Rock of Cashel in County Tipperary, Ireland. This was the seat of the ancient kings of Munster. It is said to have been visited in the 5th century by Saint Patrick, who blessed the reigning monarch. In the 12th century, a cross was erected to honour this event.

Annagh Castle, County Tipperary
The castle is clearly marked on the Ordnance Survey 6-Inch Maps of 1842, where it is noted as Annagh Castle. The local townland is Annagh, in the civil parish of Kilbarron and the barony of Lower Ormond in the county of Tipperary. It sits on the borderlands where lordship changed hands between the O'Brien and O'Kennedy clans over a lengthy period of time.
Situated on an elevated rock outcrop on high ground in an upland area, it overlooks Annagh Lake to the southwest and Lough Derg to the west. Today, it still dominates the lake today like a lighthouse and is a landmark for mariners upon the lake.
This is a 16th century four-storey towerhouse of the O'Kennedy clan, leased to John Hurley in the early 17th century. It is described in the Civil Survey (1654-6) as an 'old castle ye walls onely standing '
John Hurley is listed as proprietor in 1640. John Hurley is noted as the 'pprietor in fee by purchase from Mortagh O Bryen long before the rebellion (as wee informed)' alongside Rory Kennedy. So the castle ownership had changed during its useful lifetime from the Kennedys to the O'Briens and to the Hurleys. These Hurleys who held extensive lands in this barony and in nearby county Limerick, were described in the Civil Survey as 'Papist Knights'.
The castle has remained in ruins since the 17th Century.
