The cyclopean wall of Rajgir. THE BIGGEST WALL OF INDIA
The cyclopean wall is located in Rajgir. Basically the city of Rajgir is encircled by a massive 40-kilometer-long wall. The wall was built during the Mauryan rule over a period of two thousand and five hundred years ago, primarily with the purpose of protecting their capital from the external invaders and enemies. The wall is estimated with large raw stones blocks. The Cyclopean Wall is constructed over Rajgir hill and plains including several gates and fortifications.
The archeological survey of India is responsible for its maintenance. In order to get a glimpse of the part, these walls, one has to go on Rajgir Gaya road near Southern gateway at a distance of few kilometers towards the old Rajgir. Presently the wall does not exist around the city in its old glory and only some of its ruins are left over, but certainly the place is one of the esteem visit for every visitor.

The Cyclopean Wall of Rajgir is a 40 km (25 mi) long wall of stone which encircled the entire ancient city Rajgriha (Present day Rajgir, in the Indian state of Bihar.) to protect from external enemies and invaders. It is among the oldest specimens of cyclopean masonry across the world
It was erected by the rulers of Maurya dynasty before 3rd century BC using massive undressed stone for the protection of ancient city Rajgriha (present day Rajgir). It reminds the great administrative abilities of the Maurya Empires.
Only some portions of it remains. Most of it disappeared with time. This is currently under the protection of National Monument. The Bihar Archeology Department has recommended to the Archeological Survey Of India (ASI) that it should be include in the list of the UNESCO world heritage sites, and it was declared a world heritage site in 1987

It is a type of stonework built with massive limestone boulders, roughly filled together with minimal clearance between adjacent stone and no use of mortar. The boulder typically seem unworked, but some may have worked roughly with a hammer and the gap between boulders filled in with smaller chunks of limestone.

Rajgir (originally known as Girivraj) is a city and a notified area in Nalanda district in the Indian state of Bihar. The city of Rajgir (ancient Rājagṛha; Pali: Rājagaha was the first capital of the kingdom of Magadha, a state that would eventually evolve into the Mauryan Empire. Its date of origin is unknown, although ceramics dating to about 1000 BC have been found in the city. This area is also notable in Jainism and Buddhism[3] as one of the favorite places for Lord Mahavira and Gautama Buddha and the well known Atanatiya conference was held at Vulture's Peak mountain.
Rajgir is also famous for its association with Haryanka dynasty Kings Bimbisara and Ajatashatru as their capital city. Ajatashatru kept his father Bimbsara in captivity here.

It is on the basis of Xuanzang in particular that the site is divided into Old and New Rajgir. The former lies within a valley and is surrounded by low-lying hills, Rajgir hills. It is defined by an earthen embankment (the Inner Fortification), with which is associated the Outer Fortification, a complex of cyclopean walls that runs (with large breaks) along the crest of the hills. New Rajgir is defined by another, larger, embankment outside the northern entrance of the valley and next to the modern town.

It was here that Gautama Buddha spent several months meditating, and preaching at Gridhra-kuta, ('Hill of the Vultures'). He also delivered some of his famous sermons and initiated king Bimbisara of Magadha and countless others to Buddhism.

It is sacred to the memory of the founders of both the religions: Jainism and Buddhism and associated with both the historical Mahavira and Buddha.
The renowned Son Bhandar Caves is situated at Rajgir, Nalanda district in Bihar state. Son Bhandar group of caves has two caves known as eastern and western cave. Son bhandar caves are concerned with Jainism and considered to belong to 3-4 century AD.
Son Bhandar second cave sculptures
These caves were first inspected by Cunninghum and he concluded to have analogy with Saptaparni Cave of Buddhism creed. After Cunninghum several scholars visited this place and some had opinion to concern with Buddhism. After some time all Buddhism connections were refused because of an inscription found on the southern wall of a cave.
These caves should be related to Digambar sect of Jainism as Xuanzang wrote in his book about Vaibhar Hill of Rajgir that the place was occupied by Digambar Jain monks for meditation purpose. After some centuries these caves were converted by Hindus as Lord Vishnu sculpture was also found from mound of a cave.[8]
Historically, Rajgir has been a very important place in Jainism, as capital to many empires. The main tourist attractions include the ancient city walls from Ajatshatru's period, the Bimbisar's Jail, Jarasandh's Akhara, Gridhra-kuta, ('Hill of the Vultures'), Son Bhandar Caves [9] and the Jain temples on the five peaks.[8]
Rajgir is famous for its hot water springs, locally known as Brahmakund, a sacred place for Hindus where water from seven different springs (Saptarshi) merge and is notable for its healing effects.[10][11]

Another major attraction is the peace pagoda, Vishwa Shanti Stupa, built in 1969, one of the 80 peace pagodas in the world, to spread the message of peace and non-violence. It is the oldest peace pagoda in India. The rope-way that leads to it is another attraction, which was gifted by Japanese spiritual leader Fuji Guruji in the 1960s.

Mycenae 2 (1) - Cyclopean Walls and the Lion Gate
Two years after my first visit, a return to probably my favourite ancient Greek city, Mycenae.
This was by far the best weather of the two-week trip - it was glorious sunshine and very warm for the time of year.
This video shows the Cyclopean walls and the famous Lion Gate. Using my son as a model, one can get an idea of the size of the blocks.
This video was recorded in 1080 HD on 19 December 2017.
Rajgir Ropeway : अंतरास्ट्रीय पर्यटक स्थल राजगीर
Rajgir just 15 kms from Nalanda is located the complex of temples and monasteries. The place is called Rajgir. It is one of the most important tourist places in India. Being located in a valley, Rajgir is a very scenic place. The small hill grit town is covered with lush green forest which add to the beauty of the place. Rajgir was the capital of the Magadh Mahajanpad (State) when Patliputra was not formed. In those days it was called Rajgrih. Rajgir or Rajgrih means the home of Royalty. This place has been associated with Lord Buddha and Buddhism. Buddha not only spent many years in Rajgir but also delivered sermons here and proselytized emperor Bimbisar at the Griddhakoota hill. The Jivekarmavan monastery was the favorite residence for Buddha. Even Bimbisar gave Venuvan Vihar to Buddha for his residence. It is said that it was at Rajgir that physician treated Buddha, Jivak after he was injured by his cousin Devdatta. The teachings of Buddha was penned down at Rajgir and it was also the venue for the first Buddhist Council. Today Rajgir has come up as one of the most important pilgrimage for the Buddhist.Rajgir also has some very beautiful Hindu and Jain temples which attracts Hindus and Jains also to the place. Not only as a place for worship, Rajgir has come up as health and winter resort with its warm water ponds. These ponds are said to contain some medicinal properties which help in the cure of many skin diseases. The added attraction of Rajgir is the Ropeway which takes you uphill to the Shanti Stupa and Monasteries built by the Japanese Devotees on top of the Ratnagiri hills.

Cyclopean Wall: Once 40 Km long, it encircled ancient Rajgir. Built of massive undressed stone carefully fitted together, the wall is one of the few important Pre-Maurayan stone structures ever to have been found. Traces of wall still subsist, particularly at the exit of Rajgir to Gaya.
RopeWay at RajgirShanti Stupa: The Vishwa Shanti Stup is located on a 400 meter high hill. The stupa is built in marble and on the four corners of the stupa are four glimmering statues of Buddha. To reach the top of this hill one has to come through the “Ropeways”. This place is also called the GriddhKoot. Aerial Ropeway ticket cost is 60/- RS per Head.

One of the chambers I believed to have been the guard room, the rear wall has two straight vertical lines and one horizontal line cut into the rock; the doorway is supposed to lead to king Bimbisara Treasury. Inscriptions in the Sankhlipi or shell script, etched into wall and so far undeciphered, are believed to give the clue to open the doorway. The treasure, according to folklore, is still intact. The second chambers bears a few traces of seated and standing etched into the outer wall.
Bimbisar jail: his impatient saon and heir, Ajatashatru, imprisoned King Bimbisara here. The captive king chose this site for his incarceration, for, from this spot he could see Lord Buddha climbing up to his mountain retreat atop the Griddhakuta hill. There is a clear view of the Japanese Pagoda. The stupa of peace was built on the top of the hill.
Veerayatan: A Jain Temple and Museum
Jain Temple: On hill crests around Rajgir, far in the distances one can see about 26 Jain Temples. They are difficult to approach for the untrained, but make exciting trekking for those in form.
Chariot Route Marks: The Chariot Route and hell inscriptions are worth a visit for the strangeness of the phenomenon, two parallel furrows cut deep into rock for about thirty feet giving credence to the local belief that they were burnt into the rock by the speed and power of Lord Krishna's chariot when he entered the city of Rajgir during the epic Mahabharata times. Several shell inscriptions, the undeciphered characters current in central and eastern India from the 1st to 5th centuries AD, and engraved in the rock around the chariot marks.

Rajgir is connected to Patna via Bakhtiarpur by rail and road. Bakhtiarpur lies midway between Patna and Mokameh. Road access is by NH 30A to Bakhtiarpur and NH 31 towards south to reach Bihar Sharif. From Mokameh NH 31 to Bihar Sharif. From there, NH 82 will leads to Rajgir. Rajgir is around 100 KM from both Patna and Mokameh. It is located in a green valley surrounded by rocky hills, Rajgir hills. A daily Indian Railways train Shramjeevi Express connects Rajgir with the Indian capital New Delhi.
The name Rajgir came from Rājagṛiha 'house of the king' or royal house, or the word rajgir might have its origin in its plain literal meaning, royal mountain. It was the ancient capital city of the Magadha kings until the 5th century BC when Udayin(460-440 BC), son of Ajatshatru, moved the capital to Pataliputra.[4] In those days, it was called Rajgrih, which translates as 'the home of Royalty'. Shishunaga founded Shishunaga dynasty in 413 BCE with Rajgir as its initial capital before it was moved to Pataliputra.
Rajgir is also famous for its association with Mauryan dynasty Kings Bimbisara and Ajatashatru. Ajatashatru kept his father Bimbsara in captivity here. The sources do not agree which of the Buddha's royal contemporaries, Bimbisara and Ajatashatru, was responsible for its construction. Ajatashatru is also credited with moving the capital to Pataliputra (modern Patna).
Buddha's cave, Griddhakuta Hill, Rajgir.
The epic Mahabharata calls it Girivraja and recount the story of its king, Jarasandha, and his battle with the Pandava brothers and their allies Krishna. Jarasandha who hailed from this place, had been defeated by Krishna 17 times. The 18th time Krishna left the battlefield without fighting.[5] Because of this Krishna is also called 'ranachorh' (one who has left the battlefield).[6] Mahabharata recounts a wrestling match between Bhima (one of the Pandavas) and Jarasandha, the then king of Magadha. Jarasandha was invincible as his body could rejoin any dismembered limbs. According to the legend, Bhim split Jarasandha into two and threw the two halves facing opposite to each other so that they could not join. There is a famous Jarasandha's Akhara (place where martial arts are practiced). It is also mentioned in Jain and Buddhist scriptures, which give a series of place-names, but without geographical context. The attempt to locate these places is based largely on reference to them and to other locations in the works of Chinese Buddhist pilgrims, particularly Faxian and Xuanzang. It is sacred to the memory of the founders of both the religions: Jainism and Buddhism and associated with both the historical Mahavira and Buddha.
Lord Mahavira, 24th Tirthankara spent fourteen years of his life at Rajgir and Nalanda, spending Chaturmas (i.e. 4 months of the rainy season) at a single place in Rajgir (Rajgruhi) and the rest in the places in the vicinity. It was the capital of one of his Shravaks(follower) King Shrenik. Thus Rajgir is a very important religious place for Jains. The twentieth Jain tirthankara, Munisuvrata is supposed to have been born here.An ancient temple(about 1200 years old) dedicated to Munisuvrat bhagwan is also present here along with many other jain temples. This temple is also a place for four Kalyanakas of Bhagwan Munisuvratnath.

Rajgir is located 15 kms from Nalanda and 100 km from Patna in Bihar. Rajgir (Rajgriha) meaning the abode of Kings, has been mentioned first in the ancient Hindu epic Mahabharata. It has been estimated by scholars that the city must be at least 3000 years old. Rajgir has been closely related to Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism and has played host to Lord Buddha and Mahavira, thus has many archaeological sites related to Buddhism and Jainism.
Moreover, Rajgir is one of the leading health and winter resorts of India, with its warm water ponds. Cyclopean Ruins Found All Over Earth Built By Giants?
Patreon:
Facebook:
Twitter:
Steemit:
Many of the words which we use in the modern day, are derived from far more ancient sources, than most would imagine.
Many of the words that we use for objects and activities, which have been around since time in memorial, have their named origins placed near the birth, of some of the earliest civilisations to have ever walked upon our planet.
As such, if beings such as giants did once exist on earth, one would not only expect to find enormous unexplained ruins, but also these lexical inspirations given to the activities, undertaken by these huge people.
Is it then just a mere coincidence, that ancient, enormous stone walls, are often named “cyclopean?”
Cyclops having once been an ancient, one eyed giant within ancient Greek and roman mythology.
Is it also but a mere coincidence, that the giant found within biblical stories, namèd goliath, was also a one-eyed beast?
Was the name given to these enormous ruins, a clue to their original builders?
A clue left upon spoken language, a remnant far more difficult to erase from history, than any physical remains…
Found everywhere on earth, and even dotting some of the most remote tropical islands, these cyclopean ruins still perplex us to this day.
Many of the ancient cyclopean ruins that can be found within developed areas, have often been draped with modern architecture, many suspect that this is often done, in an attempt to conceal the true nature of these sites.
Italy, is a particularly good example of a country drenched in cyclopean architecture, yet chooses to overlook such wonders in favour of modern development.
Scattered throughout ancient Latium, and yet again, coincidentally, placed at the location of a later, flourishing civilisation, and actually the first real modern-world super power, Rome,,, are ruins undoubtedly left by an as yet, not publicly disclosed, or studied branch of ancient beings, who were capable of feats we are yet to unravel.
Many classical writers and historians, including Homer, Hesiod, Plutarch, Thucydides, and Diodorus Siculus, among others, posited the idea that the Cyclopean ruins of Italy, and others within Europe, were erected by this now-extinct Cyclopean race.
And we seemingly continue to carry this torch.
For to heavily research,, not only these particular areas of ancient architecture,,, but the many individuals who have made remarkable discoveries over the years,,, along with reels of newspaper archives,,, with an interest in these particular finds,,, and also the suspected individuals tasked with the possible concealment of such… The proposition of an unknown, ancient race of controversial beings,,, possibly much larger than modern humans,,, having once existed on our planet, has become overwhelming.
Why are ancient ruins, seemingly built by a race of giants, actually named after giants?
A name with origins placed far within our distant past?
Did an ancient race of giants once build the countless unexplained ruins, found on virtually every continent?
We find the evidence within some areas,,, to suggest such, overwhelming.
