Nothing Unexpected
So we got beat? We knew it was going to happen. The UKIP bubble is still ever growing with, soon to be disappointed, anti-immigration voters! When that bubble bursts, we will pick up those voters.
Plastic patriots - just another obstacle in the road of genuine nationalism!

West Papua: Saved by Seaweed
Have you drank milk today? Or brushed your teeth with toothpaste this morning? Do you know that milk and toothpaste are just two of the many products that contain carrageenan?
So, what is carrageenan? Carrageenan is a hydrocolloid, known with its varied functional properties such as emulsifier, thickener, purifier and gelling agent and used in the food industry. Carrageenan has been widely accepted by many countries as a safe food additives when used in the amount necessary.
Recently, Dr. James McKim Jr. from United States published a study which proves that no adverse effects of carrageenan in human cells. McKim’s research refutes claim from carrageenan critics like Joanne Tobacman, where the study showed that carrageenan has no measurable effects on cells and also provided strong evidence that carrageenan consumed in foods and beverages would not cause inflammation in humans.
So what is carrageenan made from? Like agar, carrageenan is produced from seaweed, where Indonesia is the biggest producers of seaweed in the world with a market share of 61%.
The Government of Indonesia has set seaweed farming as an alternative to improve its communities’ financial securities in the remote coastal areas of Indonesia that will reduce unemployment and over exploited fisheries. Around 530,000 small-scale farmers mostly in the province of South and Central Sulawesi also in the West and East Nusa Tenggara provinces made their living through seaweed farming.
Seaweed cultivation is done by Indonesian farmers with no fertilizer therefore it does not harm the ecosystem and even become sources of food for human and water herbivores.
In the video shown, made by the United Nations, you can see how these seaweed farming are done environmentally friendly and how these works helped improving Indonesia small-scale farmers’ economic conditions.

Harvesting with Vintage Fahr Combine.
Yes, really vintage because it is 42 years old. Working well when I first saw it, but sadly failed with a broken knife just before it reached the camera! Crop is an interesting one - Barley and Oats undersown with grass and Chicory.
