Dinner at Celtic Manor Resort in Wales
Busy day out and about in Cardiff and dinner at the Celtic Manor outside Newport, Wales. We dined at their Steak on Six restaurant and it was great. The Celtic Manor Resort is a special place for me as we used to dine there with my grandfather while it was just the Celtic Manor House aka before the whole resort was built.

The Catacombs
Production footage from Computer Games Design students at the University of South Wales, Newport. Created as part of the Crytek/British Library 'Off The Map' competition 2013 and used within our 'Experimental Games' module.
Concept:
A young hero finds himself held prisoner to evil forces, incarcerated within a dark fortress. With no supplies and no hope of escape all seems lost, when out of the blue the cell door swings open to reveal a secret passage leading out of the prison and into the long forgotten catacombs of an ancient subversive city. The game's goal is to deliver a rich fantasy experience that alludes to the mythology behind the construction of Stonehenge.

03 Pontypridd V Newport - 24th October 2009
Preview: Pontypridd v Newport (Sardis Road, 2.30pm)
Oct 24 2009 by Our Correspondent, Western Mail
NEWPORT face the hardest task in Premiership rugby by attempting to win at Sardis Road as Ponty have won 24 and drawn one since losing to Cardiff on 29 December 2007.
The Dragons supply centre Rhodri Gomer Davies to boost the Newport effort and Shaun Connor, who has scored 903 points in 97 appearances for the club, is amongst the replacements. The pack shows one change as Richard Dale replaces Sam Waldron on the blind-side.
Coach Sven Cronk said: We played some good rugby at high tempo last week and we go there pretty upbeat.
The flu virus has laid low Ponty Aaron Bramwell and Chris Martenko and also ruled out are Kristian Dacey (shoulder) and Rhys Lloyd (sternum).
However, a front row of Sam Hobbs, Rhys Williams and Pat Palmer takes the field and prop Stuart Williams is back from injury on the bench.

Dai Manley's Try
Ponty V Neath Challenge Cup 1996
Although born in Essex, Dai Manley made his name with Newbridge in the Gwent Valleys, gaining representative honours with Wales A.
Upon moving to Pontypridd in 1993, he made an immediate impact, becoming top try scorer in the Welsh league in his first season.
Deceivingly quick off the mark, and with a sidestep that threw most opposing defences, Dai notched up a total of eighty tries for Pontypridd, making a huge contribution to the club's golden era in the mid nineties.
Dai left to play for Pontypool, and later became rugby co-ordinator at UWIC.

Swansea City Association Football Club is a Welsh professional football club based in the city of Swansea, South Wales that plays in the Premier League. Swansea City represent England when playing in European competitions, although they have represented Wales in the past. They play their home matches at the Liberty Stadium.
The club was founded in 1912 as Swansea Town and joined the Football League in 1921. The club changed their name in 1969, when it adopted the name Swansea City to reflect Swansea's new status as a city.
In 1981, the club were promoted to the original Football League First Division. It was during the following season they came close to winning the league title, but a decline then set near the season's end before finishing sixth, although a club record. It was from here the club suffered a relegation the season after, returning to the Football League Fourth Division a few seasons later, then narrowly avoided relegation to the Football Conference in 2003. Prior to playing home matches at the Liberty Stadium, the team had previously hosted at the Vetch Field. The Swansea City Supporters Society Ltd owns 20% of the club, with their involvement hailed by Supporters Direct as the most high profile example of the involvement of a supporters' trust in the direct running of a club.
In 2011, Swansea were promoted to the English Premier League, becoming the first Welsh team to play in the top division since its formation in 1992. On 24 February 2013, Swansea beat Bradford City 5-0 to win the 2012-13 Football League Cup (the competition's highest ever winning margin for the final), winning the first major English trophy in the club's history and qualifying for the 2013-14 UEFA Europa League.

10 Things to do in Cardiff, Wales Travel Guide
Join us from Cardiff, Wales as we cover 10 things to do in Cardiff city including popular attractions, cool castes, green escapes, and Welsh food worth trying in this travel guide. Although we were sick for most of our visit to Cardiff, UK we ended up still finding enough time to visit the city center, our neighborhood and a few off-the-beaten path attractions.
What we loved most about Cardiff, Wales is just how friendly the locals here are in the supermarkets, restaurants, pubs and cafe that we frequented. On a rainy day we might put on the kettle, down a few Welsh cakes and pop open our umbrella for a wee stroll. When it was sunny, which fortunately for us was most of the time, we enjoyed exploring castles and arcades while wandering around in parks.
Cardiff is a city you appreciate the more you linger. You start to find favorite cafes, restaurants and pubs you return to frequently and after a while you feel more like a local after recognizing faces in and around your neighborhood. This is what we'll remember most and why we recommend visiting Cardiff which is a city with more of a town vibe.

10 Things to do in Cardiff, Wales Travel Guide Video Script:
Well hello hello from Cardiff, Wales. New destination for us. New destination. It is our very first time to Wales and we're so excited to be here. We've wanted to come to Wales for a really long time and we're going to explore Cardiff and show you guys what you can do here in this travel guide.
We started our visit of Cardiff Castle with a self-guided tour of the Castle Apartments. This is the newest-looking part of the castle as it was renovated in the early 19th century in the Gothic revival style. As part of the tour we got to see the Banqueting Hall, the Library, and a few different rooms, but the place that really caught our attention was the Arab room designed in a Moorish style which is quite different from the rest of the rooms.
We continued on to the Norman Keep, which dates to the 11th century. The 12-sided structure sits atop a hill and is surrounded by a moat, and if you climb to the very top you get some nice 360 degree views of the city.
And lastly, we visited the roman walls, and although these too have been renovated, the foundations date back to 50 AD.
And that’s it for our visit to Cardiff, Wales. Our trip was short and sweet but we hope this video gave you a few ideas of things to do in Cardiff on your own visit. Now you know the drill, if you have any other suggestions of cool things to do in and around Cardiff, feel free to share those with fellow travellers in the comments below. Wishing you happy travels!

Description: The Rebecca Riots took place between 1839 and 1843 in South and Mid Wales. They were a series of protests undertaken by local farmers and agricultural workers in response to perceived unfair taxation. The rioters, often men dressed as women, took their actions against toll-gates, as they were tangible representations of high taxes and tolls. The riots ceased prior to 1844 due to several factors, including increased troop levels, a desire by the protestors to avoid violence and the appearance of criminal groups using the guise of Rebecca for their own purposes. In 1844 a Parliamentary act to consolidate and amend the laws relating to turnpike trusts in Wales was passed.
