Duke of Glouster Cup 2017
Australian Army infantry soldiers from across Australia tested their core skills for the prestigious Duke of Gloucester Cup at the School of Infantry, near Singleton in NSW, from 6-11 August 2017.
The Duke of Gloucester Cup is the Army’s premier military skills competition, pitting the best Royal Australian Corps of Infantry rifle sections from each unit against one another through a series of challenging activities that test their core infantry skills, including marksmanship, tactics, teamwork and fitness.
Along with the Duke of Gloucester Cup, five other trophies are awarded: Sir Arthur MacDonald Trophy for best foundation war-fighting skills; Gurkha Trophy for best live-fire shooting; Royal Ulster Rifles Trophy for best falling plate shooting; OSCMAR Trophy for best battle endurance; and the DSM Roche CSC Memorial Cup for best individual soldier.
The Duke of Gloucester Cup was created by Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester, in 1946, while serving as the Governor-General of Australia.

Bob Teoh's fall in Gloucester, NSW, Australia on 1 September 2019
On Sunday, 1 September 2019, my friend Bob Teoh, aged 71, was taking photos in Bucketts Scenic Walk, a hill in Gloucester, NSW, Australia. He felt giddy and sat down but he blacked out and was injured. A trekker found him unconscious and called the emergency services. The ambulance paramedics decided not to carry him down the steep hill. So they called the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service. The medical team winched down the helicopter to Bob where they stabilised him in order to winch him up to the helicopter. Bob was then transported to the John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle. This dramatic rescue was reported on the local radio and Gloucester Advocate, the local paper.
On Wednesday morning, 4 September 2019, I received a message from his wife Kim to pray for Bob following a 4.5 hour operation the previous evening. They had taken some bone from his hip to replace a crushed disc between vertebrae 5 and 6. There are other spots of spinal injury but they treated the most severe one as he could move his arms and legs but not close his fingers on both hands. He couldn’t grip nor feed himself or hold his hand phone. After the operation, the fingers closed a bit better but couldn’t touch each other. Believing in our Lord's Jesus' healing power, I called from Malaysia to Australia via WhatsApp and we commanded healing in Jesus' Name for the fingers and the nerves. After a few commands, his thumb and index finger on both hands could meet. The other fingers also improved slightly. Praise God! Hallelujah! Later I called again to command healing for the legs which were quite stiff and the strength in his legs improved. Praise God! Hallelujah!
Puji Tuhan! Haleluya!
Gloucester Tree - Pemberton - Western Australia
The Gloucester Tree is a giant karri tree in the Gloucester National Park of Western Australia.
At 53 metres in height, it is the world's second tallest fire-lookout tree[1] (second only to the nearby Dave Evans Bicentennial Tree), and visitors can climb up to a platform in its upper branches for a spectacular view of the surrounding karri forest. It is owned by the Shire of Manjimup.
Built in 1947, the Gloucester Tree was one of eight karri trees that between 1937 and 1952 were made relatively easy to climb so that they could be used as fire lookout spots.[2] The suitability of the tree as a fire lookout was tested by forester Jack Watson, who climbed the tree using climbing boots and a belt.[2] It took Watson six hours to climb 58 metres, a difficult climb due to the 7.3 metre girth of the tree and the need to negotiate through limbs from 39.6 metres up.[2]
Another forester, George Reynolds, pegged the ladder and lopped branches to facilitate climbing the tree, and a wooden lookout cabin was built 58 metres above the ground.[2] The Governor-General of Australia, Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester, visited the site during construction, and the tree and national park are named in his honour.[2][3]
The wooden lookout cabin was demolished in 1973 for safety reasons, and was replaced with a steel and aluminium cabin and visitors' gallery.[2] Currently the climb is done by stepping on 153 spikes that spiral the tree.
Only 20 percent of visitors climb to the top of the tree; most make it only part of the way before turning back.

Information for Bretti Reserve, Near Gloucester, Hunter Valley, NSW including video tours, photos, weather forecasts, facilities, and much more on campsight.com.au
Bretti Reserve, Gloucester, is a large open area beside the upper reaches of the Bernard/Manning river. Great spot for the kids to play in the shallow river rock pools or for a spot of fishing or canoeing. Plenty of space to spread out but shade is limited to the bank of the river. Though there are few facilities, the best thing about this area is it is FREE, pet friendly, the way camping should be, and only a short drive from Gloucester.
