Llandudno, the Great Orme, tramway, Victorian Pier and Marine Drive
A day visit, which started out in dense fog, to a very popular seaside resort in North Wales - Llandudno. A typical Victorian extravaganza with shopping streets, wide promenades and wonderful scenery. The Great Orme is a rocky headland which shelters the town from the worst of the westerly weather. The Orme attracted the Victorians so much that a Funicular tramway system was built to ferry them up the steepest part of the Orme. The magnificent pier is the longest in Wales at 2,292 feet long and is packed with visitors during the summer season. The marine drive runs from the east side of the Orme to the west side and takes in some beautiful coastal scenery and many wildlife species can be seen on a walk around it. Leading to the summit complex the road passes the 12th century St Tudno's church which has some very fine stained glass windows and the cemetery has some really splendid headstones and sculptures.

Randolph Turpin - Footage from his Bar in Wales & Memories from Sugar Ray Victory
Randolph Turpin was one of the greatest British boxers, the fact he defeated the very best of all time in Sugar Ray Robinson in London in 1951, cements his place among the elite boxers from the UK.
Above is some video footage, shot a couple of years ago and which was left lying on an old hard drive. I thought it too good to just lay there unwatched, especially for the Randolph Turpin fans who may never have visited the Great Orme Summit complex and the bar he owned in Llandudno, North Wales in the 50's, so I edited it together. I hope you enjoy the video, it's pretty long, includes footage from inside Randy's bar and the photos and memorabilia adorning the walls, all which tell a story. The videos is accompanied by the sound of Randy's fight famous fight against Robinson, including fight snippets of the fight footage. We claim no rights to the fight footage used in this video.

GREAT ORME, Llandudno- North wales
Llandudno lies on a peninsula between two notable carboniferous headlands, the Great Orme and the Little Orme (both within the Conwy County Borough), with the Irish Sea on one side and the estuary of the River Conwy on the other. It is these headlands and the two waterfronts, the North Shore and the West Shore, together with the fine bay that give the tourist resort of Llandudno its special appeal.

Its a great place to spend the day. There are few ways to go to the summit. You can walk, take a tram, cable car, or you can drive your own car for a 3 pound congestion charge. We drove, bear in mind the road is little narrow. Top of the summit you pay a parking charge if you are staying to take photographs or to have a coffee. There is a nice restaurant up in the top. You will expect very windy on the top of the summit but absolutely stunning to see the surrounding view. A lovely treat for photographers.
Down in the bay, there is sailing club and speed boats you can try. We tried one of the speed boat which are very good fun and will boost your adrenaline secretions up. I got wet sitting on the side of the boat which I am not going to regret however.
