One of the jokes was said after England had gone out of the European Championships, so do bear that in mind. Otherwise, very warm crowd and special thanks to Chris Head.

Broadstairs Yachts
SEA SIDE
Broadstairs Sailing Club was first conceived in September 1935 when Harry Arthur Dipple met and discussed the question of a town sailing club with Archibald Robert Boult.
Further meetings were held on 5th January 1936, and 30th May 1936, and the Officers of the club were appointed. Some racing took place in the summer of 1936 but it was not until 1937 that racing really got underway and a programme organised.
The original annual membership of the club was one Guinea, or by arrangement not less than 1/- (5 pence), and life membership was five Guineas. Harbour dues in 1935 were 7/6 per annum (37½ pence). membership has been mainly local residents and an important leisure pursuit in the town.
First Boats
By the time of the first races in 1937, Mr Dipple had arranged the purchase of five one-class boats which were built by Cooper's of Conyer. They were 14′ open boats of Bermudan rig and had a very good performance; they also had about eight handicap boats, ranging from a 27′ Naval Whaler, 'Wanderer', ketch rigged and owned by Jim Cole, Terry Wooster and George Bailey, to a number of open 10′ and 12′ dinghies, mostly gunter and gaff rigged. 'Freelance' was owned by Geoff Miskin, and later by Jim Cole. 'Alert' was owned by Jack Croom.
Clubhouses
When the club was first formed it didn't have a clubhouse and used to meet in the Droit office adjoining the café opposite the Tartar Frigate. After the war the Committee met in the backroom of the Crown Inn, which was run at the time by the father of Club member Norman Smith. The first Clubhouse was a large wooden hut in the garden of the Esplanade Hotel (now the site of Copperfield Court). This was acquired and a bar started in 1948.
In 1951 a loft above a garage in Alexandra Road became available and with a lot of hard work put in by Club members it became quite an attractive Clubhouse and bar. A particular memory of interest was the rather old sofa, and it soon became accepted that if a male and a female member were often found to be occupying it, then a collection for a wedding present would eventually be made!
Throughout the years, the club has had a good number of matrimonial successes!
the present clubhouse, in Harbour Street was acquired in 1957, first rented from Broadstairs Council and eventually purchased for £16,000. A great deal of work has been put in [and continues to be put in... see refit] by members to achieve the pleasant and functional state that is enjoyed today. In 1927 the property was known as the Chinese Lantern Café and a murder was committed there, a newspaper clipping telling reporting it is framed in the bar. As a result the building is said to be haunted.
17 April 2016 Southend to Margate
A lovely sunny Sunday morning flight out from Southend in a Cessna 152. Departing runway 23 and turning left to head over the Thames to the Isle of Sheppey. From there across to Whistable and then around the Kent coast taking in Margate, Broadstairs and Ramsgate before looping back over the final approach path to Manston Airport (now disused) and cruising back to Southend for a left base join for Runway 23. A lovely lazy flight in the Sunday morning sunshine.

[4K] MARGATE KENT, UK WALK (2019) - Dreamland to Turner Gallery
A walk through the British coastal town of Margate, home town to artists JMW Turner & Tracey Emin. Recently its gained a reputation as an artistic and hip place to move to - earning the nickname Shoreditch on sea. But there's so much more here than great coffee shops.
We start near Dreamland - the renovated, retro theme park and concert venue, and pass beaches and old town markets to the Turner Contemporary Gallery and the curve of Margate's pier and harbour.

St. George Real Estate Agent: How will Presidential Election affect St. George Real Estate Market?
Two things we know for sure when a new president is elected: 1. A lot of people are going to be unhappy, and; 2. The sun will keep rising over the gorgeous St. George Valley. When it comes to real estate, though, you need not panic over the results of the election. In reality, there are only two things to be concerned about in real estate after the election, and they don't have much to do with who the winner is. Check out the short video we shot for St. George news on this topic here.

Transcription:
When the U.S. election comes down to people “writing in” their favorite cartoon character, there’s naturally going to cause for concern in the U.S. economy! We’ve of course been getting questions at The Larkin Group about the direction of the St. George real estate market after this absurd election cycle.
While most folks are primarily concerned with how the elected President will affect the real estate market, we’re most concerned with:
1. What direction will interest rates go? (Making it more or less difficult to buy and sell St. George real estate), and…
2. Will consumer confidence fall (also making it more or less difficult to buy and sell real St. George real estate)?
Regardless of election results, a lot of people are going to be unhappy. But even since November 9th the sun has risen every single day on the St. George valley and it continues to be one of the finest places in the country to live, work, retire, and raise a family.
Even as recent news articles ranked St. George as having the 2nd LOWEST wages in the nation, other news is emerging saying that per capita, St. George was ranked the 2nd HIGHEST American city for adding jobs. Kinda’ bizarre, no?
People still want to live in “Utah’s Dixie” and they always will. Which means folks will
continue relocating to St. George That will continue to drive this market long term. Don't pay attention to presidential cycles, pay attention to real estate cycles and you'll make better real estate decisions.
If you have any questions about our market, especially about your home’s value as we enter 2017, don't hesitate to give us a call!

Public anxiety about war from the air had featured in film for some years prior to it becoming all too real in 1915. On the night of 16th May a German Zeppelin LZ38 dropped 20 or so bombs on Ramsgate in Kent, the most raided town in England during WWI. Pathé Gazette recorded the aftermath: the bombed out Bull & George hotel, policemen searching the rubble, and the clock stopped by the blast.
