Haribo (/ˈhærɨboʊ/ harr-i-boh) is a German confectionery company, founded in 1920 by Johannes (Hans) Riegel, Sr. Haribo is headquartered in Bonn and the name is an abbreviation of Hans Riegel, Bonn.
Haribo made the first gummy candy in 1922 when Hans Riegel, Sr. made the first Gummibärchen (little gummy bears). After Hans Riegel, Sr. died during World War II, his son, also named Hans Riegel, took over the company. Haribo expanded its operations, taking over many local confectionery manufacturers in countries all over the world.
Haribo is one of the biggest manufacturers of gummy and jelly sweets in the world, with its products mainly consisting of gummy bears, other jelly sweets and liquorice. The company has five factories in Germany and 13 throughout the rest of Europe, and sales offices in almost every country in Europe, as well as in the United States and Australia.
The Landesmuseum Koblenz created a traveling exhibition about the history of Haribo in 2006. Haribo's key brands in the UK are Starmix, Tangfastics, Supermix, and Maoam, with Maoam being its own line of chewy sweets.[1] They were once the distributor of Pez products in the United Kingdom, but this is no longer the case. Haribo makes Pontefract Cakes at their factory in Pontefract, West Yorkshire, and other locations. The Fraise Tagada is one of the best-selling varieties in France. Another Haribo product is Happy Cola.

Prince Harry Got His Own Personalised Bag Of ‘Harry Mix’ Haribo And We’re Super Jealous
Prince Harry Got His Own Personalised Bag Of ‘Harry Mix’ Haribo And We’re Super Jealous
He’s always been known for his fun-loving side, but now Prince Harry can beam even more cheekily after it came to light that he has had his own line of Haribo sweets made for him. The Prince was visiting the north of England and made a stop off at the Haribo gummy factory in Pontefract, Yorkshire and to his surprise he received his own personalised bag of Haribo sweets, titled Harry mix. Are you jealous yet? From a tweet from Wakefield Express below, you can see just how much his eyes lit up upon spying his personalised candy. The royal looked completely engaged with the members of staff, no doubt getting some inside scoop on his favourite sweets.
Later on that day, Harry also visited a sick children’s home and advocated for changes to mental health services. In a highly emotional speech, he spoke about his own struggles with mental health following the death of his mother Diana, the Princess of Wales.
‘We need to better equip our young people with the tools they need to cope with this increasingly complex and fast-moving world we live in,’ he said.
‘I read recently that young people check their phones at least 150 times per day — I’m sure we could all be more effective and efficient if we took a moment to process our thoughts rather than rushing from one thing to the next.’
Meanwhile, Prince Harry is apparently set to propose to his actress girlfriend Meghan Markle after falling ‘madly in love’ with her.
Friends of the royal have set the rumour mill in motion after revealing the plan.
With brother Prince William happily married to the Duchess of Cambridge, the younger bachelor is supposedly looking to marry.
Ms Markle was reportedly trying on wedding dresses yesterday, and is claimed to have said she ‘couldn’t walk down the aisle of Westminster Abbey in it.’
