Christchurch castle & priory
A wonderful priory/church. it is said to have one of the longest aisles in England. The arches either side of the nave are mostly the original stone work, dating from Norman times. well worth a visit, especially the high alter.

Hello, I'm Chris Brant with a look at latest from Reading Borough Council in your council, your news.
*More children in Reading secured their first choice of primary and secondary school this year as the borough continues to cope with demand for places.
There was a 1.3 per cent improvement on last year, with 77.4 per cent gaining a place at their preferred primary school compared to 76.1 per cent in 2011/12.

*Residents living in the Battle ward in West Reading are having the chance to have their say on how £1.5 million could be used to improve local facilities.
The Section 106 money is due to be paid to the Council by developers as part of the 2006 planning permission to build over 400 homes on the site of the former Battle Hospital.

*Meanwhile, another fund of section 106 money in Whitley has helped the major refurbishment and improvement of Alphington Road and Ambrook Road Play areas.
The new play equipment includes spring rides, swings and climbing units, and were chosen by local people during a consultation late last year.
*Plans to build a new pedestrian and cycle bridge over the River Thames has taken a major step forward.
The Council has begun an initial consultation on the proposals, in advance of a planning application being submitted next month. It is proposed that the new bridge will be located to the east of Fry's Island, between the existing Caversham and Reading Bridges.

*and finally Archaeological finds unearthed during emergency road repairs in Friar Street in February have now been analysed by local archaeological experts.
They include 13th to 14th century pottery, animal bones, roof tile and pieces of leather -- mainly shoe soles. A full copy of the archaeological report for the public to see has now been added to the Berkshire Historic Environment Records.

1967 trip, of a Toronto branch of the Smith family, to the Wymeswold area of England. This is a cine film, with no sound, that was projected onto a screen in 1992, and copied to 8mm camcorder tape, and now digitized.
