Whistler - Budget 2012: Charting our Financial Future
Since the new council was sworn in last December, the Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) staff and the Finance and Audit Committee have been working together to find savings and efficiencies for a budget that will deliver zero increase to taxes and utility fees in 2012. This mandate was clear through the 2011 Whistler municipal election, and started the dialogue with community members on the budget and financial planning process. The mayor confirmed a zero tax and utility fee increase for 2012 at the February 21, 2012 council meeting.
The March 12, 2012 Open House Notice was the first step in a longer-term, council-driven plan to bring increased stakeholder engagement and involvement to community and financial planning in the municipality. At the open house, staff and council shared the 2012 budget realities, explained the trade-offs required to implement a zero-increase budget, and started getting the community more involved in shaping the municipality's future financial plans.
Council is committed to a three-year action plan that addresses the municipality's current and longer-term success. The Mayor announced the five priority areas of the Council Action Plan in January which consist of: fiscal responsibility, accountability and engagement, client-focused service delivery, open for business, and progressive resort community planning.
The overall goal for the Budget 2012 will be to find ways to maintain Whistler as a successful resort community without increasing taxes or fees. Charting our financial future starts now. Learn about the 2012 RMOW financial planning process. Understand the 2012 budget decisions. Share ideas on how the RMOW should keep taxpayers informed throughout the budget process and beyond.

Vancouver WALK: WEST GEORGIA STREET (NIGHT) Heading East from Burrard to Georgia Viaduct - 4K
West Georgia Street in Downtown Vancouver, serves as one of the primary streets for the financial and central business districts, and is the major transportation corridor connecting downtown Vancouver with the North Shore (and eventually Whistler) by way of the Lions Gate Bridge.
Starting from the edge of Stanley Park, Georgia Street runs southeast, separating the West End from the Coal Harbour neighbourhood. It then runs through the Financial District; landmarks and major skyscrapers along the way include Living Shangri-La (the city's tallest building), Trump International Hotel and Tower, Royal Centre, 666 Burrard tower, Hotel Vancouver and upscale shops, the HSBC Canada Building, the Vancouver Art Gallery, Georgia Hotel, Four Seasons Hotel, Pacific Centre, the Granville Entertainment District, Scotia Tower, and the old Canada Post headquarters. (from Wikipedia)
This video covers the stretch of Georgia Street West from Burrard Street heading southeast towards BC Place Stadium and and ending halfway onto the Georgia Viaduct

Befriending Anxiety, Depression and Shame with Ron Pagé
Practicing Good Mental Hygine
What I am learning and doing about overcoming Shame, Anxiety and Depression
With Ron Pagé
The world of therapy would categorize these experiences as evidences of psychopathology. Dictionaries define psychopathology as the science or study of mental disorders. The etymology of the word provides a more hopeful perspective, however. The word psychopathology is made up of three words: Psyche—soul, pathos—suffering, and logos—word. The words of the suffering soul.
Attempts to run from or eliminate shame, anxiety and depression only intensify their stronghold on us and wreak havoc on our lives. This session is an introduction to the art of tuning into the words of a suffering soul in order to discover how these experiences can become precious friends wooing us into a deeper life-changing intimacy with Christ.
ABOUT RON
A 30-year veteran with the Navigators and licensed marriage and family therapist, Ron's passion for accompanying people through a wide variety of issues and challenges comes from experiencing first-hand the fruit of dealing with the struggles in his own life, marriage and ministry. He holds a Master's degree in Biblical counselling completed under Drs Larry Crabb and Dan Allender and has completed post-graduate training in marriage and family therapy.
