What a nail biting end to a fantastic AFL season!
With the Melbourne weather gods holding up their end of the bargain on Saturday, Riverland Bar was the place to be before, during & after the game.
Celebrating the biggest day on the Aussie sporting calendar, we saw record crowd numbers through the venue on Saturday, with Eagles, Pies & neutrals all getting amongst that Grand Final Day atmosphere.
In one of the all time great season deciders, the West Coast Eagles came out on top and are taking the premiership cup back across the Nullarbor. What a fitting end to an awesome AFL season!
It’s been so much fun having everyone join us throughout the year and we can’t wait to do it all again in 2019!

a day of bar hopping in melbourne | hidden bars, breweries and rooftop bars
We spent a day bar hopping around some of the best bars in Melbourne.
The first bar we went to was Peaches. It is located in the city centre, and has a rooftop overlooking Swanston Street and a lounge area, with beautiful and quirky furniture.
The second bar we went to was Naked for Satan, a Fitzroy classic rooftop bar. It over looks Fitzroy and Collingwood, and is a favourite for all North Melbourne-siders.
The third bar we went to was Beer Mash. In the hipster capital of Collingwood, it has all the trendy beers you could want.
The fourth bar was a secret bar called Above Board. It is at the back of Beer Mash by the bathrooms, and you take the stairs to the first floor. It is an intimate bar, with only a few bar stools available. The cocktails are excellent and unique. This bar is not to be missed.
The fifth and final bar was Stomping Ground. A Collingwood classic, this brewery is vibrant and full of some of the best beers Australia has to offer.
We ended the night at Goon, a Korean restaurant in Collingwood, eating bulgogi, spicy pork and korean seafood pancake.

Demon's Historic Ground Wiped Out by West Coast Eagles
Large portions of historic Lathlain Park are wiped out by the first stage of earthworks at the new development site of the West Coast Eagles.
The site has been home to the Perth Demons since 1959 where the historic 117 year old club could train and play on its first official home ground.
The Lathlain Park site is dominated an iconic post war international style Premier WAFL facility. Built by Forbes and Fitzhardinge, the E.W Jones and P. J Fogarty stand was one of three premiere WAFL stadiums built in the booming post war period. The others are located at Leederville Oval and Perth Oval - listed on Municipal and State Heritage listings respectively.
The stand looked over a framework of thoughtfully planted trees that earned the Park the coveted title of being the best ground, or at the very least, one of the best looking WAFL grounds, in Perth.
The trees were planted to shade the spectators because believe it or not Perth's sun was hot back then too and the ground used to be packed. Long term locals would remember all the street parking.
In its peak, Lathlain Park attracted up to 20,000 spectators. Hundreds and thousands of people experienced this beautiful public open space at some time in their lives. Perhaps it was their whole life. This place means a lot to a lot of people.
