Lemongrass is a tall grass like plant commonly used in Thai cooking. Also known as citronella it has a citrus, lemony flavor.
Lemongrass tea benefits range from helping treat oral infections & cavities, may reduce your cancer risk, help promote healthy digestion, help your body reduce excess fluid and sodium, help reduce high systolic blood pressure, may help regulate your cholesterol, may help you lose weight and may help relieve symptoms of PMS.
How to make lemongrass tea
1. There are numerous ways of how to make lemongrass tea. The way we do it, you first add a bit of water on your cooking pot as shown on the video. * Adding a small amount of water to boil before adding fresh milk to the pot ensures the cooking pot does not contaminate the milk.
2. Now add 500ml of fresh milk to the cooking pot, then add water about the same amount, you could always add more water depending on how light you want your lemongrass tea.
3. Add the lemongrass leaves. We added four long ones, though you could add more depending on how strong you want the lemongrass taste to be on your tea.
4. On high heat, let the mixture heat to boiling point.
5. Once the mix of water, milk and lemongrass leaves start of boil, add a tablespoon of tea leaves, and reduce your heat to stop it boiling over.
The next stage is where it makes the difference between a well-cooked tea and one that is not.
6. On low heat, let it simmer for two to three minutes. This helps in getting the most flavour of the tea leaves and lemongrass.
By now the beautiful aroma of tea leaves infused with lemongrass should be exciting your taste buds.
7. Put off the heat and serve hot through a Sieve.
Lemongrass Tea Benefits
