Hotel Review: Rendezvous Sydney Central, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia - August 2015
I stopped in the Rendezvous Sydney Central Hotel in August 2015, two of us stayed there for seven nights in an executive room with bed and breakfast for £616 (AU$ 1,316), this was booked via Booking.com. Sydney is not a cheap city to stay in at any time of year, and this was one of the better deals that I could find in a good quality hotel.
The hotel is located a 2 minute walk from Sydney Central Railway Station, a 10 minute walk from Darling Harbour, and a 30 minute walk from Circular Quay. We used public transport to explore the city and bought 'Opal' pre-pay travel cards.
Our room was large and comfortable with a good view. The hotel had given us a complimentary bottle of bubbly, which was a lovely touch. We had a good view of Railway Square and all of its goings on (I had requested a room on a high floor with a good view, and I got it).
With the executive room, you get one free drink per person per night from the bar, and a free breakfast each morning. The breakfast buffet was truly international, and included a range of options, I was enjoying curry for breakfast on some mornings!
The staff were all helpful and polite, and I have no complaints whatsoever about them.
The rooftop pool was too cold to use (apart from my one and only attempt at a swim), but the rooftop did offer superb views of the city skyline.
This film features all public areas of the hotel that we explored as well as a room inspection, and sample breakfast buffet - enjoy!

What to Know Before Climbing Mount Everest This Year
“In response to Sherpa demands after the 2014 avalanche, the Nepali government raised the required insurance coverage scale for mountain workers. Life insurance increased 50 percent to $15,000 for high-altitude workers, and medical insurance will rise by 33 percent to $4,000, costs that are paid by expeditions.”
Will Everest's Climbing Circus Slow Down After Disasters?
“Barely a year after Everest’s worst disaster killed 16 Sherpas in an avalanche, the 2015 climbing season began as usual. A record number of climbers—359—assembled at the Base Camp, many of them repeaters from the aborted 2014 season. Even though April’s quake trumped the 2014 record death toll on the mountain, expectations are that 2016 will draw another large crowd.”
