The wreck of U 12, Firth of Forth, North Sea 2019
The German coastal submarine U 12 was patrolling the east coast of Scotland in March 1915. After sinking a 1000-ton British steamship carrying a cargo of coal she was hunted down by three British destroyers the following day, Aerial, Acheron and Attack.
She was sighted on the surface by the destroyers and as she made to dive she was rammed near the bow. She then resurfaced and was engaged by British guns. She sank with the loss of 20 crew and her wreck now rests upright in 50 metres in the Firth of Forth, North Sea.

North East Dive May 16 Kinlochbervie Trip
A short video of North East Dive's May Trip to Kinlochbervie. We enjoyed great vis and some super sightings. Highlights were Whaleback rock, a stunning wall covered in deadmens fingers & jewel anemone's, you could see the top from 30m. Then Ministers point is an unusual dive, a narrow gulley which you can sqeeze down to a small cave at the end. A fabulous dive on Handa Island, covered in dead mens fingers, lots of gulleys, finished off with a large Skate at the end of the dive. Looking forward to returning for a week in September & October.

Diving the SS Politician
A short dive on the wreck of the SS Politician which was an 8000-ton cargo ship owned by T & J Harrison of Liverpool. It left Liverpool on 3 February 1941, bound for Kingston, Jamaica and New Orleans with a cargo including 28,000 cases of malt whisky. The ship sank off the north coast of Eriskay in the Outer Hebrides, off the west coast of Scotland, and much of the wreck's cargo was salvaged by the island's inhabitants. The story of the wreck and looting was the basis for the book and film Whisky Galore!.

Scapa Flow
Scapa Flow is a body of water in the Orkney Islands, Scotland, United Kingdom, sheltered by the islands of Mainland, Graemsay, Burray, South Ronaldsay and Hoy. The Harbour Authority area of Scapa Flow in Orkney has been measured as part of a wider consultation in ballast water management in 2013, and it has been accurately calculated that Scapa Flow is 324.5 square kilometres in area and that this area contains just under 1 billion cubic metres of water. This statistic makes Scapa Flow the second largest natural harbour in the World after Sydney Harbour, Australia. Scapa Flow is one of Britain's most historic stretches of water - located within the Orkney Islands, off the northeast coast of Scotland. Its sheltered waters have been used by ships since prehistory and it has played an important role in travel, trade and conflict throughout the centuries - especially during both World Wars. It is currently a world famous diving location with the wrecks of the scuttled German Fleet offering unique diving challenges. Scapa Flow is also a major oil port and served the Flotta Oil Terminal and is a prime location of ship-to-ship transfers of crude oil product and liquefied natural gas. The world’s first ship to ship transfer of LNG took place in Scapa Flow in 2007.
