Here is a short video of the two weekends I spent in the Jasper National Park during my workaway stay in Canada.
On the first weekend, together with Isabelle, an Austrian workawayer, and Bob, a neighbor of the farm where I have worked, we visited the Jasper Rodeo Heritage.
On the last three days of my stay I was back with Sina, a German workawayer. We saw the Maligne Canyon, the Valley of Fives Lakes, and went horseback riding near the Pyramid Lake.

Jasper Dark Sky Festival (Did Not Go As Planned)

We travelled back to stunning Jasper National park for their annual dark sky festival! Jasper and the surrounding area is the 2nd largest dark sky preserve in the world. We booked tickets to head up the sky tram at night and look at the stars with telescopes, learn from a local photographer and hear a seminar from the planetarium. unfortunately, it was snowing and we couldn't see anything. It was still an awesome experience though! When We arrived at our hotel, a cute cabin, we got a free upgrade! It was a very nice cabin with our own balcony!

Jasper Aurora and Milky Way Timelapse
I have been planning a shot like this for two years. This mountain in the Canadian Rockies is SE facing, and therefore only gets aurora when storm levels get to a KP 6. I can’t tell you how many times I made the 7 hour drive (round trip) in hopes of catching the aurora here when the forecast looked promising, only to go home empty handed. So you can probably imagine my delight when I set out to capture the Milky Way before the snow melted, and got photo-bombed by the aurora! This is one of my favourite photographs of the winter (and I managed to capture a beautiful timelapse of the whole scene unfolding). ♥️
