Thornbury Salmon Run
It's that time of the year folks, When the Salmon swim upstream to spawn in the Beaver River. They biggest hurdle they face is the Thornbury Dam . Originally built in 1855. The fish ladder was completed in the 90s From late August to late October*, adult spawning Chinook Salmon begin showing up in the area rivers. They are aggressive jumpers and provide exciting viewing as they migrate up stream and make their way up the Fishway to find suitable areas in gravel river beds. The adult Chinook die after they have spawned. After the eggs hatch the young salmon return to the lake the following spring. Love and Peace from Canada . We are Youtube

The Fishway RBG
Located at the mouth of the Desjardins Canal—the only channel that connects Cootes Paradise and Hamilton Harbour—the Fishway is the Great Lakes' first two-way fishway and carp barrier, and is one of the most visible indicators of the progress of Project Paradise.
The Fishway began operating in 1997. It is designed to keep non-native carp out of Cootes while maintaining the flow of water and populations of native aquatic species.
Before the installation of the Fishway, Cootes Paradise had an estimated carp population of about 70,000 adults. During the Fishway's first year of operation, 95% of carp were excluded from the marsh, and since then this number has continued to drop, with monitoring in recent years consistently finding less than 1,000 adult carp in the marsh.
Eliminating carp from Cootes Paradise is considered a vital first step in the marsh restoration process.)

Our Trip to Thornbury River Mouth in Early Spring 2018
THIS was filmed on Sunday, March 25, 2018. We checked see how the Anglers were doing at the river mouth in Thornbury, Ontario.
There are lots of broken up, large ice chunks along the shoreline. We see a glimpse of some of the ski hills at Collingwood from the lakeside.
I used my Olympus TG 5 to fim this, which I am still getting used to.
Oh well....at least I am concentrating on NOT saying Anyway too much! LOL! ;)
