Narrowboat Holiday - Cosgrove and the Iron Trunk Aqueduct
Many people who hire a narrowboat for a narrowboat holiday want to know what features lie alongside the canal they are travelling on. Having spent some years cruising the canals and rivers of the UK, I want to share some views of the places I have visited to help other canal enthusiasts like me.

EXPLORING a CAST IRON AQUEDUCT of GRAND UNION CANAL in ENGLAND (built 1811) ????
SUBSCRIBE: - Let's visit Cosgrove aqueduct which is a navigable cast iron trough navigable aqueduct that carries the Grand Union Canal over the River Great Ouse, on the borders between Buckinghamshire and Northamptonshire at the northwest margin of Milton Keynes in England. The present structure was built in 1811, to replace a previous brick structure that had failed. When the present structure was erected, it was known as the Iron Trunk. The structure has two cast iron trough spans, with a single central masonry pier.
England, birthplace of Shakespeare and The Beatles, is a country in the British Isles bordering Scotland and Wales. The capital, London, on the River Thames, is home of Parliament, Big Ben and the 11th-century Tower of London. It's also a multicultural, modern hub for the arts and business. Other large cities are Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool, Bristol and the university centres of Oxford and Cambridge.

Grand Junction Canal Iron Trunk Aqueduct Story
This 360 video was shot at the Iron Trunk Aqueduct on the Grand Junction Canal in between Cosgrove and Wolverton Mill. The aqueduct crosses the Great Ouse River and is over 200 years old. Here I tell a little bit of the story of the aqueduct on a glorious Autumn day.

Ouse Valley Park, Milton Keynes, U.K.
Family Cycling fun 27/5/2017
The Ouse Valley Park lies in the flood plain of the Great Ouse which flows from Oxfordshire to the Wash. The park is the most rural of any found in Milton Keynes and is a great place to go to experience the feeling of the countryside without leaving the city. Old trees, hedgerows, meadows, and new plantations combine to provide excellent habitats for wildlife.
The Iron Trunk Aqueduct carries the Grand Union canal over the Ouse at a height of 10.8 metres and connects Wolverton and Cosgrove. The Grand Union (or Grand Junction canal as it was known until 1929) was built between 1793 and 1805 to link London with the industrial Midlands and North. The aqueduct was renovated in 2012 by British Waterways and it was restored to its original colours. Once an industrial artery carrying a wide range of goods in horse-drawn narrow boats, the Grand Union is now a popular route for walking, cycling, and pleasure boating. Scrub and marshy areas border the canal's route through the park and form and provide an excellent habitat for a variety of birds. There are steps up to the canal from the riverside walk and a tunnel which takes the path under the canal.

Deanshanger & Cosgrove Canal
The Buckingham Arm is a canal that once ran from Cosgrove, Northamptonshire to Buckingham (in England). It was built as an arm of the Grand Junction Canal, in two separate phases, opening in 1800 and 1801. It was disused from 1932, but was not finally abandoned until 1964. It is now the subject of a restoration project.
