Article on Lubbock TX
Buying a house is an exciting plan, and picking a place to buy it in can be even more exciting. Let's say that you're thinking of buying Lubbock real estate or are considering looking through Lubbock homes for sale. This city is the 87th largest city in the United States, with 199,564 in population. The city has a nickname of The Hub City because it's seen as the economic and education hub of the South Plain Regions.
There are many things that you can consider as highlights of investing on Lubbock real estate. Here are just a few of them:
1. Local Economy - Lubbock was once called as one of the best place in Texas to start a business. The community has relatively less expensive rent for commercial establishments. The local government is also very supportive to entrepreneurs, and the community's traditional business atmosphere as well as its auspicious location makes it a great location for businesses in the area.
2. Good schools - The presence of good schools is important when considering whether a community is a good place to make a real estate investment. Properties near schools tend to have higher value than others too far away from them. This community has a number of good public and private schools in it, most notable is Lubbock High School which has been recognized several times by Newsweek as one of the best high schools in the United States. There's also the Texas Tech University, as well as private schools like Trinity Christian High School, and others.
3. Cultural Scene - Lubbock has an interesting musical culture, especially since it's the birthplace of Buddy Holly, a rock and roll legend. There's even a cultural center named after him. The city also hosts an annual Lubbock Music Festival. There are also other cultural events such as the National Cowboy Symposium and Celebration, Broadway events, and other fairs and live bands throughout the year.
4. Local Attractions - The community has a number of local attractions like the National Ranching Heritage Center, which contains artefacts about the local ranching history. It also contains several authentic historic buildings and weapons on display. There's also the Depot District which is the night life and music hub of the city. There's also the Silent Wings Museum where artifacts and photographs from the World War II. There are also a lot of parks and historic places to enjoy.
There are many things that would make a place an ideal place to live in and a lot of it has to do with what you want and what you need. The value of your house not only depends on the technicalities that make a real estate property a good investment. It's also important that you invest in a property where you see yourself living and enjoying. After all, buying a house is a serious commitment and one you will have to stick with for several years.

Hello from MCRD Dec 16 2018
Planning the perfect meeting in Lubbock, Texas
Sammy, a meeting and event planner, sends a video postcard to her friend Ted about Lubbock, Texas, which will be hosting her company's annual conference. While doing her site visit, she discovers all of the big-city amenities, small-town charm and surprising perks that make Lubbock a perfect destination for corporate, association, social, military and religious groups. Created for Visit Lubbock. For more information, go to
Here's a transcript of the video:
Dear Ted,
I just finished my site tour in Lubbock, Texas and I had to tell you about it. Remember last year's convention, where we spent most of our time on shuttles? Well, not this year. Getting around is so quick and easy in Lubbock. In fact I think a lot of things are going to be easier here.
Everyone is so friendly and makes you feel so welcome, everywhere you go. I think that will really play well with my association — and with that church group you're working with. Actually, they have one of the best and most affordable golf courses in the US. I know you need to look out for that executive retreat you're planning, in terms of budget and perception, so you may want to look at Lubbock for that too.
My association meeting is about 250 to 300 people, so I was thinking about using the Overton Hotel & Conference Center as our host hotel. It's the only Four Diamond hotel in West Texas, and we could all meet under one roof. But there are a lot of other options for overflow or for smaller groups like the Holiday Inn Hotel & Towers, Holiday Inn Park Plaza, LaQuinta, Embassy Suites and Hawthorne Suites.
For our opening reception, I was thinking of using the Silent Wings Museum. Most of the World War II glider pilots were trained there. The CVB knew a great swing band I could use. In fact, there were so many musical resources and music-themed venues here that I'm going make that a major part of this meeting.
There's the Buddy Holly Center and the West Texas Walk of Fame. You can get group tickets to see shows at Moonlight Musicals or the Cactus Theatre, and most of it is located in the Historic Depot Entertainment District. I was thinking of doing a progressive event though there one evening. I really want my group to sample the variety of sights, sounds and tastes Lubbock has to offer. Because this small town has so many big city amenities!
In fact, I just assumed that most of their events were in the 250 to 450-person range. I had no idea they do up to 11,000-person meetings. Then I remembered the United Spirit Arena on the Texas Tech campus, which seats 15,000 people, and they also have the weather — and the plazas — to do large outdoor events as well.
I checked out the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center for you. I think you'll like it a lot. Their 40,000-sq. ft. exhibit hall is column-free, which I knew you'd love. And they also have a 1,400-seat theater and 14,000-sq. ft. banquet hall.
I also thought you'd like the American Wind Power Center, home to the largest windmill museum in the world, — you can take your groups there to learn about renewable energy, and they also have meeting and event space.
Hey, did you know that Texas Tech has amazing speakers? The CVB is going to help me secure a couple. Oh! And they have a place where you can go and watch prairie dogs. It's called Prairie Dog Town — I love them. I think I'm going to have to fit that in somewhere — maybe for a spousal or family tour.
For our closing night reception, I'm going to book the Cap Rock Winery. It's housed in a beautiful Spanish Mission-style building and features event space perfect for groups both big and small. There's actually a total of 5 wineries around Lubbock, all of which offer tours and tastings.
The CVB is really taking great care of me. They're hooking me up with welcome bags and programs, on-site registration and tours, signage, name badges, press releases for local media and I think the Mayor is going to come and welcome our group. How cool is that?
Well Ted, I'd love to tell you more, but I have to sign off so I can enjoy this amazing sunset at a Lubbock hot spot called The Roof. I may have to figure out how to bring people here too.
OK, see you soon. Hopefully next spring in Lubbock!
Your friend, Sammy.

I met up with open carry Tx. in Temple Tx. today. We have a right to bear our arms. Freedom says that a man can bear his arms , and not have them bound by others. To love, or work. To play , or to defend. To bear your arms is to be a free man. To have them bound is to be a slave. God bless the Republic.
