Visiting Abel Tasman, walking the Wainui falls track
This is one of the shorter walks in Abel Tasman. You can drive right to the car park and walk from there. We enjoyed our time, and spent roughly two hours there.

Kauri Loop Track, Hakarimata Range
My sister and I went for another hike in the Hakarimata Scenic Reserve. This time went went around the Kauri Loop track, which includes the Kauri Grove. It was cool and humid, a sometimes wet and sometimes sunny day in May (late autumn in the southern hemisphere), perfect conditions for hiking (although I do prefer it to be colder, and also less cloudy so we get a better view). Came across a little bit of fungus (but not much), and also a little yappy dog (right at the end of the video).

Mt Cook National Park and Mt John near Tekapo
We drove from Lake Tekapo to Mt Cook National Park, quick lunch and look around at the Edmund Hillary Apline Centre then back again. Mt John Observatory was on the way home near Tekapo and not only was it freezing, but there was a BRIDAL PARTY having wedding photos taken on the mountain, in the snow. You'll briefly see the bride in a sleeveless dress...
???????? Waiau Falls and Kauri Grove Lookout - Coromandel, New Zealand ????????
NZ Parks and Recreation Link:
Beautiful waterfall and peaceful swimming pool at Waiau Falls - Coromandel, New Zealand in 2013. We drove around Coromandel and stopped for an unexpected trip at this waterfall. It was an amazing experience to travel and relax near the waterfall. My husband climbed the rocks to get a closer look. It's possible to go swimming in the natural pool of water, and it's just a quick walk to the waterfalls from the car. It's a beautiful and natural spot in New Zealand. Highly recommended for any adventure travel you might take in New Zealand. (Recorded in 2013)
A walk in the Rawhiti Cave!
The Simple Life - Being one with nature.
The Rawhiti cave, is a massive cave located in Takaka, New Zealand. For the indigenous Māori of New Zealand this cave used to be a sacred place for rituals, ceremonies and celebrations.
The ancient indigenous cultures always praised Mother Earth and worshipped the life giving force.
They saw her as a living entity, that should be cared for.
Being one with nature is a huge part of The Simplicity Movement and taking a walk in the peaceful surroundings of nature, helps us relax and find inner peace.
Being one with ourselves.
It is therefore taking care of ourselves and an act of self-love.
We must preserve these sacred places in nature.

-- About this video --
This morning we drive from Takaka in Golden Bay to the nearby Labyrinth Rocks. These are some limestone outcrops of rock that have created a natural maze in the forest. It’s a free activity to do in Takaka so let’s do it!
After getting stuck in the Labyrinth Rocks and getting lost in its mazes for far too long, we work up an appetite to go catch our own lunch at Anatoki Salmon. Anatoki Salmon in Takaka, Golden Bay is a freshwater salmon farm where you can go fishing for your own salmon. Then the salmon gets prepared and cooked for you fresh in your own style for lunch. It’s the freshest salmon we’ve ever tasted.
What do you think of Labyrinth Rocks in Takaka or how about Anatoki Salmon in Golden Bay? Are these activities you would do when travelling the South Island of New Zealand?

Inside Rawhiti Cave in New Zealand
Inside Rawhiti Cave, located in the Takaka area in the Nelson/Tasman region of New Zealand. The cave features amazing examples of phytokarst, a phenomenon in which mosses and algae and calcium work together to grow stalactites and stalagmites. The plants grow faster on the sunlit side, causing the stalactites to grow toward the light.
