Horseback Riding in Siem Reap with the Happy Ranch!
Most people come to Siem Reap to for the ruins of Angkor Wat, but Siem Reap has more to offer. For those who like to leave the town behind and see the country, Happy Ranch is the place to be!
I booked a 3 hours trail ride through the country side to see small villages and get away from the town. As I traveled during low season I was the only one on the tour so I pretty much had a private tour! It was great to see beautiful rice paddies, to hear about local life, to listen to the impressive personal stories from my guide Kim and to gallop with the wind through my hair.

The Happy Ranch Horse Farm, Siem Reap, Angkor Cambodia
Awesome riding in the beautiful Cambodian
The Happy Ranch Horse Farm was built and established in Siem Reap Angkor in 2002. Siem Reap is the world famous city of the unique Angkor temples. The ranch is located 2km from the center of Siem Reap and is the only western style horse ranch in Cambodia. Most of our horses and ponies are crossbred with Arabian horses; many are born and bred here at our stables. Our aim is to produce larger varieties so that we can cater for all riders.
Set on 10 hectares of beautiful Khmer countryside, around a miniature lake, the ranch accomodates 46 horse sand ponies , stallions, mares and foals. The facilities include a round pen, a 20 x 40m dressage arena, a horse preparation area, and 40 large clean stalls in the stables. We are fully equipped with European standard English and Western style saddles, imported from the USA and Europe. We also provide safety helmets to all riders.

I went horse riding today for four hours in the countryside, through villages and rice fields, past dogs, buffalo, cows, ducks, pagodas and temples. My guide was amazing and I had a really good time. Would recommend the Happy Ranch Horse Farm to everyone who wants to see the stunning Cambodian countryside by horseback:

Mum is 70 years old and she gets up a horse, well not so effortlessly. I think she had fun riding it. No mishap, thank goodness.

The ancient temples of Angkor and the rural beauty of Siem Reap province can be enjoyed on horseback thanks to an equestrian centre offering rides on local and Arabian horses breeds.
Located some 2km from the heart of Siem Reap town, The Happy Ranch Horse Farm was founded nearly two decades ago by horse enthusiast Cambodian-American Pann Sary.

Horseback Riding in Siem Reap Cambodia
Horseback riding at Happy Ranch, Siem Reap Cambodia
After days of exploring the majestic temples of Siem Reap, I decided to try horseback riding for a change. Without any experience riding a horse and just pure guts, I manage to pull it off and even get to try galloping despite the fact of almost losing my camera ;p
