Singapore Registry of Ships (SRS) 50th Anniversary
Established in 1966 at the former General Post Office (now known as The Fullerton Hotel Singapore) and currently managed by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, the Singapore Registry of Ships (SRS) is the administration responsible for executing the proper registration of ships sailing under the Singapore Flag and ensuring that ships and owners meet the stringent criteria that entitle their ships to obtain Singapore nationality. The SRS is amongst the world’s top ten registries with one of the youngest quality fleets. The strong growth of the Registry could be attributed to its reputation as a responsible and quality registry, also which is known for its reliability, efficiency and professionalism.
The video features the beginning of the Ship Registry, its growth over the past 50 years and the future ahead for both the Registry and its stakeholders. The experiences within this journey is shared through interviews with industry partners, as well as present and ex-MPA staff who have worked in the Registry.

Developed jointly by a Singapore-Canadian team of designers of Aims (Singapore) and Symmetrica (Canada), the projection show depicts multi-faceted aspects of who we are as a nation today as we build on this foundation to launch a better future for Singapore. This includes Singapore’s cultural and architectural richness, City in a Garden identity, modernity and vision of the future as we look ahead.
The projections are underscored by a rousing soundtrack arranged by Symmetrica’s Felipe Grytz and based on Victory, a composition by Singapore instrumental rock band, Paint the Sky Red’s. The band hopes that their song will serve as a soundtrack for self-reflection and contemplation.

L'entrepreneur principal était Ssangyong Engineering and Construction

The Republic of Singapore (/ˈsɪŋəpɔːr/ (About this sound listen), /ˈsɪŋɡə-/) is a sovereign city-state in Southeast Asia. It is sometimes referred to as the Lion City, Garden City or the Little Red Dot. It lies one degree (137 km) north of the equator, at the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula, with Indonesia's Riau Islands to the south. Singapore's territory consists of one main island along with 62 other islets. It shares maritime borders with Indonesia at the south while at the north Malaysia. Since independence, extensive land reclamation has increased its total size by 23% (130 km2) and its greening policy has covered the densely populated island with tropical flora, parks and gardens.
some of the tourism places that we should visit include Merlion Park, Henderson Waves, and Garden by the bay.
Merlion Park, is a Singapore landmark and major tourist attraction, located at One Fullerton, Singapore, near the Central Business District (CBD). The Merlion is a mythical creature with a lion's head and the body of a fish that is widely used as a mascot and national personification of Singapore. Two Merlion statues are located at the park. The original Merlion structure measures 8.6 meters tall and spouts water from its mouth. It has subsequently been joined by a Merlion cub, which is located near the original statue and measures just 2 metres tall.
Henderson Waves (亨德森波浪桥)) is a 274-metre-long (899 ft)[4] pedestrian bridge. At 36 metres (118 ft) above Henderson Road, it is the highest pedestrian bridge in Singapore. It connects Mount Faber Park and Telok Blangah Hill Park. It was designed by IJP Corporation, London, and RSP Architects Planners and Engineers (PTE) ltd Singapore.
The bridge has a wave-form made up of seven undulating curved steel ribs that alternately rise over and under its deck. The curved ribs form alcoves that function as shelters with seats within. Slats of yellow balau wood, an all-weather timber found in Southeast Asia, are used in the decking. The wave-forms are lit with LED lamps at night from 7 pm to 2 am daily.[1] It also was built in 2008 costing £25.5m.
Gardens by the Bay is a nature park spanning 101 hectares (250 acres) of reclaimed land[2] in central Singapore, adjacent to the Marina Reservoir. The park consists of three waterfront gardens: Bay South Garden, Bay East Garden and Bay Central Garden. The largest of the gardens is Bay South Garden at 54 hectares (130 acres).
Gardens by the Bay is part of a strategy by the Singapore government to transform Singapore from a Garden City to a City in a Garden. The stated aim is to raise the quality of life by enhancing greenery and flora in the city.

IISS Fullerton Lecture - India, the United States and China
President Obama’s visit to India on its Republic Day in January 2015 and the Modi – Xi meeting in Xian in May highlight a more active Indian foreign policy. Strengthened by a return to higher growth rates and a stronger political position, the Modi government is also directly linking its diplomacy to its development programmes at home. These developments portend a shift in the Asian strategic picture and are of particular interest to ASEAN that occupies its crossroads. In his Fullerton Lecture, India’s Foreign Secretary Dr S Jaishankar discussed these possibilities and challenges and spoke on the interplay of India, the US and China.

Flat Brush Watercolor Painting Exhibition by Hua Chai Yong @ ION Orchard, Singapore
Good Morning, Yesterday - The summary solo exhibition of the master of flat brush watercolor painting by local artist Hua Chai Yong presented some 26 works, featuring invited friends Leo Hee Tong and Yeo Siak Goon. This is held at the ION Art Gallery, level 4 of ION Orchard Shopping Mall.
Good Morning, Yesterday
Exhibiting Artists: Hua Chai Yong, Leo Hee Tong, Yeo Siak Goon
Venue: ION Art Gallery
Dates: 04 Sep 2010 - 12 Sep 2010
With a quick stab at his palette, Hua Chai Yong picks up enough paint to rapidly sketch the open air scene in front of him, and then proceeds to fill in the spaces outlined, one colour at a time, in short dabs and long trails. Welcome to his world of flat brush watercolours, of which Chai Yong is the pioneer in Singapore. The traditional British watercolour style predominant in Singapore and Malaysia uses round brushes which are good for fine lines, amorphous washes and dreamy, atmospheric scenes; the effect produced by Chai Yong’s flat brushes is direct, angular and lively. This imbues an active dynamism to the work when capturing familiar scenes from old communities, or exploring Singapore’s various maritime landscapes. Coupled with the artist’s penchant for unusual perspectives and colour-mixing, the works are bestowed with a sense of energy and freshness as if the artist were wishing his vignettes of yesteryear a cheery “Good Morning!”
To accompany him on his massive summary exhibition, Chai Yong has invited his former colleague from Bras Basah Community Centre, second-generation artist Leo Hee Tong, and ex-student and noted painter Yeo Siak Goon to accompany him on his journey down memory lane. What, after all, are reminiscences if not with friends?
About Hua Chai Yong
Singapore
Born in 1943, Chai Yong’s formative art years were spent at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts from 1963-1964. He participated in several group shows in Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan and Hong Kong, and held two solo exhibitons in 1979 and 1981. For his efforts, Chai Yong was awarded the Efficiency Medal by the President in 1975 (as community centre organizer and art instructor) and the Special Award at the National Day Art Exhibition in 1979 by the Ministry of Culture. He obtained a Consolation Prize in 1982, and Highly Commended Awards in 1983, 1986 and 1992 at the UOB Painting of the Year Competition. He was also Commended at the Australian Art Awards organized by the Australian High Commission in 1984.
