#EPISODE5 #KGL July 2018 Kashmir Great Lakes Trek | India - Journey Flashback
Six months down the road, we have all gone back to our spaces, lives, jobs, families, etc. But have since come out in some ways changed, in others, more grateful for all things and persons present to us.
This Mini Series is the gist of our journey, (through Lene's Lenses), thus may not be reflective of each team members' personal journey and experience.
Thanks for your time, contribution, camaraderie, and Company during this beautiful week-long walk.
#Episode5 - Passing by Vishansar one final time, we headed towards Krishansar Lake, onwards to the zig zagging climb up, and across the Gadsar Pass, the highest of the passes @ KGL (what we fondly call the Kashmir Great Lakes Trek). The views getting to the Top of the pass and getting Down of the pass were equally, beautiful in their own right. If Vishansar was my favorite lake, the Gadsar Pass has got to be my personal favorite of the three passes.
Kashmir Great Lakes Trek 2018
Kashmir Great Lakes trek is the one of the beautiful trek in India. It starts from Shitkadi near Sonamarg, Kashmir and ends at Naranag, Kashmir. It is around 70km long trek covered in 6 days. The maximum altitude achieved is 13,800ft. This hiking requires good fitness.

#Episode6 - The Drama Day!
Long story short, day started awesome with high spirits and dancing by the hillside...the weather turned bad and to avoid potentially Worse weather during our pass crossing we tented down our camp (arrived before lunch) , and compressed two days of trek, covering roughly 21-25km +/- and est total elevation gain of 1150-1200m +/-... #TGIF (thank goodness it's finished)
Top it off, it rained in the middle of the night and my tent having partially collapsed I threw on rain gear and went out to fix it. Thereafter helping the crew digging trenches for the rest of the groups as they were sound asleep.
The public holiday the next day was well deserved and I slept in like a baby (so no sunrise / rise and shine footage!)

#Episode7 - The Public Holiday !
A day spent in utter oblivion. Not knowing what time I stepped out of my tent...with others still sleeping... Walking the area to check out views of Nundkhol and Gangabal Lakes, the final great lakes in our trek, more camp stories, and generally a well deserved relaxing day after the previous day's long walk!
Trekking in Kashmir by Quest Tours & Travels
The Gangabal Lake is a lake situated at the foothills of Mount Haramukh (the highest mountain peak in the vicinity of Kashmir valley) in Ganderbal district, north of Srinagar city in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, India. It is an alpine high altitude phototropic lake, home to many species of fish, including the brown trout.
The lake has a maximum length of two and a half kilometers and maximum width of one kilometer. It is fed by precipitation, glaciers and springs. The lake water outflows to a nearby Nundkol Lake and then via Wangath nallah to Sind River.
The Gangabal lake is approached from Srinagar 45 kilometers by road via Ganderbal up to Naranag and then a trek of 15 kilometers up-slopes leads to the lake, which can be covered by a horse ride or by foot. The shepherds and gujjars can be seen during the trek with their flocks of sheep and goats.
