Magong Walking Tour (Penghu, Taiwan)
Magong, sometimes Romanised as Makung, is Penghu's only city with around 60,000 residents.
Guanyin is a Buddhist temple named after and dedicated to the Goddess of Mercy. It sits on the west coast in downtown Magong facing Siyu Islet and is one of the oldest temples in Penghu. Over the years a large sea-side park called Guanyinting, which includes basketball and tennis courts, a playground and a sheltered bay for swimming, has been built around the temple.
Standing over the bay and joining the park’s ocean walkway is the Rainbow Bridge, probably one of the most iconic monuments in Penghu. The bridge lights up each night sending ripples of colour across the bay.

Best Summer Destination of Taiwan! Penghu Islands | Tanya Khanijow {subtitles available}
In the month of April I had the unique opportunity to explore Taiwan with 9 other Indian Bloggers and some members of the Taiwan Tourism Bureau. This video features Penghu Island. We landed at Magong Airport in Penghu island. And most of the places here are from Magong. We also witnessed Penghu fireworks festival on the island, but that's for vlog 2!

Four Points by Sheraton Taipei rejects ‘Taiwan, China’ listing in pushback against Beijing
China has forced some of the largest airlines in the world to change how they refer to Taiwan. It''s also compelled many Taiwanese businesses to bend to its political demands. In spite of Beijing''s growing influence, however, an international hotel in Taiwan has found the courage to push back. Four Points by Sheraton Taipei, which is located in New Taipei, took out a front-page ad on Liberty Times today. It protested that its location was being listed as, Taiwan, China, on the Marriott Group''s online booking system. Four Points announced that it was terminating its contract with Marriott Group and would no longer accept reservations through Marriott''s system.

Penghu islands, is located at Taiwan strait. 50minutes travel time by airplane from Taipei Shongshan Airport to Penghu Airport. Taking photos within Penghu airport are strictly prohibited.
We book a hostel, and rented a scooter for easy and convinient travelling around the island. Google is your best guide in finding directions and places.
Penghu also have food and drinks that are famous to tourists.

Follow a young man on his journey to Taiwan's most beautiful chain of islands.
Walking Around Kinmen's Jincheng (Kinmen, Taiwan)
Jincheng Township / 金城鎮 is an urban township on the southwestern corner of the island of Kinmen (Quemoy) and is the county seat of Kinmen County.
The town contains Jicheng Old Street for food and Mofan Street / 模範街 which means Model Street - its name comes from the uniform hybrid architecture of Chinese and Western styles. The construction of the street started in 1924 when the President of Kinmen Junior Chamber Fu His-chi held a fundraising drive among overseas Chinese. The street was completed in 1925. The 75 meter long street features buildings with brick exteriors and arched door fronts modeled after the Japanese, Fujian and Western architecture. There are 16 buildings at each side connected by a common arcade.
The Kinmen Military Headquarters of Qing Dynasty / 清金門鎮總兵署 is also a museum in Jincheng Township. The building was originally built as a study place for a scholar during the Ming Dynasty under the name Cong Qing Xuan. It was then transformed into the Kinmen Military Headquarters of Qing Dynasty during the rule of the Kangxi Emperor when Commander of Kinmen relocated his office from Jinmencheng to Jincheng due to a situation change and loss of population in Jinmencheng.
After the establishment of the Republic of China in 1912, the office building had been used for several different purposes, from Kinmen County Government, Defense Headquarter, Fujian Provincial Government and Kinmen Political Committee during the Taiwan Strait Crisis. In 1995, the Kinmen County Police Department and Tentative County Assembly were relocated to other place.
The building is a four-section house with three courtyards in between. The front courtyard spans over a wide area with a Leafy Banyan trees. At the back lies the centuries-old ceiba tree.

Experiencing my travels to Taiwan for the first time!!! Taking the Eva Airlines from Incheon Korea to Taiwan. First stop was at the Taoyuan Street Beef Noodle place. Then took the MRT to the Observatory at the Taipei 101 Building. Then ended the night with some midnight snack pick-ups at a 7-11.

Taipei residents will soon face higher taxi fares and more expensive water usage rates
Beginning in October, taxi fares will rise an average of 14 percent in Taipei, New Taipei and Keelung. And those living in Taipei may soon have to pay and additional NT$72 in monthly water fees beginning as early as next January.Taipei’s new water rates could go into effect as early as January 2016. While most people won’t need to pay more, those who use between 20 and 60 cubic meters will have to pay an additional fee of NT$22 to NT$72. Heavy users of water that use more than 1,000 cubic meters will need to pay at least NT$14,000 per month in higher fees. In the future, people around Taiwan may face the same higher rates.Yang Wei-fu Vice Minister of Economic Affairs In the future, the new formula could be applied by the Taiwan Water Corporation outside of the Taipei Water Department area, potentially even on the outlying islands. But we currently don’t have a schedule for this. Not only will water rates rise but so will taxi fares in Taipei, New Taipei and Keelung. While the basic flag fall rate won’t change, the fare will increase by NT$5 for every 200 meters traveled, with an additional NT$5 for every 80 seconds of idling. Previously, fares increased every 250 meters and 100 seconds of idling. This means that average taxi fares will increase by 14 percent.Wang Ming-hsiungTaxi Drivers’ AssociationThe average fare increase of 14 percent will add NT$294 each day for drivers. This will add up to several thousand NT dollars a month.Soon, Taipei residents will have little choice but to bite the bullet and pay these higher fees for everyday items.
