Bournemouth is a seaside resort on the southern coast of England. It's known for having 7 miles of beaches, Victorian architecture and buzzing nightlife in areas such as the Triangle. The resort is also home to Bournemouth Pier, an activity centre with an obstacle course, a climbing wall and a zip line. The 2-mile long Bournemouth Gardens offer rock gardens, an aviary and plant species from 3 continents.
Bournemouth is a large coastal resort town on the south coast of England directly to the east of the Jurassic Coast, a 96-mile (155 km) World Heritage Site. Bournemouth's growth really accelerated with the arrival of the railway and it became a recognised town in 1870. Historically part of Hampshire, it joined Dorset with the reorganisation of local government in 1974. Since 1997, the town has been administered by a unitary authority, giving it autonomy from Dorset County Council although it remains part of the ceremonial county. The local council is Bournemouth Borough Council.
The town centre has notable Victorian architecture and the 202-foot (62 m) spire of St Peter's Church, one of three Grade I listed churches in the borough, is a local landmark. Bournemouth's location has made it a popular destination for tourists, attracting over five million visitors annually with its beaches and popular nightlife. The town is also a regional centre of business, home of the Bournemouth International Centre or BIC, and a financial sector that is worth more than £1,000 million in Gross Value Added.
Originally an RAF airfield, Bournemouth Airport was transferred to the Civil Aviation Authority in 1944 and was the UK's only intercontinental airport before the opening of Heathrow in 1946. There are two stations in the town, Bournemouth railway station and Pokesdown railway station to the east. The principal route to the town centre is the A338 spur road, a dual carriageway that connects to the A31 close to the Hampshire border.
The town has a professional football club, AFC Bournemouth, known as the Cherries, which was promoted to the Championship in 2013 and Premier League in 2015. AFC Bournemouth play at Dean Court near Boscombe in Kings' Park, 2 miles (3 km) east of the town centre.

☼ღ❀ 7 Miles of Clean Golden Sand, Blue Flag Beach & Award Winning Gardens ~ Bournemouth, England ♥☄✿
My original home. Bournemouth has award-winning Blue Flag beaches with soft and clean sand. Bournemouth has award-winning public gardens. A UNESCO World Heritage Jurassic Coastline showing prehistoric life dating to over 185 million years ago with constant fossil-finds along the coast is situated between Dorset and Devon.
A world-class sailing location is along the south coast. Cliff lifts travel from the top and bottom of the cliffs along the beaches, in addition to safe walking paths along the cliffs..
The Bournemouth Eye is a large balloon people can travel in which gives birds-eye views over Bournemouth. Lifeguards are on the beaches. The New Forest (actually an old forest!) is close to visit.
There's aerobatic displays over Bournemouth beach during the summer season by the elite RAF British Red Arrows team. (They have performed 1000's of displays in over 55 nations worldwide.). Night-glider twister jet displays with fireworks coming from the planes can be seen in the sky at night.
The very ancient and sacred sites of Stonehenge, Maiden Castle, Corfe Castle, Avebury, mysterious crop circles, white chalk hill carvings, and more, are all in the West Country of England. Romantic old steam trains are still preserved and pass through some charming countryside and villages in Dorset.
Bournemouth has many activities available, such as surfing, paragliding, jet-sking, volleyball, trampolining and there's a fun mini-golf course in the neighbouring historic town of Poole, (mini cars and mini boats are available for children there too).
There's a 'sandman' who makes ornaments from sand in Weymouth in Dorset.
.
Lulworth Cove is a beautiful part of the Dorset coastline.
Open-roofed buses travel on short ferry trips to local islands during the summer months.
A miniature children's train that navigates around Poole Park (which adults enjoy too!)
Castlepoint is a large shopping centre in Bournemouth and the Dolphin Shopping Centre is nearby in Poole.
Bournemouth is 2 hours drive from London, or 90 minutes by train.
Sandbanks, Shell Bay, Swanage and Canford Sands have some of the most beautiful homes along the south coast (with swimming pools and sea views).
Bournemouth is close to the Isle of Wight on the south coast of England.
Maiden Castle is an ancient historic hill fort in Dorset, built by Pagan Celts to keep out the Romans, and it's the largest hill fort in Europe.
There are mysterious crop circles and white chalk carvings of horses and Cerne Abbas giant in the country regions of Dorset.
Corfe Castle holds the ruined remains of an ancient Roman castle in Dorset.
The entire City of Bath is a UNESCO World Heritage site and has impressive Roman Spas. This ancient city is located in the neighbouring county to Dorset of Somerset.
Bournemouth airport (Hurn Airport) is named after the Pagan Celtic and Saxon god Herne.
Brownsea Island is closeby and is the only island which has red squirrels!
Dorset, Devon, Somerset, Wiltshire and Cornwall make-up the 'West Country' (south-west England), formerly known as King Arthur's land.
King Arthur won his greatest battle against the Saxons at Badbury Rings in Dorset.
There are thousand's of prehistoirc sites across the island of Great Britain, with many ancient sites in the West Country, such as Stonehenge, Silbury and Avebury.
The City of Bath in the neighbouring county of Somerset is a UNESCO World Hertiage Site, with ancient Roman spas and hot springs.
People who live in Bournemouth were found to be the happiest in Britain in a nationwide survey!
The south coast has more sunlight hours than most of Britain receives.

Places to see in ( Bournemouth - UK ) Bournemouth Pier
Places to see in ( Bournemouth - UK ) Bournemouth Pier
Bournemouth Pier makes the perfect photo location for a memory of your stay in Bournemouth. On a sunny day you will have blue skies in the background and the beautiful, award winning beaches. Off season it's free to get on the Bournemouth Pier , during the main season there is a small fee to get on.
At the Bournemouth Pier entrance you'll find a large arcade with the latest games, a number of units selling everything from ice-cream to sun hats, postcards and lots more. Above the arcade is Aruba bar and restaurant. On the pier itself you'll find the Rock Reef activity centre, Bournemouth Pier Zip wire and Key West Restaurant.
At a cost of £2,600 the new Bournemouth Pier was opened by the Lord Mayor of London in August 1880. Consisting of an open promenade, it stretched to a length of 838 ft (255.4 m) and spanned some 35 ft (10.6 m) across the neck of the pier, extending to 110 ft (33.3 m) at the head. Two extensions, in 1894 and 1909 respectively, took the pier's overall length to more than 1000 ft (304.8 m).
