CITY OF HAMILTON - BERMUDA

Video Of Gibbs Hill Lighthouse Tallest Lighthouse On The Island Of Bermuda
Gibbs Hill Lighthouse is the tallest and oldest lighthouse on Bermuda, a small island in the Atlantic around 600 miles off the coast of North America.
It was built in 1844 and is one of the worlds few remaining lighthouses constructed using cast iron.
Climb the 185 steps to get great views of Riddells Bay Golf Club, the Fairmont Southampton hotel, and Royal Naval Dockyard (Kings Wharf).
Facilities at Gibbs Hill Lighthouse include a gift shop, restaurant, and ample car parking.
Near the entrance to the lighthouse is a lookout known as Queens View. In 1853 Queen Elizabeth II paused here to admire the view.

Why Is Bermuda so Expensive?
$17 for a burrito bowl in Hamilton! Why is Bermuda so gosh darn expensive? I'm no expert, but here's my theory as I travel around Hamilton, the capital city of Bermuda, for the day.

Bermuda Food Shopping Haul | Is Bermuda Expensive?
What sort of food can you buy in Bermuda?
Is food shipped from the UK or USA to Bermuda?
What does a weekly shop look like in Bermuda?
What is the cost of living and food in Bermuda?
Hopefully this video can answer a few of these questions. Bermuda is currently (2018) the most expensive place to live in the world and you will see this reflected in the cost of the food. If you don't know, I have been living in Bermuda for a year and a half with my husband and baby and we are absolutely loving life out here.
I have never videoed a food shopping haul before and unlike in the UK, where you can get most things in one shop, I do have to do my shopping in two separate shopping trips. This is just one of the changes about living on a small island. Not all shops can stock everything. I will definitely be videoing another food shopping haul at some point so let me know what else you would like to see.
Thank you to Windybank farm for letting me video and share their produce. If you live in Bermuda, I would definitely recommend you checking them out!

10 Things Not to Do in Bermuda
Get more Tips here!
Bermuda is an archipelago of 138 islands that are covered in pink, sandy beaches; specialty shopping; world-class cuisine; and beautiful golf courses. You might be eager to visit it, but take into account these 10 things NOT to do in Bermuda.
1. Don’t Try to Rent a Car
If you’re hoping you’ll be able to rent a car to zip around one of the islands, you’ll be out of luck. Bermudan law makes it illegal to operate a car without a Bermudan driver’s license.
2. Don’t Rent a Motorbike
If it’s your first time on one of these scooters, you might want to think it twice. Many local bus and taxi operators tend to exceed the speed limits on the roads, and they often switch lanes without any warning.
3. Don’t Forget to Try a Swizzle
This tasty concoction is made with Gosling’s Black Seal rum, Gosling’s Gold rum, pineapple juice, orange juice, grenadine, and Angostura bitters. A swizzle is then spun rapidly between your hands and inside the cocktail to give it a thick layer of frost.
4. Don’t Visit the Pink Sand Beaches
One of the most talked about attractions in Bermuda is its pink sand beaches. If you want to enjoy some peace and quiet on a less-hectic coastline, check out the quiet beach on Warwick Long Bay located on Bermuda’s South Shore instead.
5. Don’t Visit on a Tight Budget
You really shouldn’t expect to receive a discount on anything in Bermuda. Since everything has to be imported in, it’s all marked up to insanely high prices.
6. Don’t Touch the Portuguese Man of War
It’s known to float above the surface of the water. Below their purple bladders, they have polyps which contain long tentacles ranging from 30-150 feet long. They can inject venom, and in some cases, it can be fatal.
7. Don’t Stop by Royal Navy Dockyard
Adjacent to the cruise port, this area is full of expensive restaurants and pricey shops. However, if you travel just a few miles more, you’ll find more shops and restaurants that have decent prices.
8. Don’t Book a Budget Hotel
Many people advise visitors to stay at a bed and breakfast instead. The accommodations will be much cheaper, and if you’re traveling with a large group, a B&B will be less expensive per person.
9. Don’t Stay Off the Beaten Path
The islands are so spread out that it’s difficult to make your way from one end to the other. Far from the central locations, many buses stop infrequently, and a lot of the routes end around 7 PM every night. After that, there would only be expensive taxis.
10. Don’t Be Afraid of Sharks
There’s really no need to fear them. The two most common, Galapagos and Dusky sharks, don’t come very close to the shore. And, they’re relatively harmless. Bermuda is known for having a low amount of shark attacks.
Where do you want to know what not to do in next?

Destination Bermuda Shopping Tips and Advice For Your Next Bermuda Cruise - CruiseCompete.com
Hi, Melissa at CruiseCompete.com here where travel agents compete to find you the best value in cruising with tips on shopping in
Bermuda.
Bermuda is known as a shopping mecca, not just for what you can buy and the great deals you can find, but also for the experience of exploring the island's retail landscape. While some may prefer the upscale shops of Front Street in Hamilton or King's Square in St. George, you can also find craft markets and small shops based in historic cottages.
Bermuda was once a British colony, and still maintains a special relationship with the U.K. As a result, many English and Irish imports are available at very low prices. These include clothing items like cashmere sweaters and tweed jackets, Waterford crystal and fine china, as well as silverware, jewelry, time pieces, and perfume.
Antiques are another staple of Bermuda shopping. Many items that reflect the island's nautical heritage--think model ships and captain's bells--are available, as well as furniture and engravings. You don't need to take the larger items home aboard your cruise ship, as shops will arrange shipping direct to your home for a fee.
Locally-produced goods include art, pottery, and other crafts, as well as clothing including the iconic Bermuda shorts. These are all duty-free, and don't count toward the $800 per person duty-free allowance for other goods brought into the U.S.
You can get good deals on alcohol as well, though just how good a deal depends on the brand. While U.S. citizens are limited to just one liter of purchase at the duty-free rate, you can still find substantial savings even where you have to pay the import taxes.
Cuban cigars are available as well, but be careful to examine packages to make sure you're getting the real thing. If the price seems to good to be true, it probably is. And of course, if your cruise docks in the U.S. you'll need to smoke these on the island or aboard ship, as they are not allowed into the country.
