Spontaneity is the best kind of adventure
Check out our DIY adventure at Sta. Maria and Malolos, Bulacan wherein we passed by the famous Daboy's Chicharon. We also visited La Purisima Concepcion Church at Sta. Maria and Barasoian Church at Malolos, Bulacan.
How to Go to Sta Maria from Cubao:
From Farmers Cubao Bus Stop (below MRT Cubao Station, infront of Mcdonald's), take a northbound bus going to Garden via Bocaue Exit. Tell the conductor to drop you at PTT gas station (Fare is P45). From PTT Gas Station, hire a tricycle and tell the driver to drop you at Sta. Maria Town Proper in front of the church (Fare is P40).
There are many stores in front of the church that sells chicharon but we decided to go to Mr. Daboy's house to meet him personally. You may hire a tricycle to go there but we decided to walk in order to enjoy the place more. You may ask the locals for directions since Mr Daboy is famous in the area. Unfortunately, he is not home a nd will be coming back after weekend. Nevertheless, we decided to buy his famous chicharon and suka with Achara. See prices below:
Daboy's Backfat Chicharon - P115 per pack
Daboy's Belly Chicharon - P60 per pack
Daboy's Ribbon Chicharon - P30 per pack
Suka with Achara - P20 per bottle
All kinds come in chili and non chili flavors. Some workers on his house are also kind enough to give us free samples! Yum yum! :)
How to go to Malolos from Sta Maria:
From Sta Maria Town Proper, ask the locals for the location of the jeepney terminals going to different parts of Bulacan. There are jeepneys plying to Bocaue, Norzagaray, and other parts of Bulacan.
