Fore! .. or should we say Four mini golf courses for Fathers day!
In this weeks video, we visited four different miniature golf courses all over the Denver Metro Area. We started at Boondock's in Parker, where we tackled Skull Island. Then we headed over to Centennial for an indoor Monster Golf Course. We encountered scary clowns, Frankenstein's Monster and the Grim Reaper. After that, we headed to Littleton for Colorado Journeys miniature golf, where we traveled across the state through Mesa Verde and even a Ghost town. Last but not least, we headed up to Westminster to our favorite of the four...Adventureland Golf and Raceway. We battled headhunters and even came across an active volcano! Scott won this one challenge, but we can't wait to get out for another round.

PROJECT 2: HACKER VIDEO REMIX
For the hacker video remix I was inspired by the current state of our nation. Probably for as long as this great nation of ours has been a union, gun control along with the second amendment have been polarizing issues. The rights of the common man to be able to own weapons, whether it is for protection or for sport has divided this country since the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed was put in ink in 1791. The debate over what these words mean and what the boundaries are has raged on.
This topic became my focal point seeing as how much gun control as well as the second amendment has been in the news lately. The regularity of mass shootings has forced the issue to the forefront, as well as the upcoming election with the right to bear arms always a topic of concern for candidates. Just in the past few months Wisconsin has felt the eye of the nation fixed on us, as we have experienced two mass shootings, one at the Sikh Temple in Oak Creek, followed by the shooting at the salon in Brookfield that occurred just this past weekend. Both motives were different of course, but the ability to acquire and carry guns at ease was again at the forefront.
My video became a combination of an adbuster, vidding and political remix. The focus was specifically on the NRA and their unrelenting obsession with protecting the rights of every American to have as many guns as they see fit, mostly through the use of fear. Fear that at any moment terrorists will attack; you will be shot walking in the park; the army won't be able to protect you in the event of a war. The list could go on. In clips I used, their chairman continued to point out that if we do not have the right to bear arms, we might as well have no freedom at all. Having a gun is the most important freedom of all, but while making these outrageous claims pays no attention to the current state of mass killings ravaging the American landscape. I interspersed clips of recent shootings that have occurred, in Wisconsin and around the nation. The clip of the second amendment to start the video was to get people thinking about what the words mean to them. I also found an online talking head that has some very opinionated views against the second amendment and his utter frustration with the NRA and their skewed view. His name was Cenk Uygar, speaking on the The Young Turks Network. His views, opinionated as they may be, are very close to those of my own. I did find quite a bit of humor with his remarks side by side with those of Wayne LaPierre of the NRA. Uygar continues to point out that the right to bear arms was more a product of the time, to aid the army in the form of local militias. Not to mention the fact that the fire power available back in 1791 wasn't even close to what an average citizen can purchase at the nearest Gander Mountain today.
The fact that this topic comes up only every time there is a mass shooting, then proceeds to fade is appalling. There has to be a happy medium between the right to own a gun, and not allowing people to own automatic or semi-automatic weapons. There is always the other way to go about it. In the NRA's mind, if we all had guns we would all be much safer. That seems to make perfect sense as the number of gun owners continues to rise, along with the frequency of mass shootings. There may be a slight correlation.
