This is, in my opinion, Britain’s best public train. With a full service Pullman restaurant, a first class carriage, classic HST diesel haulage and a trip into England’s riviera county, Cornwall, this is the real deal. This one’s called the Royal Duchy after the Duchy of Cornwall (the Duke himself is Prince Charles).
The only thing that could make this trip better was the weather! We start at Paddington and wend our way down the Great Western Main Line, past Exeter, the Dawlish sea wall, and Plymouth, and crossing the most iconic railway bridge in England - Brunel’s magnificent Royal Albert Bridge.
My journey took me to Newquay so I alighted here at Par for the branch line to take me there. The cost of the ticket? £38.00 in first class. The meal in the Pullman car? Well that was more than the ticket! Well worth it though and I STRONGLY recommend you take this train or another of GWR’s Pullmans (all the Pullman trains are here: if you can manage it.

His latest brainchild is a new neighbourhood in a deprived area of Cornwall in England's southwestern corner. The Duchy of Cornwall is one of two royal duchies in England, the other being the Duchy of Lancaster. The eldest son of the reigning British monarch inherits possession of the duchy and title of Duke of Cornwall at birth or when his/her parent succeeds to the throne, but may not sell assets for personal benefit and has limited rights and income as a minor. If the monarch has no male children, the rights and responsibilities of the duchy belong to The Crown and there is no Duke. The current duke is Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales.
The principal activity of the duchy is the management of its land totalling 135,000 acres or 550 km2. Nearly half of the holdings are in Devon, with other large holdings in Cornwall, Herefordshire, Somerset and almost all of the Isle of Scilly. The duchy also has a financial investments portfolio. For the fiscal year ending 31 March 2013, the duchy was valued at £763 million, and annual profit was £19 million, a revenue surplus gain of 4.1% from the previous year.

The Queen arrives in Plymouth to say farewell to UK's BIGGEST warship HMS Ocean.
THE Queen has arrived in Plymouth where she will formally decommission one of Britain's biggest warships during a military ceremony. HMS Ocean, or the Mighty O as she is known throughout the fleet, has been sold to the Brazilian navy for £84million.
The Queen arrived at Plymouth Railway Station in Devon by royal train and proceed by car to HMNB Devonport, where there will be a 21 gun salute.
She may be turning 92 in April, but the monarch showed no signs of slowing down as she was greeted by Captain Robert Pedre, the commanding officer of HMS Ocean, who presented Admiral Sir Philip Jones, First Sea Lord, and Commodore Ian Shipperly, the Naval Base Commander, to the monarch.

Mobile kitchens go into action for refugees, rescue workers are aided by naval ratings as they dig through the ruins and try to get the town straight. 01. Barbican
The name given to the western and northern sides of the old harbour area. Two or three streets still retain some of the architecture of an old fishing port.
02. National Marine Aquarium
A marine aquarium. It was opened in May 1998. Divided into four main zones: Plymouth Sound, British Coasts, Atlantic Ocean and Blue Planet.
03. Plymouth Sound
A bay on the English Channel. The Titanic was supposed to have docked here briefly on its return voyage to Britain, and the ship had a painting of Plymouth sound on board.
04. Smeaton's Tower
The third and most notable Eddystone Lighthouse. In use from 1759 to 1877, it was largely dismantled and rebuilt on Plymouth Hoe where it now stands as a memorial to its designer.
05. Mayflower Steps
Consist of a commemorative portico with Doric columns. Was built in 1934. A small platform over the water with a brushed steel rail and a shelf with some nautical bronze artwork and historical information.
06. Royal Citadel
Was built in the late 1660s to the design of Sir Bernard de Gomme. Encompasses the site of the earlier fort that had been built in the time of Sir Francis Drake.
07. Cotehele
A mediaeval house with Tudor additions, situated in the parish of Calstock. One of the least altered of the Tudor houses in the United Kingdom.
08. Mount Edgcumbe House
A stately home in south-east Cornwall. Was the principal seat of the Edgcumbe family since Tudor times, many of whom served as MP.
09. Crownhill Fort
A Royal Commission Fort built in the 1860s in Crownhill as part of Lord Palmerston's ring of land defences for Plymouth. Now home to several small businesses, event spaces, a museum and a holiday apartment sleeping up to eight people.
10. Devonport Park
A public park located in Devonport. Dates back to the 1850s and is situated on former military land. The park is home to many historic monuments including a war memorial to the 2,000 Devonport citizens who died in the First World War.

The Duke of Cornwall Hotel is a hotel in the city of Plymouth, Devon, England.Built in Victorian Gothic style, it opened in 1865 to cater for the increasing number of travellers who were coming to the region by rail and sea.The hotel survived the World War II Plymouth Blitz without damage, and was the venue for regular functions throughout the war, even though the family that ran it were members of the fascist party and were removed from the city in 1944.In the 1970s and early 1980s it was threatened with closure but, helped by poet laureate John Betjeman's praise for its architecture, it was saved by a major refurbishment.

The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh have visited staff at Plymouths Wrigleys factory.
The royal couple toured the Estover plant to help workers celebrate the 40th birthday of the factory.
