5 BEST Chocolate shops in Bruges Belgium
Bruges Belgium or Brugge Belgie (in Dutch) is a quaint town in northwest Belgium distinguished by cobbled streets, canals and medieval buildings. There are many things to see and do including horse-drawn carriage rides, amazing restaurants, a 13th century belfry and incredible views. A canal Boat Tour is one of the highlights of any trip to Bruges. Another highlight is the chocolate scene in Bruges. There is a massive selection of chocolate shops in Bruges, literally one on every street corner. There is also an excellent chocolate museum where you can learn about all things relating to chocolate.

Today we are in Bruges in Belgium. We're going to be exploring the city, but you can't come to Belgium without trying out some of the chocolate.
Bruges is an amazing city there are chocolate shops on every street corner. There is no shortage of choice. One of the best places is this little place behind me, called Dumon Chocolatier. It is so quaint, it's one of the nicest little buildings. There's such a huge choice here so we've just asked the shop owner to put some of her favourites in for us. There's a selection of gift boxes that you can get. We got the smallest one so that we could get a variety of chocolates.
Bruges is a really small city with a lot of chocolate shops.
This is one of the fancier ones. It’s called Mary Artisanal Chocolate. It's really nice. A lot of the shops offer little tastes. Some of the chocolate shops are really fancy and so the chocolate is expensive, but really delicious.
If you come to Bruges you have to see it by boat. You get such nice views.
Chocolate Museum. This cocoa museum is a great place to learn about all things related to chocolate. I'm more about eating it. As you can see from my double chin. Does chocolate make you fat? If you consume it with moderation, you won't get fat. There you have it. Simple. We've just watched a demonstration on how they make chocolate. Of course the highlight is always tasting. I bought myself a chocolate flavoured lip ice. That's nice actually.
Godiva makes one of the best chocolates. They've got a lovely shop here. We've got these little chocolate cups with rasberries and berries. That's nice. Do you think it's healthier because it's got fruit in it?
Best Hot Chocolate in Bruges
We've been on a quest to find the best hot chocolate in town. We think we've found it at this place here. It's called De Proeverie. You get real chocolate on a spoon a little plate with four different tasting chocolates and fresh cream. That was nice. What an unassuming cafe and what an amazing hot chocolate. If you come out to Bruges, you have to try that. It was so nice.
Bruges is such a quaint little town.
We're in one of the most popular chocolate shops, it's called the Chocolate Line and they do 80 different flavours with the most bizarre flavours that you have ever heard of. That was a crazy shop. Some of the flavours include wasabi, they've got a bacon flavour and a cannabis flavoured chocolate. We've bought a box of a few which we will try over the next few days. I couldn't resist trying one so I'm going for the lemongrass one. It's something a little bit safe. Actually that's nice. It's quite subtle.
There are many reasons to come to Bruges and the chocolate scene is certainly one of them.

Dominique's Chocolate Line in Bruges
Dominique Persoone is a creative, almost crazy, chocolatier whose Chocolate Line stores worldwide are commanding attention from Europe's most sophisticated chocolate lovers--and this includes members of the Rolling Stones and many other rock stars. In fact, Dominique has emerged as a rock star himself, perhaps the boldest and most creative chocolatier in Belgium--a country obsessed with chocolate. As the young lady here informs me, they have chocolates flavored with bacon, chili, fried onions and even tobacco. A must-visit place in Bruges, for sure.

MOST CHARMING CITY IN EUROPE? (BRUGES, BELGIUM TOUR) | Eileen Aldis
Bruges, Belgium might just be the most charming city in Europe. If you closed your eyes and imagined a picturesque, fairytale, travel-back-in-time, absolutely breath-taking European city I'd guess that Bruges is pretty close to what's in your head. It's what European vacation dreams are made of. A veritable time capsule of medieval architecture, It's easy to understand why it's a UNESCO World Heritage City. It is rare to see so many streets of buildings all so well preserved. Walking around is like being transported back in time and history here is on another level. This town hall? It was the seat of government for more than six hundred years. This old hospital? It's been a hospital since the 1100s (and only stopped in the 1970s). The reason why Bruges is so well preserved has a twist: the city was too poor to renovate and rebuild. Bruges has experienced periods of great wealth, great poverty, and great wealth. During the down times, citizens didn't have the cash to make 'improvements' to their houses and to this scarcity we owe a great deal! Ironically, the current citizens of Bruges benefit from their forebears' inability to knock things down and rebuild. Bruges is now a huge draw for tourists from around the world who flock to see the same buildings people were too poor to change. Huzzah! This is why I love history!
Our day in Bruges started at the Folklore Museum. It's only 4 Euro and you can get a nice overview of life in the city in the 19th and 20th centuries. Don't forget to look for the black cat who lives there. He's rare to see and is one of a long line of black cats who call the museum home. We then walked (you can walk everywhere) to the Burg Square where you'll find the Stadhuis (town hall) and a little further on is the Grote Markt. The latter is the main square where you'll find see the Belfry (Belfort) and dozens of tourists. Bruges is known for two things: an abundance of beauty and an abundance of tourists seeking it. But no one cares because you're so stunned at the charming city around you. We walked on to the Church of Our Lady where the altar piece is a Michelangelo sculpture of the Madonna and Child. Made of Carrara marble, it's been stolen twice and is now safe again to view at the church. Across the street is Sint-Janshospitaal - the one that was a hospital from the 1100s to the 1970s. Now you'll find religious art and - my favourite - examples of old ambulances. A visit here makes you really appreciate modern medicine. It started to rain and we were getting hungry so we headed to the Friet Museum (Fry Museum). How could we visit Belgium without doing a deep dive into the history of fries?! We wanted to find out why so many people mistakenly call them 'French fries' - we also wanted to eat fries. Check and check. It stopped raining so we ended the Bruges tour by boarding a river cruise because there are parts of the city only visible from the water. I'd definitely recommend a boat ride if you're visiting Bruges - it's relaxing and offers a unique perspective not seen by other means. We absolutely loved visiting Bruges and hope you enjoyed this visit to the jewel of Belgium.

I think we tasted our way around Bruges successfully!
Bruges (Brugge in Dutch) is the capital and largest city of the province of West Flanders in the Flemish Region of Belgium. It is located in the northwest of the country. We took the ferry from Dover to Dunkirk then drove for around 1 hour to the centre of Bruges. Bruges is a beautiful Medieval city that is sometimes called the Venice of the North due to all the canals running through it.
This video is part of my Vlogmas daily vlogs, I really hope you love it and it's helpful if you are looking for what to do in Bruges.
