Walking towards Skipton Castle...
Skipton Castle is one of the best preserve Castle left standing as of today in England. Built in 1290 AD, let me tell you, touching that thing and also walking in it, this magnificent structure looks and feels like it was built yesterday..!!!

Joanna Lumley gushes with pride over Gurkha commemoration - Daily Mail
The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh have joined other senior royals at the Royal Hospital Chelsea in London for a pageant to celebrate 200 years of Gurkhas serving in the British military this evening. Prince Philip, who turns 94 tomorrow, was pictured practising with a Kukri knife (right) - a traditional Gurkha weapon - as he and the Queen were shown some Gurkha artefacts. There were also battle re-enactments in the courtyard (bottom right) as well as music and dance featuring Gurkhas and their wives. Prince Harry - who revealed to guests he wanted to join the Gurkhas - and Prince Charles, Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Gurkha Rifles , were also in attendance as the Queen led the moving celebrations. Senior royals and military veterans alike also bowed their heads in memory of those who died in the Nepalese earthquake. Hundreds of serving Gurkhas and veterans are attending the event, which will chronicle 200 years of Gurkha service with the 'story of the Gurkha soldier' narrated by actress and campaigner Joanna Lumley and historian Dan Snow.

Places to see in ( Kirkby Stephen - UK )
Places to see in ( Kirkby Stephen - UK )
Kirkby Stephen is a civil parish and small market town in Cumbria, in North West England which historically, is part of Westmorland. The town is located on the A685, surrounded by sparsely populated hill country, and about 25 miles (40 km) from the nearest larger towns, Kendal and Penrith. The River Eden rises 6 miles (9.7 km) away in the peat bogs below Hugh Seat and passes by, almost unobserved, on the eastern edge of the town.
Kirkby Stephen has a parish council and is a centre for several smaller villages and parishes in the surrounding area, including Nateby, Ravenstonedale and Mallerstang. A community and council centre in the library, provides information and services on behalf of all the local councils (county, district and parish), and general and local information and facilities.
Kirkby Stephen serves as a base for tourism in the Upper Eden Valley area and for walking tours of the Valley. It is on the line of the Coast to Coast Walk, devised by Alfred Wainwright, Each June there is the Mallerstang Horseshoe and Nine Standards Yomp which takes a strenuous route along the high ground along both sides of the neighbouring dale of Mallerstang, including Wild Boar Fell and the summit of nearby Nine Standards Rigg. The surrounding countryside attracts walkers but the Kirkby Stephen Mountain Rescue Team sometimes has to assist those who are not fully prepared for harsh conditions on the fell tops.
It is sometimes said that Faraday Road (parallel with High Street and Market Street) is named in honour of the scientist, Michael Faraday (1791–1867) but it is named after his uncle, Richard Faraday, who was a respected local tradesman. Richard's younger brother, James, was for some time the blacksmith in Outhgill, but his third child, Michael, was born soon after they had moved to London. The Faraday brothers moved from Clapham in the West Riding to the Kirkby Stephen area because the family were all members of the Sandemanian sect, and at that time there was locally one of the few Sandemanian communities with a chapel, which was in the courtyard behind what is now the HSBC bank.
Stenkrith Park is south of the town on the B6259 road to Nateby. The river scenery here marks the change from limestone at the head of the Eden Valley in Mallerstang, to the red sandstone which is characteristic further along the Eden Valley. The main rock, from which most houses in Kirkby Stephen is built, is brockram, composed of fragments of limestone in a cement of red sandstone. The river at Stenkrith has carved this rock into many fantastic shapes, collectively known as the Devil's Grinding Mill or Devil's Hole. This spectacular natural scenery has been supplemented, in recent years, by three (human) additions. The ‘Poetry Path' has 12 stones which were carved by the artist Pip Hall, with poems by Meg Peacock, depicting a year in the life of a hill farmer.
Eden Benchmarks: Beside the river there is a sculpture by Laura White, entitled ‘Passage', one of the ten Eden Benchmarks, a series of sculptures that have been placed at intervals along the River Eden from its source in Mallerstang to the Solway Firth. The Millennium Bridge was opened in 2002, and provides pedestrian access from the park to a walk along the old south Durham railway track.
Kirkby Stephen West station, on the Settle-Carlisle Line, is located over 1 mile (2 km) south west of the town. This railway line kept to the high ground and avoided descending into the valleys wherever possible. A second, older, railway station is also situated in the village. This is Kirkby Stephen East station, situated at the southern edge of the village. Originally a large junction of the South Durham & Lancashire Union Railway and the Eden Valley Railway, the station was re-opened by the Stainmore Railway Company in August 2011 as a heritage centre and operational railway representing the 1950's, and is open to visitors every weekend.
( Kirkby Stephen - UK ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting the city of Kirkby Stephen . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Kirkby Stephen - UK

Renowned Sri Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa in Bentota | Nature Architect Ideas from Sri Lanka
Geoffrey Manning Bawa, FRIBA (23 July 1919 – 27 May 2003) was a Sri Lankan architect. He was among the most influential Asian architects of his generation. He is the principal force behind what is today known globally as tropical modernism.
Geoffrey Bawa was born on 23 July 1919. His father was Justice B. W. Bawa a wealthy and successful lawyer, of Muslim and English parentage, and his mother, Bertha Marianne Schrader, was of mixed German, Scottish and Sinhalese descent. He had one older brother Bevis Bawa who became a renowned landscape architect.
He was educated at Royal College, Colombo after which he studied English and Law, 1938, at St Catharine's College, Cambridge gaining a BA (English Literature Tripos) and went on to study law at Middle Temple, London becoming a Barrister in 1944. Returning to Ceylon, after World War II, he worked for a Colombo law firm. After the death of his mother, he left the profession and soon left in 1946 to travel for two years, going to the Far East, across the United States, and finally to Europe and almost settling in Italy.[4] By the time he was 28 years old, he had spent a third of his life away from Sri Lanka. During his time in Italy, he planned to buy a villa and settle down, but that did not happen, and by 1948 he had returned to Sri Lanka. Bawa bought an abandoned rubber estate on the south-west coast of the island between Colombo and Galle at Lunuganga, planning to create an Italian garden from a tropical wilderness. However, he soon found that his ideas were compromised by his lack of technical knowledge. In 1951, he was apprenticed to H. H. Reid, the sole surviving partner of the Colombo architectural practice Edwards, Reid and Begg. In 1952 Reid died, but Bawa still aspired to a career in architecture, so he returned to England, after spending a year at Cambridge, he enrolled as a student at the Architectural Association in London. There he gained a Diploma in Architecture by 1956 and in the following year he became an Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects. To this day he is remembered as the tallest, oldest, and most outspoken student of his generation at AA. In 1957, at the age of 38 he returned to Sri Lanka qualified as an architect to take over what was left of Reid's practice.

STORYLINE
US President George W. Bush arrived in England on Sunday and met Queen Elizabeth II as part of the latest stop in his week-long European trip.
Bush flew in to London's Heathrow airport from Paris, where he held talks with his French counterpart, Nicolas Sarkozy, on Saturday.
The US president and First Lady Laura Bush were then taken by helicopter to visit the Queen at Windsor Castle, where they were guided by Her Majesty and Prince Philip through St George's Hall.
Bush was scheduled to have dinner with British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and his wife, Sarah, at Downing Street later on Sunday.
The two leaders were to hold talks on Monday morning before visiting Northern Ireland, the last stop on the president's trip which began at the US-European Union summit in Slovenia.
According to a British newspaper report on Sunday, Bush said Britain should not unravel the work of coalition forces in Iraq by withdrawing troops too early.
He was quoted as saying by the Observer newspaper that there should be no definitive timetable for troop reductions.
His comments followed a British Broadcasting Corporation report that Britain could set a date for the withdrawal of its soldiers from Iraq within months, although officials have dismissed the report as speculation.
Britain currently has some four thousand troops serving in southern Iraq, confined to a base on the outskirts of the city of Basra.
The military planned to withdraw an additional one and a half thousand troops from the country, but those plans were shelved after Basra was rocked by an upsurge in violence in March, a point noted by Bush in his interview.
Iran's nuclear ambitions have so far dominated Bush's travels through Slovenia, Germany, Italy and France.
He has maintained that he wants to settle the standoff with Iran through diplomacy, but he has also reiterated that a military strike is possible.
Bush also gave a stern message to Syrian President Bashar Assad on Saturday, alleging the Syrians were working with Iran to destabilise the Middle East.
