Climbing Doi Luang Chiang Dao - Thailand's 3rd Highest Mountain
Trekking up Doi Luang Chiang Dao (ดอยหลวงเชียงดาว), Thailand's 3rd-highest mountain, north of Chiang Mai.

The night before the trek we stayed at the Chiang Dao national park headquarters, camping on the floor of their meeting room. We were driven to Den Ya Kat by 4WD. On the first day we hiked up to the large campsite, Ao Salung below the summit. We set up camp there then hiked up to the summit of Doi Luang Chiang Dao for the sunset.
The following morning we hiked in the dark up to Kew Lom Tai for the sunrise. Then we packed up camp, hiked down to Pang Wua where we were picked up and driven back to the national park office.
This is a very popular bucket list hike for a lot of Thais. We did it on a weekend in mid-January and there were about 300 people up the mountain, even though I've heard it's supposed to be limited to 150. Many of the hikers seemed ill-prepared and in inappropriate footwear. The summit was a photo-frenzy, the money shot being holding the Thai flag. Nevertheless it was fun, and a good community spirit, but go mid-week if you want to avoid the crowds.
We wanted to do this independently but it would be very difficult to do so. The national park and commercial trekking companies have it tied up. There are checkpoints on the the roads to the start. However it was nice to go along with it and have a porter to carry some of our gear.
The first part of this video, and the part at the summit were shot with a DJI OSMO camera. It's internal microphone was responsible for the terrible audio which I have done my best to salvage. The other parts were shot with a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 phone.

Chiang Mai Nightlife - A Night Out In Chiang Mai + Tham Lod Cave Pai Thailand
Chiang Mai nighlife scene is a vibrant party like atmosphere with clubs and bars open all over the city, there isn't much that you can't find in Chiang Mai.
Tonight we took a trip to an area of town known as Loh Kroi road, also known as the boxing area. The street are lined with beer bars and towards the end of the bars complex they also hosts live Muay Thai kickboxing fights.
Earlier that day we visited Tham Lod cave in Pai known for its awesome caverns, 1,700 years old coffins and bamboo rafting.
Tham Lot is a cave system near Sop Pong in Pang Mapha District, Mae Hong Son Province, northern Thailand. The Nam Lang River flows through the cave which is filled with stalactites and stalagmites.

TRIP TO THE NEST IN CHIANG DAO, THAILAND
We cruise north to the Nest in Chiang Dao, Thailand for a few days of peace and relaxation . After a brief, but beautiful motorbike ride from Chiang Mai to Chiang Dao, we find what we are looking. The Nest 1 offered us seclusion, quiet, and great western food. The next day, after decompressing in a a double bungalow, we step it up and go for a family suite at Nest 2. We are blown away by the surroundings and the amazing (and very spicy) Thai food.

Chiang Dao's Famous Caves, Thailand
There are five interconnected caves that are believed to stretch for more than 12 kms/7 miles into the mountains and Chiang Dao's recent claim to fame is that Jackie Chan was here to make a movie.
The main attraction is really a Burmese Temple built inside the caves over 1,700 years ago by a Burmese monk to encase relics from Buddha. It was into the caves to see this and the impressive cave formations.

My 2nd time in Chiang Dao, the less crowded version of Pai.
Even though I wanted to escape the concrete jungle, I can't ever escape the need to drink good shit. There's a great and the only craft beer bar here called Microkosmos as well as a bar that makes it's own Ya-dong called the Cave bar.
Aside from drinking myself to death, what people come to Chiang Dao for is to come admire Doi Luang's amazing view. Let's chill.

I had a very wonderful and peaceful experience in Chiang Dao, this is the place that you can truly hear yourself, and clear up your mind.
not much parties here, there is a shortcut from Pai to Chiang Dao, takes only one hour by driving thru the a national park (better to go with motorbikes, car is not recommemded)

We jump on our motorbike and visit the Chiang Dao Cave, the Sri Sangwan waterfalls and Pong Arng hot springs at Pha Daeng National Park, and we also make a stop at the bustling Chiang Dao Tuesday Morning Market. So after a relax and a freshen up I head out of the Nap Inn and decide to walk up the Loi Kroh Road and see whats doing down.
I check out a few places and see what street food stalls there are.
I walk past the hotel I stayed in 2015 The Raming Lodge, nice rooms but noisey.And also see a few places I used last year.
I end up going past a go-go bar then end up at a nice restaraunt.
