At Matt's we really love our food. In fact, to paraphrase Don Quixote we believe that all sorrows are less with a good meal. We have put up our complete menu so that you can see the veritable magnificent array of our culinary delights, well what we really mean is, here's a list of what tastes really good at Matt's!
By the way we also have specials every day so feel free to pop in for a look and if you say food tastes better at Matt's, we'll give you any starter and any main course you like for just €10 any lunchtime, Monday to Friday from 12noon to 3pm (excluding Bank Holidays and Festive Occasions). Oh and if you can think of a dish that you feel we should add to the menu just e-mail (including the recipe) to info@mattthemillers.com and if we use it we'll send you a €25 voucher for Matt's and we'll credit the dish to you on our menu!
At the heart and soul of Matt's is our main bar. Directly inside our front door and manned from early morning till late night, there will always be a warm welcome and a hearty smile waiting for you at Matt's Main Bar. Like all bars at Matt's, the main bar is ergonomically designed to ensure only the highest possible standards of service whether you're having a morning coffee, an afternoon tea, an early evening beverage or a pint with friends at one of Matt's famous party nights.
Every effort is made to ensure that our extensive menus of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are constantly updated to make sure that every taste is catered for. We even keep our chocolate snacks in the fridge because everyone knows that chocolate tastes best when it's cool and crisp! Matt's extensive food menu is also available at the main bar commencing with our breakfast service which runs until mid-day and is followed by our lunch service and then completed by our full a-la-carte evening meal service which runs until 9pm daily & 10pm in summertime. So, whatever you're looking for and whenever you want it -- you can rest assured that it's waiting for you at Matt's Main Bar.
Kinsale, Ireland and the Rock of Cashel
Kinsale in the south of Ireland is a coastal village famous for its brightly colored shops, gourmet restaurants and significant history.

Mostly you’ll find that it’s the perfect small town to walk around in. Did we mention pubs yet? Oh yes, you’ll find lots of Irish music in the pubs of Kinsale. It is a small town with a friendly atmosphere. It’s the kind of place where you just want to hang out and relax.
Kinsale has become one of Ireland's most popular visitor destinations, and yet it is somewhat remote.
It's not very crowded except for a couple of months in the summertime when it does get rather busy.
The rest of the year it's a little bit more quiet and peaceful than the other major Irish destinations, because it's on the far southern shore away from the main intercity highways. Coming in through the little downtown, we’re soon driving along the marina as we get to our hotel, the Actons, nicely located just a short walk from the town center.
One of the defining characteristics and most pleasant aaspects of the city is that it's right on the water. There's a big natural harbor that played a large role in its history and economy, which has involved fishing and trading with Europe, and some important military battles because of its strategic location. More on that later.
The town consists of well-preserved historic buildings because during the twentieth century this area was in economic decline. Nothing much happened here, there was very little development. And so the old buildings from centuries ago are still standing. It's one of those delightful historical sequences where a town was booming in the 1600s and 1700, 1800s with many attractive shops and homes built in a nicely organized village center, then went into decline, left alone for a hundred years, and now it's been rediscovered. The buildings are all renovated and painted in a lively variety of colors.
In the last forty years, Kinsale has really blossomed and has bounced back today as a very attractive destination, with sThe largest public gathering place is Market Square, which has the only pedestrian streets in town.

The Pogues - The Wild Rover
I've been a wild rover for many's a year,
And I've spent all my money on whiskey and beer
And now I'm returning with gold in great store,
And I never will play the wild rover no more
And it's no, nay, never!
No nay never no more
And I'll play the wild rover,
No never no more
I went to an alehouse I used to frequent,
And I told the landlady my money was spent
I asked her for credit, she answered me, Nay,
Saying, Custom like yours I can have any day
And it's no, nay, never!
No nay never no more
And I'll play the wild rover,
No never no more
I took from my pocket ten sovereigns bright,
And the landlady's eyes opened wide with delight
She said, I have whiskeys and wines of the best,
And the words that I told you were only in jest
And it's no, nay, never!
No nay never no more
And I'll play the wild rover,
No never no more
I'll go home to my parents, confess what I've done,
And I'll ask them to pardon their prodigal son
And when they have kissed me as oft-times before,
I never will play the wild rover no more
And it's no, nay, never!
No nay never no more
And I'll play the wild rover,
No never no more

The Dead School by Pat McCabe @ Tricycle Theatre
Ireland of the 70s: crashing headlong into the warring forces of change and tradition.
Schoolmaster Raphael Bell is devoted to traditional teaching values, while on the other side, Schoolmaster Malachy Dudgeon loves rock music and makes rules only in order to break them. When these two men and all they represent come together, chaos is only round the corner.
The drama dances between the past and the present, and music and song are seamlessly interwoven in this powerful story of the love men leave behind in the pursuit of what they think is life.

How to peel an avocado (the easy way)
The easiest way to peel an avocado. I used to peel about 150 avocados a day in one restaurant I worked in, and this is the best way by far. Use a large metal spoon as its easier. And have a freshly cut lemon to squeeze over the avocado so it won't discolour. Also something I didn't do in the video have a bowl of water to rinse your hands in to get any soft avocado off. Happy eating.
Hot chili sauce tasting
The 'Curry in a Hurry' food demo at Noyeks Newmans Kilkenny.
One of our lovely guests at the demo tries a super hot 'Scotch Bonnet' chili pepper sauce with an onion bahji, and loves it. I couldn't believe that amazing tolerance to the chili well done Nicole ;)
