Hinoki Village is located near the Peimen Station of Chiayi City, preserving 28 Japanese-style dormitories which were built by Forest management office, Bureau Of Productive Industries, Taiwan Governor-general's Office in the Japanese era of Taiwan.
During the Japanese occupation era, the Taiwan Governor-general's Office deforested Alishan Forest Resources. It is transported down the mountain via the Alishan Railway and sent to Peimen Station of Chiayi.
The Peimen Station was the starting point of the Alishan Forest Railway, and forestry settlements were formed nearby, including the storage pool, the train maintenance workshop, the office of Forest management, and the dormitory area.
At that time, the staff dormitories built by the Forest management office were using the Hinoki which were deforested from Alishan. the domitories were made from Hinoki, so thedomitories area was called Hinoki Zhuyin (Hinoki Villiage) . There are 28 Japanese-style dormitories preserved in Hinoki Village by now.
In 2004, Hinoki Village was established to preserve the historical memory of forestry. The Village covers an area of 3.4 hectares and is a popular tourist attraction in Chiayi City.

Wandering around Chia-Le-Fu Night Market, Chiayi, Taiwan (4K)
Exploring the other night market in Chiayi. This one had lots of games to play and clothes for sale. I bought some camo shorts there for $350TWD each, normally they cost $1900TWD! Not sure if they were completely authentic as the stich work was pretty bad.
F-VLOG #8: ONE DAY TRIP TO CHIAYI
On the last spring break, I visited Chiayi and explored the city to its fullest extent. Six places were toured under the time limit of fourteen hours. Here is the list:
1. Southern Branch National Palace Museum (國立故宮博物院南部院區)
2. Budai Fish Market (布袋漁港觀光魚市)
3. Blue High Heels Church (高跟鞋教堂)
4. Minxiong Haunted House (民雄鬼屋)
5. National Chung Cheng University (國立中正大學)
6. Carrefour Night Market (嘉樂福觀光夜市)
Initially I intended to visit a few sites only (#1, #3, #4), but my travel buddy managed to tighten up the time and added three extra places on the list. When you happen to visit Taiwan or just want to have a swift escape from the overwhelming life, I would highly recommend Chiayi as an alternative to travel. It is simply one of the most underrated cities of the island.

Son of Man Communal Village, Sanyi District, Miaoli County, Taiwan
The Coolidge family spent a wonderful 3 days/2 nights at the Son of Man Communal Village in Sanyi District of Miaoli County, Taiwan. This is not a normal village or farm. This is a center for communal living, where different families live together and raise their children by home schooling them and giving them a life full of purpose, experiences, and activities. During our time with this friendly community, we enjoyed generous hospitality, kindness and positive energy. Our kids were taught many skills and given various tasks around the farm. They have many opportunities to learn and play, and made new friends quickly. Every night, everyone spent time talking, expressing themselves, and enjoying meaningful conversations.
I met someone from Hong Kong, who said he was visiting for the first time. He said he was there to find his purpose in life.
My kids were very happy, and my youngest didn't want to leave. They all want to come back. My dog lived freely there, without a leash, and was given constant love and attention.
It was one of the most memorable weekends we have had as a family, and we recommend this experience to anyone who wants a new, alternative, wholesome experience, or a lifestyle that can inspire one to find their purpose in life.

Taiwan - Taitung County - Luye Gaotai Paragliding
The Luye Gaotai area is a highland area located to the north of Longtian, in Yongan Village, Luye Township. It has an elevation of around 350 meters. The unique geographical conditions of this area make it a superior place for eastern Taiwan paragliding activities. The most ideal time to go paragliding in the Gaotai area is from April or May until October, when a southern wind occurs.
