Stepping Stones Lighthouse, Long Island Sound.
Passing the Steppingstones heading eastward in the Sound.
Per Wiki:
Stepping Stones Light is a Victorian-style lighthouse in Long Island Sound, in Nassau County, New York. The lighthouse is square-shaped and made of red brick, standing one-and-a-half stories high. The Hudson-Athens Lighthouse is a virtual twin of this structure. The light is in current use, under the management of the United States Coast Guard. It is not open to the public.
The reef upon which it sits was given its name by Siwanoy (Minnefords) Native American legends. According to the legend, the tribe used warriors, medicine, and magic to chase the devil out of present-day Westchester County, New York onto City Island (formerly Greater Minneford Island), surrounding him at Belden Point. The devil then picked up huge boulders lying there and tossed them into Long Island Sound, using them as stepping stones to make his escape. The natives named the rocks, The Devil's Stepping Stones.
It was added to the National Register of Historic Places as Stepping Stones Light Station on September 15, 2005.

Sleepy Hollow, N.Y. — June 10, 2015 – It’s not often a lighthouse gets a second chance. Constructed in 1883 to warn mariners away from the shoals along the eastern edge of the Hudson River near Kingsland Point (just north of the present-day location of the Tappan Zee Bridge), the Lighthouse at Sleepy Hollow was decommissioned in 1961. Now, as the first step in what is eventually intended to be a full-scale refurbishment of the lighthouse, the Village of Sleepy Hollow and the Westchester County Department of Parks have commissioned and installed an exacting replica of the original fourth-order Fresnel Lens and rotating light that once operated atop the lighthouse.
The new light was dedicated in a June 10 ceremony adjacent to the lighthouse at Edge-On-Hudson, the former General Motors property in Sleepy Hollow set to be transformed in to a mixed-use waterfront development. The dedication ceremony was attended by federal, state, county and village officials, including Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino, Village of Sleepy Hollow Mayor Ken Wray, officials from the United States Coast Guard and the New York State Hudson River Estuary program. A representative of Edge-On-Hudson also spoke during the ceremony, outlining plans for the development and plans for support of local community initiatives.
The approximately $35,000 light, lens and brass housing was purchased with a mix of private funds and grant money and fabricated by Artworks Florida. The 1883 Lighthouse at Sleepy Hollow (also known variously as the Kingsland Point Lighthouse and the Tarrytown Lighthouse) is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is connected by footbridge to Kingsland Point Park in Sleepy Hollow, NY.
The United States Coast Guard has reauthorized the light as a Private Aid to Navigation, and Westchester County and the Village of Sleepy Hollow are expected to utilize the light, currently powered with solar panels, on selected special occasions until utility services are established through the new Edge-On-Hudson development, at which time continuous nighttime operation of the light will be possible.
In remarks at the dedication ceremony, Ken Wray, Mayor of the Village of Sleepy Hollow, commented, “This new light is a first step towards our intended goal of full restoration of this historic lighthouse. The new light also signals a new era for the Village of Sleepy Hollow, which has been working towards the start of waterfront development at the former General Motors factory site adjacent to the lighthouse, virtually since the factory’s closing in 1996. This is a once-in-a hundred-year opportunity for the Village and we’re confident the development will benefit Sleepy Hollow and surrounding communities for years to come.”
Development is finally set to commence at Edge-On-Hudson, the mixed-use waterfront development on the site. Edge-On-Hudson was among private donors to the new light, and project executives of SunCal, which is developing the waterfront project in a joint venture with Diversified Realty Advisors, also announced that the developer will be the lead sponsor of a new community event called Circus Latino, set to debut at the riverfront property in September 2015.
ABOUT EDGE-ON-HUDSON
Located in the Village of Sleepy Hollow in Westchester County, New York, just over 25 miles north of Manhattan, Edge-On-Hudson is designed as a world-class master-planned community encompassing 65 acres on the shore of the Hudson River. The $1 billion project is a joint venture of SunCal and Diversified Realty Advisors. When completed, Edge-On-Hudson will feature 1,177 condominiums, townhomes and apartments, a 140-room boutique hotel, 135,000 square feet of retail space and 35,000 square feet of office/loft space. Set within walking distance of two Metro-North train stations with direct access to Grand Central Terminal, the community will feature 24 acres of parks and gardens as well as a waterfront promenade winding along the river’s edge. Development will proceed as approved in 2011 in three phases, including the Loft District, with a modern-day vision for loft living derived from the site’s industrial heritage, the Central Park District, inspired by Hudson Valley architecture and set in natural landscaping with ample open space, and the Waterfront District, featuring contemporary residential buildings. Site development is expected to begin in late 2015, with construction of the first residences in the Loft District as early as 2017. For more information, visit edgeonhudson.com.

SOTT Earth Changes Summary - November 2018: Extreme Weather, Planetary Upheaval, Meteor Fireballs
SOTT Earth Changes Summary - November 2018: Extreme Weather, Planetary Upheaval, Meteor Fireballs
This last month of November the town of Paradise in California turned into a living hell. Apocalyptic wildfires ravaged the state triggering mass evacuations, causing 85 deaths and record loses. 1,890,438 acres were turned to ashes. But that's not all, floods and snow have been added to the deadly mix causing more destruction.
Seismic activity and other geological phenomena increased in November. A 6.3 degree earthquake in Iran and a 7.0 in Anchorage, Alaska, to mention the most significant. Meanwhile, volcanoes in Guatemala, Russia, Mexico, and Italy all sprung into action and India and Saudi Arabia were affected by huge earth cracks that are becoming more common around the world. The earth appears to be 'opening up'.
Heavy rain, floods and big hail have become the new normal - even in some countries' dry season - causing hundreds of deaths this month, failed crops and infrastructure damage. Kuwait, Vietnam and Sydney paid a heavy toll, but the Middle East and Italy were the most affected. Record extreme weather did serious damage to Italy with hurricane like wind gusts, fiery storms and heavy floods causing the death of 30 and heavy damage to crops and entire forests destroyed.
The sheets of rain that have been falling have also been causing liquefaction of the soil that has provoked landslides in Panama, Costa Rica, Brazil , Peru and Ecuador, to name just a few. Much of the downpours - in combination with increasingly low temperatures caused by the solar minimum - also caused heavy early snowfalls that surprised many.
Meteor fireballs also gave us quite an spectacle this month, but in a rather unusual event, four meteor fireballs blazed over southern Spain, two of them sighted within 2 hours.

Orson Welles' The War of the Worlds radio drama - CBS October 30, 1938 - subtitled
The historic October 30, 1938 Halloween episode of the The Mercury Theatre on the Air CBS series by Orson Welles, based on H. G. Wells's novel The War of the Worlds (1898), which caused much panic and even more debates on the influence of the mass media.
This specific video was created as a companion to the original recording and script, for the Science Fiction Seminar at the University of Athens Cinema Club and was screened on October 21, 2012 (Iris theater, ).
It seemed appropriate to upload it for the 75th anniversary of the broadcast, I hope non-native English speakers will find it useful for experiencing this work of art.

Around the World in Eighty Days (version 2) Read by Mark F. Smith.
Jules VERNE , translated by UNKNOWN ( - )
Mysterious Phileas Fogg is a cool customer. A man of the most repetitious and punctual habit - with no apparent sense of adventure whatsoever - he gambles his considerable fortune that he can complete a journey around the world in just 80 days... immediately after a newspaper calculates the feat as just barely possible.
With his excitable French manservant in tow, Fogg undertakes the exercise immediately, with no preparations, trusting that his traveling funds will make up for delays along the way. But unbeknownst to him, British police are desperately seeking to arrest him for the theft of a huge sum by someone who resembles him, and they will track him around the world, if necessary, to apprehend him.
This is an adventure novel of the first water, with wholly unexpected perils, hair-breadth escapes, brilliant solutions to insoluble problems, and even a love story. And can this be? - That he returns to London just five minutes too late to win his wager and retain his fortune? (Summary by Mark F. Smith)
