Cherry Street Lift Bridge
The Cherry Street lift bridge over the Keating Channel is one of two bascule lift bridges on Cherry Street, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The bridge spans the mouth of the Don River where it empties into Toronto Harbour and Lake Ontario. The current bridge was built in 1968 and replaced a wood single lane bridge. A new bridge is due in a few years. The mouth of the Don River is undergoing a process called renaturalize, The city of Toronto is trying to make it look more natural and help wildlife and fish. It will also help prevent flooding. The bridge at Lake Shore Blvd. E. and Cherry St. is now been stuck open since August 1, 2019. It will take a few weeks to fix, they need to bring in cranes to hold it up while they replace parts. Special engineers will be hired to help fix the bridge. Businesses in the area are being impacted by this closure. Excess to Cherry Beach and the Portlands is also difficult for vehicles, bikers and pedestrians. This opening and closing of the bridge might have been one of the last successful ones. Recorded on July 27, 2019.

Cherry Street Lakefilling - Oct. 2018
The Cherry Street Lakefilling Project is part of Port Lands Flood Protection. To create room for a realigned Cherry Street, we're filling in the space between Essroc Quay and Cousins Quay. This new land will form the foundation for a future park. We're also building two habitat coves, making new places for fish to eat, live and spawn. Clean fill material for this project is coming from construction sites in downtown Toronto.
This video shows the new shoreline, including a north and west habitat cove, taking shape.

Ship Channel Bridge coming down
The Ship Channel Bridge on Cherry Street in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, is rarely opened for ship traffic, at least in my experience. So rarely, in fact, that this is the very first time I have seen it opened for ship traffic in over 18 years of living here, and numberless hundreds of crossings.

Frontenac - Toronto Port Lands
The original Frontenac was built in 1816 and was the first Steamboat launched on the Great Lakes. Originally it was 51.8 m long and 9.1 m across with a 50-hp steam engine. She could travel at 10.6 km/h. In her early days it was hard for the owners to turn a profit and she was docked in Niagara. In 1827 she was burned by an arsonist. The new Frontenac was built in 1968 and is a self discharging bulk carrier and sails the flag of Canada. It has a gross tonnage of 17808 and dead weight of 26365 t. The bulk carrier is powered by a Sulzer 6RND76 two stroke cycle, single acting 6-cylinder 9,600 b.h.p. (7,061 kW) turbo-charged diesel engine. The Frontenac continues to sail under the Canada Steamship Lines banner operating under the management of V.Ships Canada Inc. of Montreal, Quebec. It is not dedicated to a particular cargo or trade route and therefore her cargo varies. They include such commodities as iron ore, coal, coke, salt, grains, stone products or cement clinker. Recorded on August 10, 2018 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
