Outward Bound Beware - Other Colour Pics Share This Title (1961)
Eskdale, Cumberland.
Beautiful scenic view of a lake before a mountain as a man paddles past in a canoe; pan left to show a country house. M/S of a group of young men (aged between about 15 and 19) sitting outside with maps; an instructor is pointing to a gradient map of a mountain; commentator tells us they are at the Outward Bound school, where they will make a man and a mountaineer out of any young lad.
L/S of the country house as the boys come running out and across the field; they are all dressed only in shorts or trunks, and look quite a pale and pasty lot! Various shots of them on their cross-country run, past the lake and then along a stream where the instructor lets loose a shute of water onto their heads as they go by - very character building, I'm sure.
We then see some boys in canoes going down a river while the others watch; point of view shot from a canoe as we go over some minor rapids. A group of four boys walking through the hills with rucksacks stop to look at a map, then climb over a stone wall and cross a stream.
M/S of a young lad climbing up a rope attached to a high tree branch, then sliding down another rope to land on the branch of another tree. Boys are seen walking across a rope 'bridge' strung between two trees. The group of boys watch while one lad hurtles down a rope on a pulley device over a hill.
M/S of the exterior of a modern chapel with a glass front; the boys are seen going in as commentator tells us the school chapel was built by the boys and staff last year as a memorial to one of the instructors who was drowned on holiday. M/Ss inside the chapel as the boys file in and sit down; the glass front of the chapel looks out onto the lake and mountains; the curate starts the service.
Note: on file is a booklet about the Outward Bound Mountain School plus a leaflet detailing the areas covered on the courses.

WALLINGTON HALL NORTHUMBERLAND 2011
Wallington is a country house and gardens located about 12 miles (19 km) west of Morpeth, Northumberland, England, near the village of Cambo. It has been owned by the National Trust since 1942, after it was donated complete with the estate and farms by Sir Charles Philips Trevelyan, the first donation of its kind. It is a Grade I listed building.
The estate was owned by the Fenwick family from 1475 until their financial problems caused them to sell their properties to the Blacketts. The hall house was rebuilt in 1688 around the ancient Pele Tower house for Sir William Blackett and was later substantially rebuilt again, in Palladian style, for Sir Walter Blackett by architect Daniel Garret, before passing to the Trevelyan family in 1777. Charles Philips Trevelyan inherited the property from his father George Otto Trevelyan in 1928.
After Pauline Jermyn married the naturalist Sir Walter Calverley Trevelyan, they began hosting literary and scientific figures at the Hall. As a cultural centre, Wallington visitors included the members of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood.
Set in 100 acres (40 ha) of rolling parkland, the estate includes a wooded dene (valley), ornamental lakes, lawns, and a recently refurbished walled garden.
Alongside the beautifully furnished interior, attractions inside the house include the desk where Thomas Babington Macaulay, brother-in-law of Charles Edward Trevelyan, wrote his History of England, a large collection of antique dollshouses and eight murals in the central hall depicting the history of Northumberland, painted by William Bell Scott.
The National Trust also own the estate of which the house is a part; the produce from these farms, as well as others in the region, is sold in a farm shop on site. The farm shop shut in 2012.

Take off from luxury hotel Hambleton Hall in a helicopter
What better way to visit this beautiful hotel than with a helicopter? Hambleton Hall is part of Relais & Chateau. Its restaurant has held a Michelin Star since 1982 - a record in the UK. A visit is the ultimate treat.
Although I have not tried it, I believe you can also visit the hotel by car. In fact the helipad is rather small and there are some high trees near by. Enjoy!

Vancouver, British Columbia [October 11, 2013]- VictorEric Design Group has recently completed the design & construction of the Noble residence, a contemporary family home with a smaller carbon footprint located in the South West Marine neighborhood of the lower mainland.
The Noble residence truly is a custom creation. The entrance of the home includes a two-story foyer and floating staircase leading to the second level of the home. The floating staircase wraps around a Japanese dry pond that was inspired by the clients' interest for Japanese modern design. Each of the three bedrooms upstairs have private bathrooms, and the lavish master suite is complete with an open concept bathroom which offers spectacular views of the backyard and pool. Located on the lower level of the home is a recreational room, sauna and spa, guest suite, and a temperature-controlled wine cellar with a 100 bottle capacity. The outdoor living areas include a beautiful rectangular in-ground pool, jacuzzi, and 5 mature cedar tress left undisturbed. The patio area contains a lounge area and fire pit with a glass canopy for coverage, allowing the family and guests to enjoy the outdoor living areas even on rainy Vancouver days.
