Columbia River Gorge Motorcycle Ride: Cascade Locks to The Dalles
Ride with us 45 miles on Oregon's Columbia River Gorge Scenic Byway. Continuing along Interstate 84 at Cascade Locks we ride east through Hood River before jumping off the interstate at the little town of Mosier. At Mosier we follow the Historic Columbia River Highway and climb high above the Columbia River to Rowena Point. Dropping down from Rowena Point we ride through the famous Rowena Loops and on to the Columbia Gorge town of The Dalles. Part 2 of 4.

A Greyhound bus ride along the Columbia Gorge section of Interstate 84 in Oregon, with view of the Oregon countryside along the Columbia River and the Washington State side of the river between Hood River and just east of The Dalles.

Approach and landing for the third leg of the trip into the Dalles, OR.
The Dalles is in Oregon, however, the airport (across the river) is actually in the state of Washington. The state line is in the middle of the river.

2018 Columbia River Motorcycle Trip Day 3 - The Dalles to Kennewick
On day 3 we left The Dalles, Oregon and headed to Kennewick, Washington, following the Columbia River that Lewis & Clark explored in 1805.
Hwy 14, in Washington State, on the north side of the Columbia and US Rte 730 in Oregon, are beautiful, scenic highways.

Anderson Fruit was founded in 1989 after the family sold their transportation company and bought bare land just outside of The Dalles, Oregon. Today the property is known world wide for their amazing cherries.
The area is home to great growing conditions, optimal temperatures, and limited rainfall. Interestingly, The Dalles is home to a unique climate in compression to its neighboring communities.

The Dalles real estate market appears to be relatively stable compared to other cities and states. Home prices have indeed declined from 2008 to 2009 but only by 15 to 20 percent. The highest number of sales are found in the under $350,000 segment and prices appear to be stabilizing going into the year 2010. Contributing factors to support the stability of the market include affordability, with median prices now under $200,000 and low mortgage rates plus the recently extended government tax credits. For all of these reasons The Dalles real estate is a great investment.
In The Dalles real estate market, the climate has similarities to a Mediterranean climate, making Oregon an attractive place to live with its mild winters and dry summers.
