La ville portuaire de Dingle est située sur la Péninsule de Dingle, dans le comté de Kerry en Irlande.
Erigée en bord de mer, cette ville dynamique possède un charme fou avec ses maisons aux façades multicolores.
On y retrouve une multitude de boutiques, pubs et restaurants. Il y a même un aquarium qui abrite, entre autres, plusieurs espèces de requins de l'Irlande.
Nous n'avons fait qu'un court arrêt dans cette ville, le temps d'aller se chercher un lunch au SuperValu.
Cependant, nous nous sommes promenés en voiture dans quelques rues de cette jolie ville. Donc, vous aurez toute de même la possibilité d'en avoir un aperçu dans cette vidéo.

Trekking and Wild Camping in the Brandon Massif, Dingle Peninsula, County Kerry, Ireland

In the second of our Wild Ireland film series, we visit the Dingle Peninsula, County Kerry, surrounded on three sides by the mighty Atlantic Ocean, with a spine that is rugged and mountainous. The Brandon Massif can lay claim to some of the most picturesque views of seascapes and glacial mountainscapes in Ireland, offering among the very best hillwalking experiences this island has to offer. We undertook a three day trek with two nights wild camping over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend in April 2015, in glorious weather conditions. Starting from Mount Brandon Hostel in Cloghane, we did a circular route covering over 40km, taking in 12 summits including Mount Brandon at 952m. With utterly face-slapping scenery in fine weather, this untamed and scenic corner of Western Europe, an integral part of the Wild Atlantic Way, is unsurpassed and unparalleled in its raw beauty.

We've been exploring the West Coast of Ireland and now we’re visiting Dingle which some people would say is the finest destination in the country. Dingle is a lush green peninsula extending out into the Atlantic Ocean.
Entering the Dingle Peninsula and passing through villages of Blennerville, Camp and Annascaul.
We stop by the roadside for a lovely view looking down towards the coast and across the green fields.
Next stop, Dingle, our home base for the next couple days. The town is one of Ireland's best with excellent hotels, of course many pubs, and in recent years, Dingle has become one of the gourmet capitals of the country with many fine restaurants. We will be taking you inside a couple of them. The drive in gave us a nice overview and will be taking you on several walks through town.
Most visitors find the real attraction is the surrounding areas with the beautiful countryside and the historic sites. With a few minute’s drive, you are at the edge of town and beyond that, you're in the countryside almost immediately.
So we hop in our van and do a tour of the peninsula. It's not unusual to run into some rain when you're out here in the far tip of Europe, in the Atlantic Ocean. And we had some rain this morning, but it cleared up a little bit during the day.
Dingle is a peninsula sticking into the sea at the western edge of Europe, set amid wild green scenery surrounded by the ocean.
One of the main historic sites you'll see is Dunbeg Fort. It's quite typical of the Celtic fortresses of the Iron Age in Ireland. It's built right up against the edge of a cliff, so it's easy to defend itself with the big walls on one side and the sea cliff on the other.

A moins d'un kilomètre de l'Église de Kilmalkedar, se trouve un fort composé de cinq petites huttes en pierre entourées d'un muret circulaire. Ce site daterait possiblement du VIII ou IXe siècle.
A cette époque, un passage souterrain aurait été construit, mais il n'est plus accessible. Son entrée a été bloquée.
Sa localisation lui permettait d'avoir une excellente vue sur toute la région.
Juste à côté, se trouve un bâtiment en ruines du XIVe siècle qui pourrait avoir été la Maison d'un chancelier, un membre du diocèse qui recevait des redevances sur l'argent recueilli auprès des habitants de la paroisse de Kilmalkedar.

Driving the Ring of Kerry is surely a wonderful treat. We also drove the Skellig Ring, went to Knightstown on Valentia Island, Dingle and the Dingle Peninsula, Portmagee (omg the cutest town in Ireland) and even to a cute little cheese shop.
We stayed overnight in Kilorglin, Killarney, and Kilkenny, and Limerick.
#Ireland is very charming and enchanting! I must return! It reminded me a lot of #Alaska and of #Oregon.
DO NOT FORGET THAT THEY DRIVE ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE ROAD THAT THE AMERICANS DO!!!! I nearly got into a wreck 10 minutes after picking up the rental car in Cork !!!!!

Cet établissement est très bien situé car il est à proximité du centre-ville de Dingle.
Nous avions réservé une chambre avec un lit double et lorsque nous sommes arrivés dans la chambre, nous avons plutôt constaté qu'il s'agissait de deux lits jumeaux.
Nous avons tout de suite informé le préposé à la réception de cette situation et comme il n'y avait plus aucune disponibilité, il a accepté de baisser le prix de la nuitée.
Les lits sont très confortables et la propreté règne. Le café, le thé et deux bouteilles d'eau sont offerts gracieusement. Il y a un téléviseur et le WiFi est gratuit.
Dans la salle de bain, mis à part, la toilette et le lavabo, on y retrouve également un bain et une douche.
L'hôtel possède également une boîte de nuit, mais nous n'y sommes pas allés.
L'ameublement de style vieillot et les boiseries lui apportent un certain charme.
Le petit déjeuner n'est pas inclus dans le prix de la nuitée. Des frais supplémentaires de 8 € par personne sont exigés si l'on désire s'en prévaloir.
En ce qui nous concerne, nous n'avons pas pris le petit déjeuner à l'hôtel. Nous avions plutôt acheté quelques croissants au supermarché.

Facilement accessible par la Slea Head Drive (R559).
Nous avons passé peu de temps à cet endroit. Par contre, cette plage mérite le détour car le décor est réellement enchanteur. Les collines et montagnes en arrière-plan agrémentent le paysage.
De plus, elle est propice pour entreprendre une longue promenade.
Plusieurs espèces d'oiseaux peuvent également être observées dans cette région.

Kilmalkedar Church - Dingle Peninsula - County Kerry - Ireland

Kilmalkedar est un monastère qui a été érigé au VIIe siècle. On y retrouve encore aujourd'hui les ruines d'une église romane du XIIe siècle, une pierre comportant des oghams, une croix paleo-chrétienne, un cadran solaire et un petit cimetière dont certaines tombes dateraient semble-t-il du XVe siècle.
A proximité de l'église se trouve un autre bâtiment connu sous le nom de la Maison de Saint Brendan ou la Maison du Prêtre. Le puits de Saint-Brendan est situé à proximité de cet édifice.
Derrière ce site, il y a également un sentier de randonnée de plusieurs kilomètres, plus précisément une voie de pèlerinage qui mène au Mont Brandon.

Inch Beach - Dingle Peninsula - County Kerry - Ireland

Une jolie plage de 4 km idéale pour la randonnée. Elle est très fréquentée par les surfeurs.
Évidemment, le paysage change au gré du temps. Lors de journées ensoleillées, le panorama est tout simplement époustouflant, tellement la couleur de l'eau, des dunes et des montagnes à l'horizon est impressionnante.
Lors de notre passage, le ciel était hélas tristounet, ce qui ne rendait vraiment pas hommage à la beauté des lieux. Mais il faut dire que nous avons tout de même vraiment apprécié le décor.
