Panerai British Classic Week in Cowes, 8th - 15th July 2017, Day 3, Race
Every year, in late July, the old port of Cowes on the isle of Wight, and the legendary waters of the Solent - the strait separating the island from England, famous for its unique combination of winds and tides - play host to the most important event in the United Kingdom for classic yachts, part of the Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge since 2010.
Museum of Yachting Classic Yacht Regatta - Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge 2011
Founded in 1980 by a group of enthusiasts who wanted to promote the culture of classic yachting, the Museum of Yachting Classic Yacht Regatta brings dozens of boats built by some of the greatest American masters (Herreshoff, Sparkman & Stephens) from all over the region each year to vie for the final stage of the North American Circuit of the Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge, which takes place in the waters of Narragansett Bay.
Newport (Rhode Island, USA) famous for its Mansions and particularly its long history of sailing -- for many years host city to the America's Cup -- is one of the leading locations in New England and certainly one of the nation's cultural centres for classic yachting.

Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge 2012
For the eighth consecutive year, Officine Panerai is sponsoring the largest international circuit of regattas reserved for classic yachts.
The Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge 2012 presents an extraordinary calendar of races celebrating the sea and the most beautiful classic yachts still sailing, attracting the attention of thousands of yachtsmen and women, journalists and enthusiasts.
This year more than five hundred boats are expected for the ten races making up the program with over five thousand boat owners involved: the Mediterranean Circuit will take place between June and late September with regattas in Antibes, Porto Santo Stefano, Mahon, Cannes and Imperia, which every two years is included among the stages of the PCYC.
On the other side of the Atlantic, the east coast of the United States will be the venue for the North American Circuit, which features stages in Marblehead, Nantucket and Newport. Not included in either of the two circuits for geographical reasons, and yet unmissable, are the Panerai British Classic Week in Cowes on the Isle of Wight and the Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta which complete the 2012 PCYC calendar.

Musto Classic Yacht Racing
Musto talks to the crew of a classic yacht about their love of sailing and the experience of taking part in off shore sailing in the Mediterranean using vintage boats. These beautiful classic yachts are only as strong as the crew that sails them; each summer these sailors take part for the fun of being part of the team. Each crew member is only as strong as the sailing clothing and equipment that supports them. Having the best sailing clothing for men on women on a classic yacht crew can ensure each race is an enjoyable event.

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.

SUMMARY
=======
The Maritime history of the United Kingdom involves events including shipping, ports, navigation, and seamen, as well as marine sciences, exploration, trade, and maritime themes in the arts from the creation of the kingdom of Great Britain as a united, sovereign state, on 1 May 1707 in accordance with the Treaty of Union, signed on 22 July 1706. Until the advent of air transport and the creation of the Channel Tunnel, marine transport was the only way of reaching the British Isles. For this reason, maritime trade and naval power have always had great importance.
Prior to the Acts of Union, 1707, the maritime history of the British Isles was largely dominated by that of England. (See Maritime history of England for more details.)
