It was a beautiful day, so I decided to film some of the fantastic views etc from the rock formation, The Fabric, at the top of the valley.

Cool fog in Ashover
I was walking my dog on new years day in Ashover / Derbyshire (England) in a really cool thick fog...the view from that hill should be for miles.
Wow! East Peak District cycle ride PART 2, above Matlock via S Wingfield to Ashover
Wow – absolutely gorgeous 29.6-mile circular cycle ride in the east Derbyshire Dales / Peak District, and the most hilly bike ride I’ve done to date (May 2017)!! Not a cycle route for the cyclist look for something flat or undulating… Starts at Ashover (west of Clay Cross), climbing over the top and down to Matlock, then back via South Wingfield and Ogston Reservoir including some detours to look at historical stuff. Lovely sunny weather on a Tuesday in May. THIS IS PART 2 - be sure to check out PART 1.
Route: Park in the free car park at Ashover village hall, then turn left and cycle down to the B6306 where you turn right. Go straight over the A632. After about a mile take a left to Robridding (down steep hill and up the other side). At top of hill turn right at the T-junction, then after about a mile turn left towards Matlock Farm Park. After about a mile turn left towards Matlock. Cycle for 3 miles or so into Matlock, ending up at the park by the river (good place for a picnic).
Cycle out of Matlock along this main road, heading south east. After a few hundred yards there’s a right turn to Starkholmes. Cycle up the hill ignoring the very steep left turn after about a mile. Continue towards Cromford station via a sharp left-hand turn that takes you under the railway. Cycle past the station towards Holloway then left up the steep hill to Upper Holloway (3rd turning on the left, very steep hill through the village). At the top take a sharp left where the road evens out. Cycle for about a mile past the Gardens, then turn right towards Lea (entrance to Gardens on right). At the top of the hill take a left towards Dethick (detour), then after half a mile left again down the hill to Dethick Manor Farm (former home of the Babingtons as in Sir Anthony Babington who plotted to kill Elizabeth I and put Mary Queen of Scots on the throne – he was captured and hung, drawn and quartered!). Dethick is ‘Thackers’ farm in Alison Uttley’s book ‘A Traveller in Time’.
Retrace your route back up the hill, turning right back down the hill to the road where you originally turned off. Turn left up the hill. Ignore the first turn right, taking the second turn right towards Crich Tramway Museum (brown waymark sign), then towards South Wingfield (I bypassed Crich). Here you can do a quick detour to look at Wingfield Manor (where Mary Queen of Scots was held prisoner) by turning right onto the B road, then after the pub there’s a bridleway (tarmacked drive) on the left which goes downhill to reveal the large ruined Manor up on the hill – an impressive sight!
Retrace your route back into South Wingfield, turning left briefly at the shop you cycled past when you arrived, then almost immediately right towards Wessington. After about a quarter of a mile fork left along a minor road towards Wessington where you join the A615 briefly after about a mile. Where the A-road turns sharp left take a right towards Wessington, then a right at the T-junction. Almost immediately turn left on a minor road towards Woolley Moor, uphill. Continue to Brackenfield, turning right after the church before heading alongside Ogston Reservoir (on your right), then left through Woolley. At the T-junction, turn right briefly onto the B6014, then left towards Dalebank where you turn left onto the B6036 and back to Ashover.
Be sure to check out my other bike ride videos and the other (mainly Yorkshire) cycle ride segments - ideal for use at the gym on an exercise bike, treadmill, cross trainer, etc! Most are in Yorkshire, but some are in Somerset and Derbyshire. Best to turn the sound off - just wind, etc, no music, sorry.
NOTE: If you do this route, please take maps. I can't be held responsible for any wrong-turns, etc!

Peak District MTB - Hathersage, Brough Descent and The Beast
Very similar to my Hathersage vid but with improved(?) camera angle and full descent from Hope Cross. This was the first time I'd finished it with no foot downs though there were moments when I was cursing the fact I was using SPD's! Filmed on standard GoPro Hero (now dead) mounted on the seatpost.

Derbyshire Descents- Descent number 2, Monsal Head descent.
Very bumpy (potholes) and short, but this is our descent of The Monsal Head hill from the pub down to the valley.
Near Great Longstone, Derbyshire.
Sorry about the poor quality.
Enjoy!
