Egyptians celebrate Halloween with expanded Horror House

Egyptians are celebrating Halloween at Cairo's Horror House.
Famous horror film characters have been added to the funhouse to coincide with the Halloween season.
STORY-LINE:
A carved pumpkin with a scary face. It must be Halloween.
This annual festival of occult delights is celebrated on 31 October throughout the world, and Egypt is no exception.
This particular attraction, the Horror House, was launched inside one of Cairo's most famous shopping malls ten months ago.
Now it really is coming to life - or death - with its most extravagant display yet, as eager visitors flock to see actors play characters from their favourite horror films.
I don't know what I will find inside. They said that there will be famous horror icons and characters from horror movies. So, God willing, we will see what happens to me, says visitor Shaimaa Hisham.
Initially the Horror House opened its doors for guests in a small, constructed haunted mansion. But ahead of Halloween 2016, the owner decided to make the celebration count by renting a 1,000 square metre (10,763 square feet) area inside the mall and introducing the most iconic Hollywood horror film characters.
The event is held from the 20 October until 3 November with a special 'Fright Night' on 31 October.
The ticket price has been doubled from 100 to 200 Egyptian Pounds (22.5 US Dollars) for this period.
An actor works as the gate keeper of the attraction, receiving the visitors and guiding them to the inside of the house.
Visitors are surprised at the beginning of the tour by zombies, and following that they encounter a host of monsters carrying chainsaws and two major horror film characters, Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees.
They then have to solve a mystery in another room inside a dirty toilet, simulating the Saw movie franchise with a recorded message from Billy the Puppet.
The attraction also introduces other famous horror icons like Michael Myers from the 'Halloween' films and the butcher from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
Visiter Donia Saeed was impressed by her two hour visit.
Now the attraction is much more exciting and the space is bigger. It also includes famous iconic horror film characters like Jigsaw (Saw Movies) and Samara (The Ring Movies). It's really a different experience and lasts about two hours inside the place. So, it's nice, and the fact it's taking place on Halloween is really cool, she says.
The gate keeper, Bahy Elsamman, intends to scare the visitors even before they step inside the house. But he believes that safety is paramount.
When the Horror House first opened back in December 2015, actors only acted out one storyline, about three possessed sisters in a haunted mansion. The place at that time held about ten actors and the visiting time was around ten to fifteen minutes.
But attraction owner Haitham Gamal decided to replace this basic storyline with horror icons for Halloween.
The success of the attraction has made Gamal think about introducing more monsters and characters by the end of November.
Characters like Ghostface from the Scream movies, Frankenstein, and a werewolf will be added to the attraction.

From the very beginning our aim was to get far from the popular funhouse designs in Egypt and Middle East parks where you have to take a stable cart ride into the house and wait to see traditional scares. Now for the first time we permit people to enter Dracula's castle on foot and to interact with the horrific atmosphere. And we advise our visitors to be very courageous before entering.

Horror fans can enjoy a real Halloween fright-fest at 'Dracula's Castle' in Egypt.
Visitors walk through darkened corridors haunted by grisly ghosts and gory vamps.
STORYLINE:
The grim reaper stands guard outside the vampire house - part of the newly refitted Geroland amusement park.
To reach Dracula's castle, you first have to take a water ride aboard a log flume splashing down to an island where the horror house is located.
The first thing I like to do is having the wet waterfall ride that takes me to the island where I visit Dracula's castle, says excited visitor Nadia Moustapha.
The band of horror fans are welcomed to Dracula's Castle by a cloaked servant - who leads them through the experience on foot, a new concept according to Vampire House Creator Ayman Fathy.
Fathy advises the visitors to be 'very courageous'.
Menna Desouky is one of the visitors having a big fright during the visit.
The vampire house is an Egyptian remake inspired by other horror houses in the West.

2018 Nile Nightmares Haunted House Egyptian Mummy Queen
For Halloween 2018, I helped build the Curse of the Nile attraction at the Nile Shriners' haunted house, Nile Nightmares in Mountlake Terrace, WA. In the final scare of the attraction, guests entered the mummy queen's tomb where she suddenly appeared overhead as if rising from the grave. This video played and ultimately served as the distraction as Anubis snuck up from behind and scared guests out the exit!
Unfortunately, inexperienced volunteer Anubis actors, a faulty triggering mechanism, an Anubis costume with challenging visibility and movement, and 5000 other excuses that I should've planned for led to this scare never really working properly. Instead of triggering it, we just put it on loop and called it good. Most guests didn't even notice the video since they just ran out the second they entered the room. So, since we're not going to be using her again, I figured I'd save her here on YouTube for your viewing horror...I mean, pleasure.
