The Cross-Country Cowboy Rides For the Sta
A man nicknamed the Cross-Country Cowboy is traveling across the U.S. on horseback.
Today, he made his way through Chattanooga.
Todd Doc Mishler is on a mission to shed light on the starving children in the world.
Doc says that My message is that we have the money to do it, unfortunately we don't have the will. The way is not lacking. The way to feed every starving child in the world is there but the will is lacking.
He began his travels in Montana and is traveling to Washington D.C.
Doc rides two horses named Chief Free Spirit and Charity about 20 miles a day.
He is riding on horseback so that he can spread the word to feed hungry children and spread the gospel.
Doc has a PHD in Philosophy and spent most of his life teaching.
This is not his first trip across the United States, he completed another cross county trek in 2002 where he traveled from Choteau, MT to Washington. On that trip he took his message to Congress.
After his first ride, he broke his pelvis and doctors told him he wouldn't ride again. He has defeated the odds.
He says he makes the journey because of the people he meets along the way. He says when he travels, he gets escorts from local police and state departments.
Doc had planned to sleeps in tents along the way but in every city, a family has offered their home.
He's traveling north on highway 41.
When his trip is over, Mishler will have nearly two-thousand miles under his belt.
Bellringing at Chipping
