RENEGADE; Stay In Your Homes demo + history
RENEGADE: Stay In Your Homes. Demo recording, 1986
REVENGE 0:00
FICTIONAL KICKS 2:51
TODAY 7:31
THIN DISGUISE 10:18
Recorded At Hallmark Studios, London: 26th April 1986
Renegade formed in Harrow, Middlesex. UK, late 1985
Harrow, just a few miles outside of London, was still a hive of Punk Rock activity in the 1980's: Chaos, 16 Guns, Curfew, Dead Loss, Burning Rhythm, Martyr, Ritual and Malice were all bands from, or associated with, the area and Renegade joined the ranks
The original Line up was: Paul Watson -- Vocals, Nick Moon -- Guitar, Andy Higgins -- Bass, John Hester - Drums
Rehearsals and song writing took place at Ram Rehearsal Studios in Hayes and with Nick and Andy exchanging song ideas, by post, on cassette tapes, during the winter 1985 and early 1986
The band's debut gig takes place at The Roxborough in Harrow on February 21st 1986. Support comes from Curfew
On March 16th, Paul and Nick go to see The Business and Vicious Rumours at London's Fulham Greyhound and get talking to Mark Brennan who was, at the time, starting Link Records
April 26th: the band go into Hallmark Studios, just off of London's Carnaby Street and record the four songs that become the Stay In Your Homes demo. At this time lead Guitarist Mick Lewis has just joined the band and, although not fully familiar with the set, plays solos on the first two songs
The tapes are sent to Mark Brennan who offers the band a slot on the forthcoming 'Oi! The Resurrection' LP
Further gigs take place:
18th May, Fulham Greyhound as support to The Business and Vicious Rumours
13th June, the Roxborough, Harrow, headlined by Vicious Rumours
22nd June, Fulham Greyhound as support to Vicious Rumours and Condemned 84
The June 22nd gig was originally billed with The Feckin' Ejits but Condemned 84 played in their place
A planned gig at The Old Tiger's Head, in London's Lea Green, with Vicious Rumours, on 18th June didn't take place when one of the band failed to turn up due to an 'incident'!
Negotiations for an album deal with Oi Records, London supports with Bad Manners and tour supports with Peter and the Test Tube Babies are lined up, international fan mail keeps coming in; it all looked rosy in the Renegade garden. Sadly though the band folds late in 1986
Revenge appeared on Oi! The Resurrection (Link Records LP1)
Fictional Kicks appeared on The Sound of Oi! (Link Records LP 011)
Nick currently plays guitar with The Detuners and Forty Fiver
Paul is singing with Brass Knuckles
Andy plays bass and tours with The Circus of Horrors

Jubilee Line Trains on September 9th 2018 Part 2
Part 2 filmed on Jubilee Line at Wembley Park, Kingsbury, Queensbury, Canons Park and Stanmore
Part 1 Finchley Road - Neasden
Wembley Park opened temporary for Saturday football games on October 14th 1893 although it was fully open on May 12th 1894. For over 14 years between Harrow on the Hill and Willesden Green there was only one intermediate stop at Kingsbury & Neasden now today’s Neasden station nowadays there are 5 stops. When the Bakerloo Line ran over the Stanmore Branch from newly constructed deep level tube tunnels from Baker Street from 1939 to 1979 over half the trains turned back here via a centre reversing siding. Although today most Jubilee Line trains continue all the way to Stanmore some can turn back at Willesden Green and Wembley Park however during entering or reversing from the siding ATO does not apply.
The station has 6 platforms and is located close to nearby Wembley Stadium which all services both Jubilee and Metropolitan call here. Although Metropolitan Line Trains are formed of S8 Stock replacing the A60/A62 stock in September 2012 however most trains nowadays even from Amersham or Chesham alongside Uxbridge and Watford services stop here with the occasional non stop services being nowadays peak hours only.
The station has been rebuilt several times over the years first in 1948 for the Olympic Games, 1996 for Euro 96 and then recently at the time when the nearby Wembley Stadium was being completely rebuilt with remodelling at the station and step free access being completed between 2004 and 2007 in time for the stadiums reopening.
After Wembley Park the Jubilee Line diverges by a burrowing junction underneath the southbound Metropolitan fast and slow lines which date from the Stanmore Branch opening on December 10th 1932 although on July 1st 1933 all underground lines as well as buses, trams, trolleybuses came under the London Passenger Transport Board with the ownership of the Branch changing twice first on November 20th 1939 to the Bakerloo Line and again to todays Jubilee line on May 1st 1979.
Kingsbury is the first station on the Stanmore Branch actually was used in 1880 on the site of todays Neasden in 1880 when the Metropolitan was extended from Willesden Green to Harrow on the Hill however that was renamed to Neasden at the same time when Kingsbury opened in 1932. It’s the only station on the branch that provides step free access from the ticket hall. The C W Clarke station building here is similar design to other (MR) Buildings of the same period.
Queensbury was a later addition opened on December 16th 1934, 2 years after the rest of the branch. Although the naming of the station was thought by analogy with Kingsbury being the next station south, Queensbury was a obvious option. The original wooden platforms were replaced in 1979. Since 2013 between here and Canons Park are situated close to ‘The Hive Stadium’ home to Barnet FC with it located on the eastbound side of the Jubilee Line Tracks between Queensbury and the next station in the Westbound direction of that being Canons Park
Canons Park opened by the Metropolitan Railway in 1932 as Canons Park (Edgware), the suffix was dropped a year after opening as new housing gradually developed. Edgware Station on the Northern Line is situated approximately 1 mile away opened on August 18th 1924 and at the time of the opening of the Stanmore Branch most passengers opted to travel from Edgware due to the high cost of rail fares with the Metropolitan charging on a mainline basis however that changed when the LPTB took over.
Surprisingly some Jubilee Line Trains can terminate here and run empty into the sidings at Stanmore although this mostly occurs at either start or end of the day or occasionally off peak when traffic is light however nowadays all continue to Stanmore.
Stanmore the terminus from day one since opening originally had a goods yard however was closed in 1936 which is occupied today by a car park. At the time of opening there was another station in Stanmore called Stanmore Village which was branch run by the London Midland and Scottish Railway from Harrow & Wealdstone however was closed by British Railways in 1952. The station layout for many years consist of an island platform however in 2005 construction of Platform 3 began and was largely completed in 2009 however due to overrun of re-signalling the Jubilee Line it wasn’t until June 27th 2011 when the line was fully converted to ATO was only then the 3rd platform was finally open to passenger use.
The ownership of the Stanmore Branch may have changed over the years from the Metropolitan Railway to the Bakerloo Line and then to the Jubilee Line the surviving legacy of the Metropolitan Railway is the suburban station building designed by Charles W Clarke located above street level which still survives to this day.
