Botanical Gardens, Bellagio Resort and Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada, United States, North America
The hotel also contains a Conservatory and Botanical Gardens. In total, there are five seasonal themes that the Conservatory undergoes: Chinese New Year, Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter. From January to mid-March, the Conservatory celebrates the Chinese New Year with a display dominated by flowers bromeliads and Orchids, as well as the animal of that particular year that the Chinese zodiac celebrates. The theme then changes over to the Spring display, which lasts until May, and usually features a butterfly house as well as many varieties of tropical flowers. During Memorial Day weekend, Bellagio then switches over to its All-American Summer display, featuring a large recreation of the Liberty Bell, as well as several American flags throughout the Conservatory. The Summer display is usually very patriotic featuring a lot of red, white, and blue, and is dominated by hydrangeas. From late September until Thanksgiving weekend, the Conservatory then puts on it Fall display featuring several varieties of chrysanthemum and several large pumpkins throughout the display. Finally, the Conservatory then switches over to its winter holiday display after Thanksgiving, which is dominated by its large centerpiece Christmas Tree and several varieties of poinsettia. Whatever the season, colorful displays are decorated with many real fragrant flowers, and fountains may also be present. The Conservatory is located next to the lobby of the hotel and is open to the public. The Wet 'n Wild water park opened in 1985 and was located on the south side of the Sahara hotel. The park closed at the end of the 2004 season and was later demolished. The opening of The Mirage in 1989 set a new level to the Las Vegas experience, as smaller hotels and casinos made way for the larger mega-resorts. These huge facilities offer entertainment and dining options, as well as gambling and lodging. This change affected the smaller, well-known and now historic hotels and casinos, like The Dunes, The Sands, the Stardust, and the Sahara. In 1995, following the death of Dean Martin, the lights along the Strip were dimmed in a sign of respect to him. This was repeated in 1998 in honor of the recently deceased Frank Sinatra. In 2005, Clark County renamed a section of Industrial Road (south of Twain Avenue) as Dean Martin Drive, also as a tribute to the famous Rat Pack singer, actor, and frequent Las Vegas entertainer.
American vs Canadian Christmas Traditions
Canada and the United States are very similar but have some very different Christmas traditions!

The Chandelier Lounge-Cosmopolitan-Las Vegas
Golden Gate Hotel (Las Vegas, USA) - Las Vegas Hotel Tour
Golden Gate Hotel Las Vegas details:
The Golden Gate Hotel and Casino is situated at One Fremont Street in Las Vegas, Nevada, in the United States. A piece of the Fremont Street Experience, it is the most seasoned and littlest lodging (106 rooms) on the Fremont Street Experience.
The lodging picked up its present name in 1955 when a gathering of Italian-Americans from San Francisco Bay Area began the Golden Gate Casino. The 106-room, four-story inn was revamped in 2005. In 1965, the lodging's outside was canvassed in aluminum siding, which stayed until its evacuation in 1990.
In March 2008, proprietor Mark Brandenberg sold a half enthusiasm for the property to Desert Rock Enterprises, the venture organization of Derek and Greg Stevens, who additionally possessed the Las Vegas 51s baseball group and a 19% stake in the Riviera gambling club. With new cash injected by the Stevens, the Golden Gate attempted gambling club redesigns and lodging room remodels. The next year, the Stevens raised their stake to 60%, and Derek assumed control as CEO, with Brandenburg as president.
In 2012, the Golden Gate started its first real remodel in over 50 years, gutting the old piano bar region and vintage lodging anteroom region for a more open and current look, including sparsely clad ladies at the wagering tables known as moving merchants. The $12 million remodel incorporates a 35,000-square-foot, five-story inn tower with 14 new suites and two penthouses, another porte cochere, new registration and opening club work areas, extension of the gambling club floor and included a high farthest point gaming zone.
Greg and Derek Stevens turned out to be full proprietors of Golden Gate in 2016.
In February 2017, development started on an extension to the Golden Gate's gambling club. The development will take Golden Gate's impression into the space once in the past possessed by the La Bayou gambling club.
On Feb. 7, 2017, Du-standard's Restaurant and Bakery shut because of money related reasons. Du-standard's was claimed by Biff Naylor, child of one of Golden Gate's unique proprietors, Tiny Naylor.

Las Vegas Strip (Nevada) - In Another Minute (298)
No trip to Vegas without a visit to the Las Vegas Strip, the 4.2-mile long stretch of hotels and casinos along Las Vegas Boulevard South, just outside the Las Vegas city limits.
Actually, most of our trip (overlapping weeks 296 and 297), we spent on the Las Vegas Strip. And yes, it was fabulous!
Staying in the stylish Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas Hotel provided everything you'd want. Visual art everywhere. Delicious cocktails at the Vesper Bar and The Chandelier, which over 3 floors gives you the option to lounge at the top, inside or at the bottom of the sparkling chandelier. Of course, you can gamble to your heart's delight on the casino floor... and dance at the Marquee and eat and shop and... maybe try to get some sleep too. Last but not least, the Cosmopolitan features rooms with balconies (!!!) that offer a stunning view of the Bellagio Fountains, the north-end of the strip and the mountains beyond.
Of course, we explored beyond our hotel. Other highlights included: dinner at Le Cirque inside the Bellagio and playing Poker and slots at Caesars Palace. By the way, this seemed to be one of the few casinos on the strip that features a Poker Room. Being able to walk to the various hotels, casinos, theaters and shops without having to go outside or at least use walkways above the street (with great views) adds to the feeling of an adult playground.
I seriously can't wait to go back to visit other hotels, like the New York - New York, Paris Las Vegas and the MGM Grande and places away from The Strip... and make time to take in a show.
We did check out downtown Las Vegas at night and during the day. That's where we celebrated a renewal of vows wedding at Graceland Chapel - topped off with a stretch limo ride down the Las Vegas Strip.
Again, I want to thank Stephen Conklin, Scott's brother, for showing us around. Oh, and I'd like to thank Scott for taking me on this unforgettable anniversary vacation! You rock my world, baby!

An Estate Built for a King in Las Vegas, Nevada
Presented by Synergy Sotheby's International Realty
For more information go to
Behind the oversized gated entrance of a walled 1.7-acre compound was where the King of Pop and his three children quietly lived from 2007 until his unexpected death at his Los Angeles home on June 25, 2009.
The estate's uniqueness goes beyond its famous tenant. The design and amenities of the 24,276-square-foot custom estate and 2983 square foot guest house at 2710 Palomino Lane are attributed to its prior owner, theater developer Horst Schmidt. Now Thriller Villa's current owner hired interior designer Paulina Biggs Sparkuhl to complete a massive redesign of ornate interior elements.
Approach through an oversized iron gate. The cobblestone-paved circular driveway encloses a spectacular water fountain. A magnificent bell tower instantly captures guest's attention. The main entrance into the Spanish Mediterranean-style estate opens to reveal the beautiful sunlit foyer with custom wood ceiling design and a hand painted fireplace. Views of the inner courtyard can be seen through large arched windows and another magnificent iron door.
The heart of the home is the spectacular salon, said to be Michael's favorite room, featuring a massive stone fireplace, wood floors, exposed wood beams, a Murano glass chandelier, rich, warm tones and plenty of cozy seating areas to comfortably host large galas and formal events. The salon, foyer and a bar area offer access to the courtyard, which features plenty of outdoor entertaining space, a fountain and a statue. A small stable and paddock are situated along the back property line.
Perhaps the most impressive feature is the estate's two-story 74-seat Medieval Chapel. The ceiling has a hand painted sky scene complete with a glorious Crown of Thorns Chandelier and traditional red drapes that add the perfect touch to this extraordinary room. Access the second story balcony via a glorious spiral staircase, reminiscent of an old-fashioned theater. The acoustics and sound quality of the room is said to be pitch perfect.
The entire top level is home to the master retreat, complete with a full wet bar and lounge nestled around a fireplace. The main master room has the original mirrors that Jackson once used to rehearse his infamous choreography. The stone bathroom features a huge shower and three sinks with a vanity.
An 8500 square foot basement that served as a private art gallery and guided Michael Jackson to his vehicle secretly in order to avoid Paparazzi plus a private guest suite with full kitchen.
Set on 1.7 acres, the estate sits on perfectly manicured grounds with paths and trails leading throughout the property along with ample equestrian land.
Truly an unbeatable lifestyle.

Las Vegas! Vegas, Baby! With a weekend to explore Las Vegas we arrived hitting the ground running wanting to pack in as much as we possibly could over a short period of time. Nigh life, music, gambling, entertainment, dancing, walking the Strip and shows in the evening. Driving luxury cars, helicopter tours, exploring the Grand Canyon and marveling at Red Rock Canyon by day. Las Vegas was full of surprises. The following is a Las Vegas travel guide to experience the most out of your vacation to Sin City. It is the best things to do on Las Vegas Strip along with day excursions outside of the city limits. As they say, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.
So we aren't in Canada no more! This weekend we actually escaped to Las Vegas so we are going to be spending three days just enjoying winter in the desert and doing cool stuff. And today we're walking down the strip and we're going to show you some of the sights. And the best part - no winter parka right now.
Enough walking for a while. I'm starving. Let's get some dinner. We're going to Shake Shack.
Tell, me. Tell, me! You know what? Nobody does fast food like Americans. They've got it down to a science. It's absolutely unhealthy but so delicious.
We're going to head back to the hotel and get ready for a show. We're going to be seeing the Michael Jackson Show at the Mandalay Bay but unfortunately we can't bring any cameras in there so we won' t be able to show you that but maybe after the show we'll hit the town again and show you the sights. Not maybe! Definitely!
It is so sad to be leaving but it is our last night in Las Vegas so we're going to go out and try and see as much as we can this evening. Let's go wild. Let's gamble.
It is never ending. The lights. The noise. The ding ding ding ding. This is what a casino sounds like twenty-four seven. We see people gambling here at like five in the morning when we get up for breakfast.
What would a trip to Vegas be like without a little gambling? Sam, even looks like an old gambler today with that hat. Oh, I do. Guess what? We're such cheapskates we're playing with pennies. We're going to the penny machine. They don't even have pennies in Canada anymore, so let's use these American pennies up.
Shiver me timbers. I'm playing a pirate game. I'm going to win me some money.
Tell us? Alright, I was a pretty lousy pirate, so I'm going to try my luck with this Owl game. Hoot! Hoot!
Ding ding ding ding ding. Being the supreme cheapskate that I am I'm cutting my loses after two dollars.
So we're here at the Bellagio for the water show. And they have a lot of frequent shows in the evening so we're just waiting for it to start.
So we are now at the Cosmopolitan and we are visiting one of the coolest bars in all of Las Vegas. This behind me is the Chandelier.
This is part of our Travel in the United States series. We're making a series of videos showcasing American culture, American arts, American foods, American religion, American cuisine and American people.
