Irish Clay Pipe Making, County Roscommon, Ireland
Ethel Kelly shows us how to make clay pipes at her Claypipe Centre in the village of Knockcroghery in County Roscommon, Ireland. The village has been producing pipes for 300 years and in the late 1800's virtually the entire village was involved in their manufacturing. The Knockcroghery claypipe was smoked extensively throughout Ireland by both men and women. They were particularly popular at wakes where trays of tobacco-filled pipes were laid out for the mourners. Traditionally they would be broken after the wake. Mass production of the pipes ceased abruptly when the village was burned during the War of Independence. Ethel runs the centre to keep the tradition alive. Please subscribe to my channel.

Road Reconstruction Ensures Safer Driving Conditions
The City of Waukesha Wis. teamed up with Waukesha County and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) to address concerns about increasing local and regional traffic volumes along the west side of the city. The lack of a major road connecting Interstate 94 and Highway 59 led motorists to use several smaller streets in the area for their commute, causing frequent traffic jams and unsafe conditions for drivers. In 2009 the City of Waukesha, Waukesha County, and WisDOT signed a Memorandum of Understanding detailing how the three entities would work together to tackle the large effort of building a bypass for the area. Throughout the next six years the city, county, and state developed the West Waukesha Bypass Study, which considered 11 alternative routes to determine the one with the least amount of environmental and residential impacts.

Claytime Ceramics offers hands-on experiences in ceramics painting, mosaic, pottery and clay modeling. Whether alone, in groups or on a romantic date, Caroline's customers come from all over San Diego to spend a few hours exploring their creativity.

Furthermore, she collaborates with local schools for fundraisers.
Caroline has been running Claytime Ceramics for 10 years and has gone through some difficult periods. After her husband died in 2006, she fought to keep her business going through the recent economic downturn, all while having to take care of two small boys without any other support.
Her $6,000 Kiva loan will allow Caroline to update her website, purchase a new kiln and stock her art supplies, especially for her popular mosaic classes.
Despite her challenges, Caroline has found her passion and is determined to succeed, daily living out her personal motto: Do what you love and you'll never work a day!
