This Is The Lake District
Having spent years photographing the Lake District for our holiday cottage company we thought it was time to ramp things up and create Time Lapse and video movies.
Shot by Jack Serginson and Ollie Gough with a bit of help from myself I think they have produced something quite special, highlighting Cumbria's Lake District and showing why this stunning area is the perfect holiday destination. Look out for re-edits and new films. Big thanks to Cam, Ram and Set from Reforest Records for running out a great sound track at short notice. Oh and by the way, in their urgency to get the film up before disappearing to Norway for their next great time lapse adventure, they made a few spelling typos - Tut Tut boys, I guess I should have checked.
If you want to visit the Lake District then do see our Visit England inspected quality Lake District Cottages see our website at - you won't be disappointed.
If you wish to use any part of the movie please contact John Serginson at The Lakeland Cottage Company Tel 015395 38180

A Trip to Lake District Wildlife Park
Greetings Space Cadets, during our trip to the Lake District in December 2012 we took a trip to Trotters World of Animals (now Lake District Wildlife Park) near Keswick to visit the big Kittens. I've put together a short video and some photos of some of the different animals you can visit here. If you're in the area or even if you're not we highly recommend that you visit, we went on a very cold and rainy day but will be returning next year, to take more photos when the weather is better.
You can check out more of my photos from Trotters and from all my other Expeditions at my website:

Lake District Photography and Wildlife Park 2018 with Petting Zoo
Visiting Lake District Wildlife Park was great fun. So many animals (that Darren gets a little confused over). There were maybe meerkats, turkeys, zebus and stalking a Zog in the wild. Our encounter with an owl was a hoot.
Darren does some photography and looks for a composition and some phenomenal views.
Let us know what your favourite animal is and why? Who would you take here?
We will be back to experience and feed the Lemurs later in the year.

Lake District National Park - England
The Lake District National Park is located in the north-west of England and is the largest of the English National Parks and the second largest in the United Kingdom. It is in the central and most-visited part of the Lake District.
The National Park was formed in 1951 to protect the landscape by restricting unwelcome change from industry or commerce. Almost all of the land in the Park is in private ownership, with small areas belonging to the National Trust. In common with all other National Parks in England, there is no restriction on entry to or movement within the park along public routes, but access to cultivated land is usually restricted to public footpaths.
The highest mountains in England are within the Park boundary.
The lakes and mountains combine to form impressive scenery unique to this corner of England. Farmland, hill and settlement add aesthetic value to the natural scenery with an ecology modified by human influence for millennia and including important wildlife habitats. ( source Wikipedia )

Even on a rainy day, the drive from Keswick down to Buttermere and back, then down to Bowness on Windermere ...... is marvellous.

The Waterbirds of Lake Windermere - Lake District National Park - UK
Over a thousand ducks, geese and swans live on Windermere throughout the year. This more than doubles to over two and half thousand birds during the winter!
Many birds fly from Scandinavia and Eastern Europe to spend the winter. Windermere has more birds on it in the winter than any other lake in the Lake District. It's one of the top places in Britain for wintering goldeneye,Coot, coot, pochard and red-breasted merganser.
Windermere is the largest natural lake in England. It is a ribbon lake formed in a glacial trough after the retreat of ice at the start of the current interglacial period. It has been one of the country's most popular places for holidays and summer homes since the arrival of the Kendal and Windermere Railway's branch line in 1847. Historically forming part of the border between Lancashire and Westmorland, it is now within the county of Cumbria and the Lake District National Park.
