Museum of late Egyptian President Nasser opens in Cairo
A museum of late Egyptian President Gamal Abdel-Nasser opened Tuesday in Cairo on the 67th anniversary of Egypt's July 23 Revolution.
It tells the life and political accomplishments of Nasser through various exhibitions.
It displays 170 rare photos of Nasser and newspapers marking the important events during his presidency.
Nasser was the 2nd president of Egypt who served from 1956 until his death in 1970.
He led the July 23 Revolution in 1952 that abolished monarchy and established a republic.

The Pharaonic Village is located on the West bank of the Nile, on Jacob's Island, Al-Bahr Al-A'zam street, which is about six miles from the center of Cairo, and which will probably not be far away from your hotel if you are planning to stay in the downtown area.
The daily working hours of the village are from 9 AM until 5 PM during the whole year but in summer it stays open until 7 PM, which will give you the chance to visit it during the day without having to run through the other tours you are doing, just make sure not to visit it after 4 because you will then have no time to enjoy the tour and see how the ancient Egyptian people used to live their days and the activities they were involved in; give yourself some time.
The time which you will most probably spend inside the Pharaonic Village will vary between one to three hours and this will depend on the things you want to see inside, so it is better to be ready for three hours in this place just in case. There are tour guides who will be responsible for telling you the story while being on the tour and they are usually professional and friendly, so they will help in making the tour much better, interesting, and easier.
The fee of the tour inside the village will differ according to the program you are going to take, there are different options there and it will also depend on the age; children from 3 to 5, children from 5 to 10, and of course adults. The price will also differ from Egyptians to foreigners but the difference is not huge and the entrance fee in the end is not expensive.

(2 Mar 1994) Egypt reopened a display of 3,500 year-old royal mummies on
Tuesday (1/3) hoping the remains of its pharaonic ancestors would
help attract tourists scared away by Moslem militant attacks. The
display of 11 mummies, put under wraps by the late president Anwar
Sadat in 1980, was unveiled by Prime Minister Atef Sedki. It
includes ancient leaders like Ramses II, the military pharaoh who
ruled Egypt for 67 years until his death in 1224 BC, as well as
three of the pharaohs' queens. Another 16 mummies are being
prepared for public display some time next year. The mummies,
discovered in southern Egypt in the late 19th century, are kept in
glass cases in a single, dimly-lit room. They lie on their backs,
gnarled and wrinkled hands crossed over their chests, partly
covered in linen or sack-cloth. The dark skin on their faces is
drawn taught over sharp aquiline features. Most appear peaceful,
with closed eyelids and tight expressionless smiles.
Mummification, a ritual burial practice for the wealthy, began
with ancient Egyptians who believed in the after-life. Few of the
mummies were discovered in their original tombs, which were
desecrated thousands of years ago and stripped of their lavish
contents by tomb robbers. Most were transferred at least 2,500
years ago by priests to large communal graves. The largest one,
containing the mummies of 40 Pharaohs, queens and nobles, was
uncovered in 1876 near the Valley of the Kings where the
undisturbed tomb of King Tutankhamun was later discovered. The
mummies were ordered locked away in 1980 by Sadat, who said it was
morally improper to display the remains of Pharaohs whose dignity
should be preserved. But Abdelhalim Noureddin, chairman of the
Egyptian Antiquities Organisation said last month the display
should entice badly-needed visitors. Moslem militant attacks
against foreign tourists began in 1992. They have been a serious
blow to the tourist industry, which once brought in about $3
billion a year. Officials say the violence cost the country about
$900 million last year.

The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, known commonly as the Egyptian Museum or Museum of Cairo, in Cairo, Egypt, is home to an extensive collection of ancient Egyptian antiquities. It has 120,000 items, with a representative amount on display, the remainder in storerooms. The Egyptian Museum of Antiquities contains many important pieces of ancient Egyptian history. It houses the world’s largest collection of Pharaonic antiquities, and many treasures of King Tutankhamen. The Egyptian government established the museum, built in 1835 near the Ezbekeyah Garden and later to the Cairo Citadel. In 1855 Archduke Maximilian of Austria was given all of the artifacts by the Egyptian government; these are now in the Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna. A new museum was established at Boulaq in 1858 in a former warehouse, following the foundation of the new Antiquities Department under the direction of Auguste Mariette. The building lay on the bank of the Nile River, and in 1878 it suffered significant damage in a flood of the Nile River. In 1892, the collections were moved to a former royal palace, in the Giza district of Cairo. They remained there until 1902 when they were moved, for the last time, to the current museum in Tahrir Square. During the Egyptian Revolution of 2011, the museum was broken into, and two mummies were reportedly destroyed. Several artifacts were also shown to have been damaged. Around 50 objects were lost. Since then 25 objects have been found. Those that were restored were put on display in September 2013 in an exhibition entitled Damaged and Restored. Among the displayed artifacts are two statues of King Tutankhamen made of cedar wood and covered with gold, a statue of King Akhenaton, Ushabtis statues that belonged to the Nubian kings, a mummy of a child and a small plychrome glass vase.
