Chartwell the home of Sir Winston Churchill Kent England
Bought by Sir Winston Churchill for its magnificent views over the Weald of Kent, Chartwell was his home and the place from which he drew inspiration from 1924 until the end of his life. Persian carpets are donations of the late shah of Persian during Tehran conference in WWII. The rooms remain much as they were when he lived here, with pictures, books and personal mementoes evoking the career and wide-ranging interests of this great statesman. The hillside gardens reflect Churchill's love of the landscape and nature. They include the lakes he created, Lady Churchill's Rose Garden and the kitchen garden. Many of Churchill's paintings can be seen in the studio

Dozens of trucks have taken part in an exercise in southeast England testing plans to deal with long queues at the port of Dover - if the United Kingdom crashes out of the European Union with no deal.
The government says it needs to prepare for all eventualities - with some experts predicting 45-kilometre queues once new customs checks come in.

Ipswich Live Exports
PORT OF IPSWICH
LIVE EXPORT OF CALVES
Associated British Ports has accepted this trade while Dover Docks are under repair. Two other Ports refused. If Ipswich proves viable for the Exporters (and the Port)it could continue or return in the future.
PLEASE OBJECT and help to end this cruel trade which causes so much suffering to thousands of animals. Male calves are the waste product of the Dairy Industry. Often only 2 -- 4 weeks old they are driven from as far away as Wales and Scotland, and face a long sea journey from Ipswich to France and on to Holland, Belgium, Italy and even Spain -- more long hours on transporters. Death and disease can be high. Destined for the Veal Trade their short 6 month life is spent in group pens. Crates are now banned - but they have little room, no bedding, fed only on milk substitute to keep the meat white and little or no light for the same reason. It is hypocrisy to discard these young animals to a system which is not acceptable in the UK.
YOU CAN HELP TO STOP THIS CRUEL TRADE - PLEASE CONTACT WITH A POLITE PHONECALL/ EMAIL/OR LETTER:-

James O'Brien On The Brexit Ferry Contract Awarded To Company With No Ferries
James O'Brien On The Brexit Ferry Contract Awarded To Company With No Ferries. This is James O'Brien's comical reaction to the government's decision to award a contract to run ferries in the event of a no-deal Brexit to a company who don't have any ferries.
Seaborne Freight, won a £13.8m contract to run a freight service between Ramsgate and Ostend, despite having no boats and having not run a ferry service before. Describing the decision as Brexit in a nutshell, James O'Brien said: Chris Grayling completely ignored warnings from the Dover Port Authorities, and indeed this programme - they have been telling us for two years what was going to happen in Dover in the event of any form of Brexit that didn't involve Customs Union and/or Single Market membership. But they choose to ignore all of that. Chris Grayling got presented with a completely unforeseeable scenario (unless you actually listened to anybody who knew what they were talking about or paid attention to the adverts taken out at your own party's conference last year). He's in a meeting a couple of weeks ago. It's explained to him we've given £100m to a Danish company and a French company.James then imagined how the decision must have been made: Grayling: The Brexiters aren't going to like it are they? We need to find a British company to give some money to. Seaborne Freight. Are they British? Civil servant: Yes, but they don't have any boats. Grayling: I don't care if they have any boats or not, are they British?
Civil servant: Yes, they're British. Grayling: Give them £14m and give it to them now. The £100m that we've given to the Danish and French firms, they can do all the boat-based business, we'll get this lot without any boats to fly the flag. Do they have any flags? BREXIT: What are we waiting for?
Brexit What are we waiting for? Well in this video I explain whats holding up the deal passing through parliament and why Theresa May delayed the vote on her deal in the house of commons. It's mainly down to the Irish Backstop which MP's do not approve of because it would leave us inside an indefinite customs union with no right to terminate the backstop should the UK want to. Theresa May promised to parliament that it would only be temporary but after listening to the debate is trying to get reassurances that it is temporary so that her deal can pass through parliament.
