Places to see in ( Bordeaux - France )
Places to see in ( Bordeaux - France )
Bordeaux, hub of the famed wine-growing region, is a port city on the Garonne River in southwestern France. It’s known for its Gothic Cathédrale Saint-André, 18th- to 19th-century mansions and notable art museums such as the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Bordeaux. Public gardens line the curving river quays. The grand Place de la Bourse, centered on the Three Graces fountain, overlooks the Miroir d’Eau reflecting pool.
The city of Bordeaux is among France's most exciting, vibrant and dynamic cities. In the last decade and a half, it's shed its languid, Belle au Bois Dormant (Sleeping Beauty) image thanks to the vision of city mayor Alain Juppé who has pedestrianised boulevards, restored neoclassical architecture, created a high-tech public transport system and reclaimed Bordeaux's former industrial wet docks at Bassin à Flots. Half the city (18 sq km) is Unesco-listed, making it the largest urban World Heritage site; while world-class architects have designed a bevy of striking new buildings – the Herzog & de Meuron stadium (2015), decanter-shaped La Cité du Vin (2016) and Jean-Jacques Bosc bridge (2018) across the Garonne River included.
Bordeaux is often referred to as Little Paris and the rivalry between the Bordelais (people from Bordeaux) and Parisiens is a hot subject, so you may experience some heated arguments on the subject during your stay. Bordeaux is a flat city, built on the banks of the Garonne River. It is also the largest French city by area and geographically one of the largest in Europe. The Garonne merges a dozen kilometers below the city with another river, the Dordogne River to form the Gironde Estuary, which is biggest estuary in France..
Bordeaux is a historic city with many tourist attractions. The main districts are briefly presented here, which are listed according to their distance from the railway station. Les Quais— Great for going for a nice walk on the shores of the Garonne, enjoying a ride on a ferry boat, viewing a stunning landscape over the bridges of Bordeaux, or dancing the night away in the city's many nightclubs. The Aquitaine Bridge is an architectural achievement unique in France. The Jacques-Chaban-Delmas lift bridge ; located between the Quais and the Aquitaine bridge. Opened in 2013, it features a liftable deck, which goes up to 53 meters (170 ft), to enable cruise ships and historical sailboats to dock close to the Quinconces Square.
La Victoire— Historical monuments meet student life and bars.
The Pedestrian Center — If you plan on shopping, or are looking for cultural activities, Bordeaux has a lot to offer - and it starts right here. Gambetta Square — The rich districts of Bordeaux start north - this part of the town is nicknamed Little Paris. Quinconces Square — Be sure to check out the fountain monument to the Girondins, a group of moderate, bourgeois National Assembly deputies during the French Revolution.
Meriadeck — The administrative center of Bordeaux, with one of the biggest libraries in France. Do not miss the Victory Arch (Roman architecture), at the center of La Victoire and a great example of the town's Roman roots. Relax and take a picnic in the lush Public Gardens, north of Gambetta square. The Girondins memorial on the Quinconces square is a fitting tribute to the Members of Parliament from Gironde who were guillotined by Robespierre.
Musee D'Art Contemporain at 7, rue Ferrère. Definitely worth a visit if you are interested in Modern Art. Musee D'Aquitaine, 20, cours Pasteur. Stunning museum that exhibits Gallo-Roman statues and relics dating back 25,000 years. Musee national des douanes (Customs National Museum), 1 place de la Bourse. 10AM - 6PM.Tue-Sun. a historical museum of the french customs administration.

4k virtual walk France : most expensive district of Bordeaux by osmo pocket
Hi. The district Triangle d'Or is the most expensive district of Bordeaux in real estate. You will see in this video, some lux store, the shopping mall Les Grands Hommes
Walking Root Google maps :
The golden triangle is located in the heart of Bordeaux. It is bounded by the Allées de Tourny, the Course of Stewardship and the Cours Georges Clémenceau. It thus forms a perfect triangle where one finds at each of its summits an important monument of Bordeaux: the place Tourny, the National Opera of Bordeaux and the place Gambetta. It also houses the Place des Grands-Hommes in its center.

Chateauneuf France - A Visit to Châteauneuf-en-Auxois in Bourgogne France | European Waterways
A Visit to Châteauneuf-en-Auxois in Bourgogne France. Visit to the Medieval Village, Craft Shops and Castle of Châteauneuf-en- Auxois.
During our classic Burgundy cruise aboard hotel barge L'Impressionniste we visit the medieval village, craft shops and castle of Châteauneuf-en-Auxois, once an outpost of the Dukes of Burgundy and offering a fine overview of the feeder lakes, canal and surrounding countryside.
Châteauneuf-en-Auxois is a tiny, charming, hilltop town, well worth the climb up the steep path. This romantic and fascinating village is like a miniature Carcassonne, with its turreted castle, its encircling walls, and its elegant houses once belonging to rich merchants. The château, built in the 12th and 15th centuries, affords a broad view over the rolling farmlands, with a view of the Canal de Bourgogne and the woodlands of the Morvan. At its zenith, the town had a population of 500.
The 12 Passenger Hotel Barge L'Impressionniste -- the Lower Burgundy Canal
Sister ship to La Belle Epoque, L'Impressionniste began life as a cargo barge in Holland before undergoing a complete transformation into the gorgeous hotel barge she is today. Her light and airy interior features picture windows and a selection of prints, fabrics and wall coverings reminiscent of the era after which she has been named, while each comfortable cabin is complemented by an en suite shower. The spacious saloon has also been upgraded with the addition of some comfortable leather sofas and individually designed fitted furniture. A week cruising aboard L'Impressionniste on the Burgundy Canal introduces you to a wonderful blend of Burgundian countryside, history and viticulture. For more information please see:

4. SOUNDBITE: (French) Bernard Accoyer, Vice-President of the Union Majority Party:
He (Alain Juppe) said he felt after all these (support messages) a feeling he had never experienced before. He said he found out that a lot of French people loved him and all of us, the deputies in the room, shared the emotion. Then he asked us for forgiveness and said he would announce his decision tonight, the decision concerning his future, the decisions that concern all of us, concerns our country. He then left the room accompanied by never-ending applause.

STORYLINE:
Amid pleas from French president, Jacques Chirac, for him to stay on, former prime minister Alain Juppe was expected to announce on Tuesday whether he is quitting politics after a court convicted him in a party financing scandal.
Chirac would lose a close ally and possible successor if Juppe bows out. The 58-year-old legislator, mayor of Bordeaux and president of Chirac's governing Union Majority Party (UMP), said he would announce his decision on Tuesday evening.
Meanwhile, France's lower house of parliament launched an inquiry on Tuesday into allegations that judges at the court which sentenced Juppe were threatened and pressured.
Chirac has ordered an independent panel to examine the allegations that judges were pressured, and the prosecutor's office in Nanterre, outside Paris where the court is located, opened an investigation.
In a decision that stunned France, the judges handed Juppe an 18-month suspended prison sentence on Friday for his role in an illegal party funding scheme while he served as finance director at Paris City Hall during Chirac's 18-year tenure as mayor of the French capital, from 1977-1995.
The conviction, if upheld on appeal, would automatically bar Juppe from holding office for 10 years - a crushing sentence for the man who was widely considered to be Chirac's pick to succeed him.
The verdict was an embarrassment to Chirac, whom investigating judges have tried unsuccessfully to question in the scandal. He is protected by presidential immunity - which he will lose if not re-elected in the next presidential race in 2007.
Juppe served as Chirac's prime minister from 1995-1997 and was considered one of France's brightest political stars.
Upon arriving at the Union Majority Party bureaux on Tuesday, Juppe received resounding applause from party members.
UMP president, Jacques Barrot, said the scene was probably this is one of the most intense moments of emotion I've experienced. Which proves that the shine of Alain Juppe is even deeper than we might think.

Places to see in ( Bordeaux - France ) Grand Theatre
Places to see in ( Bordeaux - France ) Grand Theatre
Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux, is a theatre in Bordeaux, France, first inaugurated on 17 April 1780. It was in this theatre that the ballet La Fille Mal Gardée premiered in 1789, and where a young Marius Petipa staged some of his first ballets. The theatre was designed by the architect Victor Louis (1731–1800). Louis later designed the galleries surrounding the gardens of the Palais Royal, and the Théâtre Français in Paris.
The Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux was conceived as a temple of the Arts and Light, with a neo-classical facade. It has a portico of 12 Corinthian style colossal columns which support an entablature on which stand 12 statues that represent the nine Muses and three goddesses (Juno, Venus and Minerva). Pierre-François Berruer made four of the statues, and his assistant Van den Drix carved the others from Berruer's models. In 1871, the theatre was briefly the National Assembly for the French Parliament.
The inside of the theatre was restored in 1991, and once again has its original colours of blue and gold. The Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux is one of the oldest wooden frame opera houses in Europe not to have burnt or required rebuilding. Today, the theatre is home to the Opéra National de Bordeaux, as well as the Ballet National de Bordeaux which has many international dancers such as Igor Yebra from Spain.
