22nd May 1455: Wars of the Roses start at the Battle of St Albans
The Wars of the Roses were fought between the Houses of Lancaster and York, both of whom had claims to the English throne. Although the Lancastrians had ruled England since 1399, Henry VI had come to the throne in 1422 when he was just 9 months old. England had therefore been ruled by regents for 15 years, during which time the monarchy was weakened.
The situation didn’t improve after Henry took full control of the country in 1437, since he experienced periods of mental illness that affected his behaviour and decisions. Having experienced a long period of mental instability from August 1453, the “kingmaker” Richard Neville, Earl of Warwick, made Richard, Duke of York, protector of the realm.
When Henry recovered 18 months later, Richard was excluded from the royal court. In response he led an army to London, but was met by the King’s forces 22 miles north of the city in St Albans. After many hours of failed negotiations, Richard ordered his troops to attack. The battle was fought in the streets, and lasted for less than an hour before the Lancastrians were outflanked, key Lancastrian nobles were killed, and Henry was taken prisoner.
Richard was declared Protector of England just a few months later, but the Wars of Roses raged for another three decades.

This appeal arises in relation to search and seizure warrants issued by the St. Albans Magistrates’ Court in the absence of the appellant on 16 June 2014. These were executed on 26 June 2014, and on 16 September 2014 materials on which the police had relied in obtaining the warrants were provided to the appellant in redacted form. The appellant applied to the Magistrates’ Court for disclosure of the redacted materials, and his application was refused by District Judge Mellanby on 25 September 2014 on grounds of public interest immunity.
The appellant subsequently challenged the legality of the warrants and consequent searches by means of an application for judicial review. This was conceded by the police on 24 March 2015, who made a protective application under s.59 of the Criminal Justice and Police Act 2001 for continued retention of the seized materials. That application was granted by HHJ Bright QC on 11 June 2015, and the appellant sought judicial review of this decision. Permission was granted but judicial review was refused on 22 April 2016.
The issues in this case are:
In proceedings for judicial review of the legality of a search warrant issued ex parte, is it permissible for the High Court to have regard to evidence which is not disclosed to the subject of the warrant?
If so, does the same apply to judicial review proceedings regarding the legality of an order made inter parties for retention of unlawfully seized material under s.59 of the Criminal Justice and Police Act 2001?
If the answer to both (a) and (b) are yes, do the principles in Tariq v Home Office concerning irreducible minimum disclosure apply to proceedings concerning search warrants?
The Supreme Court unanimously dismisses the appeal. The Criminal Procedure Rules contemplate that the magistrate or Crown Court will see and rely on information not disclosable for public interest immunity reasons. It would be unjust if the High Court on judicial review had to address a case on a different basis from the magistrate.

Travel safely with St Albans Community
Being able to travel alone gives people choice, control, freedom and independence over their lives – it also helps to build confidence if you know what to expect when venturing out.
There are lots of training documents dealing with travel safety but the coproduction team at our St Albans Community felt that they could go one step further. With a little help from staff, members of the team including the stars, Alex, Lou, Ruth and Ed, produced an Independent travel training film, which walks the viewer through different modes of transport and provides clear advice in real-life settings.
Cycling, pedestrian safety and using public transport are all featured in the short film, accompanied by narration from the team who explain everything from buying a ticket and negotiating timetables, to wearing the right protective gear when cycling.
The new film has been shared with everyone around the charity and this peer support tool is proving a useful aid in building knowledge and confidence when travelling. And an excellent achievement for those involved.

THE JIGSAW KILLER - Stephen Marshall
Jigsaw man killer Stephen Marshall cut up other bodies
A man jailed for life for murdering a kitchen salesman, cutting up his body and dumping it, has admitted dismembering four other bodies.
Stephen Marshall, 38, of Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, must serve at least 36 years for killing Jeffrey Howe, 49.
He killed Mr Howe in London last March and scattered his body parts across Hertfordshire and Leicestershire.
St Albans Crown Court heard Marshall, who had links to London's Adams crime family, cut up bodies in the 1990s.
Shortly before he was sentenced, his barrister Peter Doyle QC said Marshall had explained to him how he dismembered the bodies of four unidentified men who had been killed earlier.
Detective Superintendent Mick Hanlon, of Hertfordshire Police, said they were now looking into these cases.
Hertfordshire Police said it was likely detectives would visit Marshall in prison to question him about his claims.

The St Albans common

Racism by Ex offender and supported by ST ALBANS Police
Here on the 8th of July 2014, this Ex offender attacked me to my car and break my tooth , also used Stanley Knife and injured me on my thump of my right hand and was Kicking my car caused criminal damages to the driver side front door , when the police arrive they only look to my skin colour and ethnic group as Asian , I was covered with the blood on my face and hands, and the police PC Emma Collins only arrested me instead of arresting the person appeared here on this Video , even after this CCTV have been handled to them still charged me without any evidence it is just my skin colour and religion and ethnic group categorized as Pakistani ( PACKY) as Darren Moore said when he started his crime , how ever the trail in court take place , the jury found me not guilty for all the charges , but my own Barrister said to me I should agree to hold common assault which never happened to protect the POLICE , unfortunately mu own Barrister was corrupted the court charged me with common assault which never have been taken place in this case and I have to pay £300 plus £30 as fine for common assault which is not existing at all , see the film and say your word in the comments , the only push away to protect my mobile from Darren Moore to be stolen this man he was in prison for so many offenses and he attacked people before , but now he and all white British is protected and no one can challenge if he or she is different nationality or ethnic group or religion .
NO JUSTICE = NO PEACE
UK should be the leader of Human right , that was in the past now UK is the leader of racial actions against immigrants by the Political Party decisions the CONSERVATIVE , I have suffered from this case as my ex wife accused me with mental health conditions and falsely accused me for a very heavy criminal offenses violence , and supplied false testimony to the police also to the family court , and I have been locked behind the bars for no reason all she wants is her own space with the Police Officer who offered her a Job in the Council as interpreter for Czech and Slovak Citizens, the deal was £ 50,000 per annual .
The Victim was me only me in all this mess . on the trail in crown court in Liverpool , I found not guilty for all the charges from 4 count 3 was removed by the judge himself because it was clearly she was telling lies as well she influence my son to lie in the court . how ever ALLAH made his word and I found not guilty not for a lake of evidence but it was proved that she was laying with hard evidence .
the court by some how issued a restraining order which made my ex wife create new charges against me with her own friend which is Polish teacher to say lies against me and without evidence I got charged and convicted with criminal record, with out doing any thing , this is showing the corrupted authority in UK .
recently I lost my House because simply she is a mother of my son so she have the right to stay inn, where is my rights ?? not any because I am Muslim and Asian EG .
I do not want to stay in UK all I need to sale my house and leave this country ASAP .
